I thought I'd start thid thread for people to jot down their ideas for Attacktix, such as what to do for the re-launch, how the boosters should be packed, or some cool idea no one has thought of and you want to share. Here are a few of my random thoughts: Starter Sets should be like the Star Wars S2 touniment set with 3 exclusive figures, a booster, and a battle master. This would give a new player all the things needed to play and understand Attacktix. Boosters should have 3 figures. Really this needs to happen it was a better value and you seemed to get better figures. Also no clamshells those things were so hard to open! Also if your going to show us 4 new series of figures please relase them and if your finished with Attacktix then say so! I'll probably have another epiffiany some time and come up with more.

ok so i know we have had a lot of back and forth between blind or clear boosters. I am actually for blind boosters but i had an idea for clear ones what you could do is do boosters in two packs. Now we all know the much debated issue is shelf warmers. Well what if every booster had 2 figs AND a piece of terrain. What could be done is give the worst figures the absolute coolest terrain. This could possibly help eliminate figures just sitting on the shelf. With the best figures you get the lamest terrain, but u still buy cuz it has great figs....hopefully this would work the other way around as well.

Terrain is something not explored by Hasbro at this point though unless you count the Battle Case.

This has been talked about before in other treads, but I'm more than happy to post some of my ideas again.
Boosters should be the following.
1. Clear. 2. Thematic (Rebels with Rebels, Empire with Empire) 3. 2 per pack. 4. Retail around $7.
Other random thoughts.
1. No more tournament sets. They take up too much space on the shelves. It's easier to make them into 2 sets of a battle master with a figure included. 2. Battle boards need to be made and sold with exclusive figures. 3. Terrain packs need to be made that slide into the battle boards. Once again exclusive figures need to be included in these sets. 4. I like starter sets, but honestly, if we get clear boosters, I see no need for them anymore. They take up shelf space that I would like to see taken up by terrain. 5. Keep them in the toy aisle with the Star Wars/Transformers/Marvel merchandise. 6. Mail away figures would be nice. 7. Cereal box exclusive would be nice.
I'm sure I'll think of more later.

I think 4 packs like the starter sets use. The terrain piece is a good idea, but they should be interlocking to encourage people to buy multiples. In addition, the packaging needs to reflect that Attacktix is both a game and a toy, that gets a little more complicated. I think a "try me" feature would be great for the packs. Each pack of 4 should include at least one prodder and one striker that are accessible to kids hands so they can play with them in store. Hopefully they will spend a little time with them and the parents will see their kids playing with the toy while it is still in the box making it more likely to get sold. But that does not completely solve the "toy/game?" problem. I think using the phrase "Pick your squad, make your moves, launch your attack. last one standing Wins!" on the packaging will help some people realize that Attacktix is a game, but probably not most.
How does a product convey that it is a game and a toy? that is a concept people are not familiar with. It's great that Hasbro does conventions and tournaments and the like, but the best place to convince someone to buy is at the toy (or game) isle.
Perhaps pitching the tournaments is the key. Maybe the package should say "see Attacktix.com for info on Local Tournaments!" perhaps "tournaments" convey game and competition better than the very words "game" and "competition".
To me the logo "Attacktix, the Battle Figure Game" is enough info that this is a game and the figures look like toys, but people seem to have trouble grasping the concept.
I think the Attacktix logo needs to be on the sides of the base. There are two stickers front and back of the base and the left and right sides are left blank. To me, those are the perfect place to brand your product. Lets face it "Attacktix" is a strange name, it is hard for people to remember and for the people that don't grasp that Attacktix is a game, there is no way they will spell it right. So, I purpose that Attacktix be engraved or have the logo stick out of the base of the figure on the sides, so kids get familiarized with the name and they can tell their parents the name of the product they want for Christmas, birthday, or whatever.
I think the figures in the 4 pack are important to choose carefully. I think that sets will likely sell well. Imperials, Rebels, Clone Army, etc. But we should also take note to make sure that each set is cool enough for people to want. (I don't think a Nemoidian set will sell.) But once the people buy the figures, I think they should be encouraged to buy the others. Wouldn't it be great if Vader had an ability that put Luke and Leia into play from backups? After a few times playing and that coming up white, I think that kid is going to want to have his mom buy the Jedi pack ad the Rebel pack (which should have more cross over specials) . I'm not saying that every figure needs to cross over, I like team synergy, but I also like Attacktix selling off of shelves.
I think that Movie related packs will sell well. Look at the toy isle one of these days, it's like a commercial for a movie. I think Hasbro lost out HUGE when Iron Man came out to theaters and we did not have an Iron Man Attacktix pack, same with Hulk, and I fear the same with the new Star Wars animated movie next month. A 4 pack (starter set) using characters from the movie that is hot in theaters would sell well.
In addition to that idea, I think giving out promotional figures at movies is a great idea. Every kid that goes to see Star Wars on opening day/weekend should get a free figure. These are kids whose parents likely have some discretionary budget.
Finding a way to get 'Tix into Happy meals/kids meals would be a huge boost. Could you imagine if the Burger king toys that will inevitably come out with the SW movie were Attacktix Star Wars Figures? Kid all over would be asking what are these....Attacktix? And how can I get more?
Those are my thoughts.

