Has anybody seen this yet? I got to go to the midnight showing last night, and I just got back from seeing it with my girlfriend. It is an amazing movie, and it earned the R-rating that it received.

We saw it last night, it was freakin great. Far better than I ever thought it would be... Best comic turned movie ever!... Seriously. The adult content is pretty heavy. I seriously think they may have been more in lines with an NC-17. The Mrs said it had her blushing, and its not easy to make her blush.

I loved it. Loved it. Can't wait to see it again.
Rorschach was PERFECT. Everyone was perfect really. I loved the small moments the most...especially the few scenes where we see Rorschach and Nite Owl kind of rekindle their friendship and partnership...I loved the contrast between them. Loved it.
Definitely an R.

I read a bunch of reviews from people today and had to laugh a bit when I kept hearing Papa Smurf had his rod of discipline hanging out there quite often. LOL!
I haven't seen it, not sure if I will or not, but just for kicks I have to ask.
Were any of you guys disappointed in the change in the ending? Do you think it made the movie any less from the comic?

I think that within the context of the story, the ending made sense, because it brought the characters back into it, and it kind of makes it more about them.

I liked/loved it as well. Have to go back again to rewatch now that I've had to chance to digest it and the 20 years of anticipation have worn off. Wasn't upset with the ending, except for one small "issue" that I'll get into after people have seen it - but it's a somewhat common issue that many online reviews have mentioned.
On another point - I know it would have made the movie longer but I missed the average, person on the street characters. It's through their eyes that you really get the sense of dread/end of the world fear that the movie needed.
Pre-release reviews were complaining about some of the acting and old age make-up. I didn't have an issue with either. I did think some of the song choices/placement were a bit jarring (and I'm a product of the 80's). Over all a great flick - looking forward to the extended edition.

I've been reading reviews and found people who complain that if you've not read the novel then you really won't 1. relate to the characters 2. understand the plot.
Do you guys feel this is truthful or is it closer to the novel than what most people realize?

Well, to address the first part...it's very understated...and really true to the books I guess. I think the ending was great...in fact, I think the ending of the movie made maybe a tad more sense than the comic, but the moral dilemma it represents is the same, which is the crux of the entire story. In the end, I loved it, but wish it could have been pulled out to two or three movies.

I went to go see it with a buddy< i had read the novel several time he had never read it. I enjoyed much more than he did. He was expecting more action and less story like a average comic to movie but thats not what Watchmen is about. I guess it helps to read to at least help to understand the story.
Personally i like the ending, the change was kinda necessary the squid thing was kinda silly to begin with.
