In Orange County! ...I will will be ..... wait? Orange County Florida, in Orlando?
Oh, but there is a perfectly good Orange County in California.
No. But have fun to anyone who goes. Perhaps we can get press credentials for someone.

Yeah, I'd have much preferred California...could have been a much shorter trip. LadyB is going with some friends in the 501st Legion.
What would be involved in the press credential thing?

As a member of the press, you essentially get free access to events like these. There is an expectation that you will blog or otherwise do some (advertising) informing the community about the event you just attended.

I think that is the plan, she wanted to take a bunch of pictures and get a good write up for here and her blog to share the details of the festivities.

That sounds like so much fun!!! Yes yes please share your pics. Me and my family went to the Bristol Rennaissance Faire last Saturday in Kenosha, WI. I was outfitted in a chain mail shirt, chain mail coif, Norman helmet, and a black and yellow tabert. I was carrying a huge spear and had a short sword on my belt. Let me tell you the armor is all real steel armor (about 30 pounds worth!!), and the weapons are very real and sharp!!! It was a BLAST!!! It was an honor to be in so many people's vacation photos - I had strangers pulling me aside for photo ops with their kids!!! It was so fun!

You guys have fun. Am I to suppose that you'll be dressing up in character? Yes, depending on the day: Like wow!! Really, wow!!! Those are all great! But the Asajj Ventress is mind blowing. How'd you get the smooth bald head and white eyes? Or is this photoshopped? In any case, Ionic is a very lucky man!

Yes, he is. We'll the first couple time I had a bald cap with suggestions from a lady in Wales associated with the production of Doctor Who and the skillful hand of a make-up pro that lives closer to here (thanks Shawn). But alas last year I was helping with a Relay for Life Cancer fundraiser and the glue didn't hold and the make-up was a mess so I turned to another for help: The eyes are Ionic's photoshoping I'm not that fond of the opaque white contacts. It has been a lot of fun and able to help a lot of great causes. Last weekend we were part of a Make-a-Wish, and though he likes to be clear I joined first Ionic is part of this now too: If you go to www.501st.com you can learn more about the group. If you hit refresh enough (it might take some while) eventually you'll get me: I've been asked to be on the costuming panel at CV to talk about Ventress, it is still in the planning stages, but hopefully will go well.

That sounds like you had a lot of fun AWOL, glad it went well. Those are all great! But the Asajj Ventress is mind blowing. How'd you get the smooth bald head and white eyes? Or is this photoshopped? The eyes yes, the rest, no that's legit. In any case, Ionic is a very lucky man! No disagreement there.

Wow, unbelievable.
I think there's a 501st here in albuquerque. looks like loads of fun and ability to support some fine charitable causes.
ladyB, you actually shaved your head?
Talk about cosplay!!! Dooku and Ventress love interest? Makes me want to turn to the Dark side!!!
The next question is , where do you get all your fantastic looking props and costume gear? make any of it?

Dooku and Ventress love interest? Makes me want to turn to the Dark side!!! The next question is , where do you get all your fantastic looking props and costume gear? make any of it? It has been fun, and helped a lot of good causes. The 501st is worldwide. New Mexico would be part of the Mountain Garrison it looks like: www.501st.com/members/garrisonglance.php?garrisonId=14Yes I did/have. It came down to cancel or shave and I didn't want to cancel on the Relay. We had a lot of happy faces of kids in general and those with cancer were especially enamored with my head. It was a smaller event but we were able to raise about $200 for cancer research. Love interest, sure, we celebrated our 11th anniversary by helping with the same Relay for Life a year latter a couple weeks ago. As to the costumes, I've made most of the soft parts and Ionic the belts and props. The pleated skirt I did find at a thrift store. The top and arm wraps and neck armour I either made or made with help from friends and family. Ionic and my dad made the saber hilts. His costume the imperial officer part was purchased from someone in our garrison (though I'm making him one now too) and I did the cloak. He made the chain and purchased some resin cast clasps that he finished. I help with making his hair white/grey, etc. Did that answer your questions? If not do tell, thanks.