Some good ideas across the board from radar. Meaningful and thematic synergy is a great way to encourage buying multiple sets, and promotion of local tournaments is a great way to increase sales, buzz and interest. On that note there has been a nice spike in activity here since tixcon. Having that happen in staggered intervals throughout the country would really help 'tix.

I'd like to see the starter like that S2 battle pack, but NO MEGA. 2 boosters of 2 figures each with an 'exclusive' pack of 2 in the middle that Target has one set with 2 guys, then Wally's has a 2 other guys as 'exclusive' and so on. That way the 'hunt' is still there, but the boosters are clear.

I really like the interlocking board idea. For those of you familiar with tile board games (such as Zombies!), this would be a great idea to sell terrain packs with several interlocking board panels. Terrain, as noted somewhere above already, could be "snapped" on somehow to these panels. And the panels alone could sell in packs, so people could make as big a playing surface as they want. Snap-on walls and stuff could make for real cool games, with workable lifts, explodable walls (like Crossbows and Catapults) and other trigger-activated mechanisms that could spell doom for Attacktix figures. I think terrain packs alone would be sought after just as much as the figures!

To expand on the terrain idea: Why not instead of 3 figures in a booster 2 figures and a piece of terrain. Retail: $8

Not sure how they would make the interlocking idea work for Attacktix? It's possible I'm sure with a little ingenuity. I like them to come up with a mat that is rolled up and comes with an exclusive figure like the battle case did.
Think of it. There could be an Endor, Danger Room, Hoth, Cybertron, Death Star, Tatooine, Naboo, or a City scene for Marvel. Then you can buy extra buildings and such to place on the board. The board could already have little areas in it where you can punch out holes and slide the buildings into place so they won't move. Lotz o' foon!

|sf>I really liked the Battle Case, because it was storage and terrain. However, it had two troubles. First, the rules and instructions for using the terrain were vague in spots. Secondly, the case always came with the same figure.
If Hasbro ever does a battle case again, there should be a random chance of one out of three exclusive figures (one from each product line). This encourages trading and buying more than one case.
I like the idea of half-blind boosters. You get to see the common with the remainder(s) being blind. Packaging could have a square plastic bubble on cardboard with it sealed and taped to it, ala the Heroes lines (except tall, instead of horizontal).
If there is terrain (that isn't a battle case), I still think that there should be a way to compactly store all pieces and be able to store some figures. Portability should be another factor.
I also think that there should be a small My First Attacktix style set containing four figures that are not allowed in Tournaments. It would include two shooters (with sights near the gun to teach newbies how to aim) and two strikers (easier strikers to teach people how to hit). One character would be a Transformer, one would be from Marvel, and two from Star Wars. This way, people could learn the rules in a more controlled environment before tackling experienced players.

This is a rule change: ALL FIGURES CAN ATTACK! It's a house rule with me, and the games are a lot more fun. Clear boosters, and go back to three figs per pack.
