Ok, I know that some of you guys have wiis... But I was wondering if anybody has a 360 or a PS3. I used to have a wii, and got bored of the game selection, so got a 360. About 8 months later I noticed that nobody (not even my daughters) have even touched the wii since the 360 arrived.... So I sold all my wii stuff and made enough cash to buy a PS3. No attacktix means I seem to play a lot more games than I used to. lol So if any of you guys have either of the 2, It would be awesome to game with you guys (maybe some transformers war for cybertron?). My gamer tags are as follows: xbox 360: malnation PS3: MrOflam

Wish I could join ya, but I don't own either of those systems. I do A LOT of computer online gaming with my friends. Right now, me and three others are playing Left for Dead 2 every Tuesday nights.
Since you have both the 360 and the PS3, which is a better system? If I had to choose one, which would be a better system to buy?

Since you have both the 360 and the PS3, which is a better system? If I had to choose one, which would be a better system to buy? I have L4D2 for my 360. I wish I had a PC good enough to run such games. PS3 or 360?... Thats actually a really tough one. I can tell you I play my 360 a ton more than I do my PS3. There are small things about the PS3 that bug the hell out of me (some may see these as nit-picking), those are as follows: 1. By default you use a usb cord plugged into one of the PS3's usb ports to charge the controllers. The usb ports are not powered unless the ps3 is on. 2. When you download a demo, you have to install it before you can play it. So its sort of a 3 step process. Download, install, play. In comparison, on the 360, you download and play, no installing required. 3. There is no cross-game chatting. But there are of course downsides to the 360 as well, its not perfect (as Im sure you may have hear) after all. 1. They kill you with accessories and prices of accessories. Example, a controller will cost you anywhere from $35 - $50, and a rechargeable battery will cost you another $20, a ps3 controller costs about the same as a 360 controller, and has the batteries built in. 2. You have to pay a subscription fee to play online, ps3 online gaming is free (for now) 3. Much higher probability that you will have some kind of hardware failure. I myself have had the infamous red ring of death, and have had to replace the belt drive in my dvd reader several times. I dont know. I often wonder why I use the 360 more, as I think the hardware failure rate should be a much higher weighted issue than the rest of my knit-picking. But there seems to be allot of people that just bare with the idea that you are more than likely going to have the thing repaired at some point, so Im not alone. lol

Very nice rundown! You gave me an "insider's" perspective, and I have not heard of any of these problems with either of these systems, so thanks!!!! You've provided me with enough information to conclude that I don't want either of them! I'll stick to playing all my online games on my lappy. I'm currently playing L4D2, LOTRO, CoH/CoV, and dabbled with Champions Online. I got a good group of friends I play regularly, all of whom are my age or older (38+), so I don't have to hassle with playing with 10 year olds! Thanks for the info!

If you have the hardware, I defiantly think that PC gaming is the way to go. One thing I have often wondered, that you may be able to answer. Do PC games have achievements or trophies? So you can then have a super cool internet banner thing to show off all the ones you have accumulated? Like below?

I got a question too.
I was thinking about getting a used Xbox 360 to run Blockbuster movies on.
Will I need to pay for Xbox live to do blockbuster?

Im not familiar with a blockbuster service for the 360. You do however need to have xbox live gold to use the netflix service.

I was thinking about getting a used Xbox 360 to run Blockbuster movies on. Not a 360 owner, but a word of caution if you're thinking of buying a used one. Several months ago MS really started cracking down on modded systems, making them pretty much unusable online. For that reason, used video game retailers got a ton of 360s traded in at that time. Just be careful if you buy one used. If they can't guarantee it'll work, then at least make sure your retailer of choice has a fair return policy. Might not affect you right now if you don't plan to use it online, but could be a big inconvenience in the future.

This past November Microsoft banned an estimated 1 million xbox 360s from the xbox live gold service. These consoles will not be able to use any online feature at all, but will still play single player and local multilayer (such as split screen games) games. So if you are wanting to get a used 360 to use netflix, you may want to make sure that it is not a banned system.

PC games have trophies, titles, badges, you name it, depending on what game you play. LOTRO, for instance, has titles you can earn that become attached to your toon's name for all the world the see, and they have special event trophies, such as winning new festival mounts you can ride. CoH has titles and badges you can earn. Pets are also prized possessions you can earn.
