It just seems like nothing is moving on our shelves, like in the past year. Same 'ole boosters, same 'ole starter sets.
If Attacktix is fading...what do you think are the reasons? I have a few ideas myself, but I want to see what you guys think.

Although Attacktix is one of my favourite collectible items, it is fading. Hasbro, in my opinion, has been doing a lousy job recently. Although working hard on other things like Transformers, they are not really doing anything with Attacktix. It has been forever since a new set was released and they have a great Transformer set (S3) ready and waiting but they haven't even released S2 (TF and M) or S5 (SW). May post more later...

No, no, no, no, no!
Nothing is moving on the shelves because it is old. The same thing happened with S3 when it was out for a long time before S4 came out. It's happening now when nothing new from SW/TF has come out in a year and MV has been out for six months (the average time between set releases, by the way).
Also, this "no Hasbro support" is a load of bologna as well. If Hasbro was "dropping the ball" they wouldn't be saturating the market with three lines, extra starters, tournament sets, and that ilk. They know full well that Attacktix sells and, as such, they're making as much as possible.
The simple problem is that once again we have not had a new set in six months so, once again, things have been stagnating. Within the next month all fears of "fading" will be gone. Bank on it.

No just a little stagnation because there hasn't been a new set released for a while and we're all chomping at the bit to get the stuff that has been teased, teased, teased again but not released...I mean the Fantastic Four was just released...did somebody miss the ball for a Tournament set or at least a starter with the movie theme.

I have to go along with Grievous on this. You've got to take into account how long it takes to go from concept to prototypes to pre-production to full-production, plus marketing...
PLUS, you're talking like Attacktix is Hasbro's primary focus when it's not. Transformers and Star Wars in and of themselves are Hasbro's big moneymakers, so that's where they'd put a lot of the marketing since Attacktix is just a secondary line. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't this exact same thing happen about the time ROTS came out? The marketing focus on the main line of action figures rather than Attacktix figures, the boosters and starters on the shelves for extended periods, and perhaps most importantly for this topic - the automatic assumption that Attacktix is dying.
Why are boosters and starters sitting on shelves? I'll use myself as an example. Not only do I have all the starter sets for all three lines, plus SM and GR, but I have doubles of many of them - I don't need more starter sets (unless I'm doing it for the P02 Troopers, but that's beside the point.) Plus, I have enough of the different booster figures from all three lines that the odds of me getting new figures instead of duplicates are so low that it's more advantagous to me to get them through trades and E-Bay. (of course, I still buy boosters, but that's mainly because I need the custom fodder)
Trust me, come August when TFTM '07 has been out for a month, the people who are just being introduced to Transformers by it will see the TF Attacktix in the stores and start buying them, then possibly turn to the Marvel and Star Wars lines, same goes for FF:ROTSS.
Attacktix is NOT dead, it's just like a boxer drawing back his fist to launch the knock-out haymaker.

Although I agree that the products aren't selling too well because the products are old, I also know that Attacktix isn't currently that popular because of the lack of advertising. Another thing is that they make too many of the Starter Sets. Because not many people buy more then one Starter Set, Hasbro shouldn't make that many. Although they're very good with Tournament Sets, only releasing a few each time the others sell out.
I'm not sure how good Attacktix is doing in the U.S. but here in Canada it isn't doing that well because of the lack of advertising and high prices. Anyways, moral is, make less Starter Sets.
Hope your right Turbomagnus, but of course Attacktix isn't dead, just not doing as good as it should...

Excuse me while I launch into a rant about "fading Attacktix". Nothing gets under my skin more than pessimism. Not particularly targeted at anyone so no one get offended, please.
There are going to be "dead areas".For example, my area sells through Attacktix like hotcakes until times like this where there is nothing new on the shelves (even now, the boosters are selling but the starters aren't). My grandparent's area, however, is a bit slower as I've seen S3 starters in December or so down there.
I also don't think the issue is Starter Sets. I don't completely understand your argument here. Are you saying someone will only buy one starter, period, or one of each starter? Because, like turbomagnus said, people will buy more than one of each starter and will most certainly buy more than one starter, period.
The main problem that I see with starters isn't that no one wants them, it's that no one wants them anymore. From what I understand, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. usually have an automated restock system that call for more of an item when they're running low. If starters have sold out, they're going to get a new shipment even if it is late in that series' life and no one wants it. This even happens in an un-automated system because someone will think "Attacktix is selling well, we don't have much Attacktix starter sets, therefore we need more". So the issue isn't on the Hasbro end of "making too many", the issue is that places keep stocking them late into their life causing them to clog the shelves.
Also, I still disagree with your assessment that Attacktix isn't doing well. I reiterate my point, if Attacktix wasn't doing well then Hasbro wouldn't be saturating the market like they are.
However, I will agree with you that Hasbro needs to advertise. Advertisement is key because if no one knows your product exists then no one will buy it. Hasbro needs to get a good Attacktix commercial running on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon so more people know about the line and want to buy it.

