I don't know if this has been covered in the expanded universe but are "the stormtroopers" clones of Jango Fett or are they something else? They don't have the same voice in the first movies and the don't seem to be as bright. My little boy asked me and I didn't know. I would figure that they are. Do any of you guys know?

My understanding is that eventually the clones stopped being made after the Clone Wars were over and then the Empire began recruiting "normal people" to be in the armed forces. Probably because they needed so many to control the galaxy (I think in the books/movies they say there are only a couple million clones).
So, after the Clone Wars, the clones kinda faded away as they aged and died, to be replaced by regular people.

Don't quote me on this one BUT, if I remember correctly, the Imperial Stormtroopers are a mix of clones and normal recruits.
First, it explains the "a bit short" line. If there are a large amount of clones in the military then it will make all of them seem the same, especially since they wear masks. If half of all Stormtroopers are clones and therefore the same height, it will become normal for one to presume Stormtroopers to have a "standard" height.
Second, I believe that there is a novel or guide somewhere that explains that the reason why some Stormtroopers are such horrible shots (See: no major character ever gets hit, just fired around) and others are great shots (See: "Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise) is because some of them are clones of clones of clones. That means if the modern Stormtroopers are clones then it's like photocopying the same image several times, each one gets worse than the one prior. The opposite of the above also could be true. If they're still using the original DNA sample from Fett then it is the cloned stormtroopers that are great shots and the recruits that are bad ones. Depends on POV.
Third... uh... I don't have much of a third other than there is, of course, evidence that not all Stormies are clones. Kyle Katarn, the troop from Star Wars: Allegiance, the two Stormtroopers of different height that Han and Luke stole their armor from, the fact that one was tall enough to hit his head on the doorway of the Death Star, etc.
So, in conclusion: Stormtroopers = Clones + Recruits

The clones actually didn't have a long life span. They died off quickly. The Empire then recruited "humans" to the military. Palpatine despised most alien species, so that's why you don't see any or much (Thrawn) alien troopers or leaders.

Haha! Source'd! When in need of research, one should always remember Wookiepedia which I had forgotten.
The first stormtroopers were clone troopers that survived the Clone Wars. Renamed by Palpatine's Declaration of a New Order, these clones of Jango Fett were immediately supplemented by three new stormtrooper clone batches grown in the Outer Rim Territories after the Battle of Kamino in 10 BBY. Lacking the guidance of the Jedi Generals, stormtroopers were "cut loose" to brutally enforce the new Imperial doctrine, quickly building a reputation as merciless, destructive, and endless in number.
By the time the Galactic Civil War began in earnest, Fett's progeny were heavily supplemented with clones from new DNA sources and troopers recruited in the traditional manner; non-clone stormtrooper recruits had first been introduced in 9 BBY. Despite this influx of new trooper sources, the ranks remained exclusively Human: an obvious sign of the New Order's High Human Culture. By 0 BBY, about one-third of the stormtroopers originated from the Fett DNA, though most of them were recruits.
...
According to several Expanded Universe sources, it would appear that by the time of the Galactic Civil War, stormtroopers were no longer exclusively clones. In Star Wars Empire 36: The Wrong Side of the War, Part 1, following the Imperial assault on Jabiim, Janek Sunber checks his surviving troops. At this point he comments that none of the regular Human troops under his command survived the battle and we are given a look at a group of blue-eyed and blonde clones, obviously a newer template. Sunber also says that the clones in the army are tough and he heard that during the Clone Wars they were even tougher. So, it would seem that with the expansion of the military following the rise of the Galactic Empire, new clone templates were created and regular Humans recruited partly because the lifespan of a Jango clone was roughly half that of an ordinary Human. Thus, a steady stream of clone and non-clone replacements would be required to fill the ranks of the stormtroopers.
There ya go. Solid evidence. A third are clones of Fett, others are clones of other dudes, and still others are recruits. Looks like I wasn't that far off.
