Okay, so i just wanted to say Hi again. I had an account under the name Destroyer, but it has been about a year since I have been on here and I forgot the password and such. So now I have a new name for what it's worth. It appears that it is pretty dead around here so i don't know how much ill actually do. I still play attacktix off and on and I was just wondering who still plays and still checks on here regularly.

I've been playing since the begining and having recently moved, I found a group of guys and we get together once a week to have a 6 way free for all battle using 1000points per team and using custom terrain we made to add some interesting twists to the game. it normally takes us about 3 hours to finish a game. but there are still a few serious players out there.

That's cool man. can you take some photos of your terrain and/or customs to share? I know there are some people who would get a kick out of that.

Pictures from both sides of the field. Figures are more so randomly set up not depicting any actual battle. the numbers in the circles are for rolling dice to deturmine a random starting point on any side of the board to allow for up to six players in one battle

That is a cool set up man. That is one of the neatest things I have seen in a while.

befor I moved I had a lot more terrain and we used to play at the youth center I worked at, we would use the whole classroom floor and some battles would go on for 9 hours without any clear winner in site. Lots or teams and ally strategies came in to play, but I've found that a 4x8 tabletop is alot easier on the knees and keeps the games tied to a more reasonable time frame. I like to take something simple and make something big out of it.

So does anyone else have any cool battle arenas? or does everyone else play on the 3ft square from the book?

pretty Decent set up you got sfx. I will say that I do love playing on a 3d battlefield with multiple levels. We simply have it take one click to go up a step making stair ways functional, we just use black sharpy lines to determine what ever height changes equal a click. well, gotta go. game going down tonight. people showing up.

Wow that's a nice set up Templar! Me and bro haven't played Attacktix in a while, but we used to make terrain out of those foam pieces you find in boxes - they are perfect for walls and structures because many of them have windows and doorways built into them. They tended to be light and easy to push around, so we had to secure them to our playing surface.
I've found that playing with terrain makes the game significantly more challenging. I rarely play the standard 3 ft square battle field because it is just too d**n easy and favors the strikers. But a large play area with terrain forces you to up the ante, because you have to be a better shot and do a lot more strategic thinking, especially if you're fighting a large-scale battle with several different fronts. Some of our battles have gone 3 hours straight, and it's A LOT of fun!

3x3 favors strikers ? I don't know. (and I haven't used terrain much) It seems to me the more obstacles there are, the harder time a shooter would have. Interesting thought, I will ponder more.

I only say that because on a 3x3 playing area, strikers about 2 turns from being within devastating distance, and could potentially wipe out nearly an entire team with multiples, such is the confined space! Terrain does make it harder for shooters, actually it makes it harder for everyone, since even the strikers have to maneuver around all the junk!

if anything, terrain doesn't favor shooters or strikers. it favors players with more strategies. there is only so much strategy that come into play on a 3 foot square, but with obstacle and terrain, it throws a whole new dimension of strategy that almost turns the game into a turn based strategy game over a turn based shooter. I find it more interesting to have to decide if I want to try and fortify a building to outlast an attack, or if I want to spit my forces to conquer multiple locations, or if I just want to wander around raining down death and destruction upon all who oppose me ... strategy

It's all about strategy. And terrain also gives every figure a chance to prove its worth - even the lowely 10-point shooter can become an ominous threat if you have 2-3 of them hunkered behind a wall pegging off the enemy. In a small 3x3 battlefield, they are just fodder for the heroes, but in a larger battelfield, they can be used the way they were meant to be used - cover fire.

Strategy make Attacktixman head hurt!
But we have thought about trying scene reenactments like Battle of Geonosis by putting out those figures like Nexu, Ackley & Reek on a table and playing around them. Or Pit of Carkoon with Sail Barge and skiffs. Or Battle of Hoth with AT-AT and snow speeders. And play the scenes from the movie at the same time...
No time to do anything though...