Oh, sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant that each starter would sell (usually) only one (unless the person has his/her own income, usually an adult), parents seem to have a thing about buying the same thing twice I believe.
When I said it's not doing that good, I meant it's not doing that good where I live and it's not doing as good as it could as a whole, which leads to...
Advertising, definately needs more, but I can envision at least a few commercials or something coming sometime this or next year with all the great sets coming out and all. One of the prime selections for commercials would probably be the TF tournament set since the TF movie is quickly approaching.

LOL..the panic strikes hard. I really don't think that the line is fading, just slowed to a manageable pace. I've noticed a LOT of boosters at all of my local stores and I doubt they'll release them until the retailers report that their stock levels are getting low.
Personally, thanks to Malform, I have my SW5 starter set. Darth Vader is just as sickly, emaciated and pretty much disgusting as I thought. The arm flip is about as lame as anything made in the last century, save Spam. The true coal in the eye is not that he sucks major ass, that he RECOVERS and forces you to play with him even more. The oddity I noticed, though, is that he is the first to use the word "Imperial" in it's special power verbiage rather than "Empire". The purists will have to gripe now that there is no "Imperial" faction, if taken literally, so he can't even Recover!

I agree with Grievous, and if the line was actually dying, would we be seeing previews of another year's worth of figures? Obviously since the sets are being planned at such a steady pace, Hasbro isn't too worried about the lifespan of this game. Therefor, neither am I.

I think Hasbro has spread themselves too thin. And I don't think they've fully grasped their target population. The people who are really getting into Attacktix and wanting to buy and collect more are not the 5-7 year olds they are trying to target. It's us, the 25-40 year olds. The ones who make the money and can afford the products, and the ones who really really get into the meat of the game (the only kids I've ever known who owned Attacktix cared a less about the rules and eventually broke their figures in horseplay). Hasbro is trying to branch out too much with all their different lines. If they are going to make new lines based on all the new movies, here's a bit of info they might want to know - I don't have any interest in any of the upcoming movies. I could care a less about TF, or Fanastic Four. I guess that puts me out of the loop altogether until George Lucas decides to make his 3rd trilogy. Whether Hasbro is flourishing or not, I have simply taken advantage of this "stagnation" period to become involved in other activities that, for now, are my primary interests. Sorry Hasbro, if you don't put out, something else will replace you. And something else did.

Well, I don't think attacktix is fading BUT... Maybe they should think of making bilingual attacktix, like they did for their other toys. The reason for this is that they can't sell it on the Québec market unless it can be used in french. This might seem like a personal rant but a lot of my friends who have tried Attacktix want to get some but don't want to order them online. There is definitely potential for Attacktix in Québec, especially since I would probably single-handedly bring up their sales .

Right now the main market for Attacktix is English people in NA, that could change if they made the labels, powers and Quick-Start booklet in different languages. Good thinking, +1.

LOL!! Good try all of you optimistic people (I say that in jest)! The fact remains no matter how you cut it. Star Wars Attacktix has had nothing new in 1 year. Yup. Plain and simple. True there's Marvel attacktix and other diversions, but for Stars Wars alone...nothing. Nada. Zip. Assuming that schedule remains the same...here's what we have to look forward to (Star Wars Attacktix ONLY)...
2008 Series 6 (15 figs) 2009 Series 7 (another 15 figs) 2010 Series 8 (another 15 figs) 2011 Series 9 (another 15 figs) 2012 Series 10 (another 15 figs) 2013 Series 11 (another 15 figs)
Do the math people. That's 90 figures (with remolds no doubt) for the next 6 years. That's equivalent to Series 1 thru 3 (roughly...not counting starters, megas, or extras). Unless they change the number of figs in a series (anyone know if they are?), that's what we are looking at. Does this seem too far-fetched? Not gonna happen? Guess we'll see. (Maybe I should get into Marvel attacktix...or Ghost Rider...DOH!! Hasbro's strategy is working!! Must resist!!...no..must buy everything Hasbro to make up for lack of SW Attacktix....DOH!!) ***smacks forehead like Homer***
