Attacktix Anchor! Score!
You know what I missed out on though? I wanted to get a picture of Lou Ferrigno (Hulk) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) with their respective Attacktix figures like I did at C4. Sadly, I never made time to do it.

Holy cow it's a moderator reunion. Pete, my wife is the one actually taking the pictures. She is a staff photographer. Great Q&A Russell, again wish we could've met up. There's always next year with the re-launch. ;D

...Re-Launch was the word of the day. At the end of the day, I see from a business standpoint that they are working on it (if what he said is to be believed) and thus the approval and timeline is in place, otherwise they would not be working on it at all, and he would've said something like 'exploring all our options' which is codespeak for "Trying to find a buyer". Hats off to you as always Radar, you are hereby promoted from Cub Reporter to Attacktix Anchor! Don't get me wrong, I fully believe there is a relaunch effort ongoing, with some very earnest and hard working folks at Hasbro. I'm just tempering that with at any given moment, someone else at Hasbro can change things in an instant. So if I actually see a timeline announced or at least alluded to, that gives me an inkling of how far up the chain the commttment level is. Holy Guacamole: Joe Manzo, SFX5000, Radar & JayDouble commenting in the same thread within a day! Catch me, I am going to faint! Thanks Radar & Jay for the great reports from San Diego Comic-Con '08! San Diego is a great, fun, beautiful City with a nice Convention Center. And thanks Mr. Wilk for sharing what you could with us!

That's why we fall into the "believe it when I see it" category. I have high expectations that we will see these again. I am however a little concerned about any changes to the figures themselves. For instance. They could make it to where strikers are pulled back, lock into place, then have a button that you push to release the catch to make them strike. I would hate to see this happen and hope it doesn't, but I could see it happening so it makes striking easier for kids and eliminates all chances of "power striking" (which all of us who know how to do still have the tendency to still do - me included). Just don't make my collection obsolete by giving the figures a make-over. Give me clear boosters. Give me battle boards. Give me exclusives. Give me battle packs of army builder figures. Give me terrain. I'll give you my monies in return. Deal?

Even though we've learned nothing new, it is still reassuring to hear at least something about Attacktix from the horse's mouth. I'm just hoping BW's comment about "don't sell your figures" means that the new figures won't make our current ones obsolete. That's my biggest worry about all of this, and I can see I'm not alone. Thanks Radar & Jay for the great reports from San Diego Comic-Con '08! San Diego is a great, fun, beautiful City with a nice Convention Center. And thanks Mr. Wilk for sharing what you could with us! Yes, thank you both very much for the SDCC coverage! Who are these "Joe" and "Phoenix" characters? Welcome to the boards newbies Ha! Yeah, welcome back! It's good to hear from you two again! Q: Is there anything the fans can do to help? A: Keep petitioning! You have no idea how effective that is. Hasbro listens to its' customers. We respect what they think and the petition really made an impact. I signed it. Keep petitioning. Wow, you guys have no idea how proud that comment just made me! With that said... SHAME ON ALL THOSE WHO ARE AWARE OF THE PETITION AND HAVEN'T SIGNED IT! Amen! Actually GE, that locking mechanism is a pretty good idea. It would make the game a lot easier to play for young kids.
DONP, fear not, Hasbro is not looking to make old figures obsolete, however realistically, power creep is a real factor, and it tends to make older figures less playable competitively...Clone Leiutenant anyone? I didn't think so.

I didn't think so. Eh, power creep is a problem for any game that's been around long enough, so that's to be expected. In any case, I'm glad to hear all the big bucks I've spent collecting past and present figures weren't spent in vain.

Eh, power creep is a problem for any game that's been around long enough, so that's to be expected. I would hop in here with a story about another game, the Magic ccg that was the springboard for modern collectible games. In the very first set, 15 years ago, there was a cycle of cards commonly referred to as "boons"...there was one for each color, each cost 1, and gave you 3 back of [something]. The white one gave you 3 life (or hit points if you will), the green one made a creature 3 points bigger, the black one gave you 3 points to spend, the red did 3 damage, and the blue let you draw 3 cards. Here's what happened...it was quickly decided (say after a year or less) that the blue one was way too good...it was restricted to one per deck. (1 out of 60 cards). A couple years later, it was decided the black one was too good as well, and they stopped reprinting it (meaning you couldn't use it anymore in most tournaments). A couple of years after that, the same thing happened to the red one. A couple of years after THAT, they decided the white one wasn't good enough, and they made a new version that was more powerful. And to this day, the green one is unchanged, it was, as Goldilocks would say, just right. So what's the point of my story? These were all power level adjustments...some were power creep (the white one), the others were power seep, and one stayed the same. But all of those adjustments over time have hopefully made the game better and more balanced.

Yeah, Giant Growth (the green one) is great.
I like the idea of adjustments, it is one of the main reasons I think we shouldn't play tournaments with more than one of the same named character.

Yes it would. I just fear what it would do to the other "older" figures. I've got no problems limiting figures to a 1 per basis, I just don't ever want to have a figure become obsolete due to "power surge". And if you really think about it, it's not really that absurd to create this type of figure. We already have it in C3P0 and touchdown Vader. It's just a matter of where do you make a catch release or button to push on the figure? The head, side, leg, base? Not sure, but it could work.

Thanks for the update Radar, and thanks to Ionic Design for pointing it out to me in the first place.
Those answers sound like Brian expects a relaunch, and all along I've felt more like he was hoping there would be a relaunch. I'm still not holding my breath (I'm very much in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp) but I do feel more hopeful that we'll see Attacktix again someday.

Yes, it sounds like it's a go. I just want to know how much longer the wait is going to be.

I am still in the "Mr. Wilk, don't make me cut you" phase of my withdrawls, so I will remain exceedingly cautiously optimistic with a hint of "yeah right, if it wasn't for some of the peeps here I'd have detonated all my figs"

That looks fantastic, Radar! I've been dying to go to Comic-Con for years now, and those amazing pictures just fuel my desire. Luckily I've pretty much confirmed that fact that I'll be going next year. Maybe I'll run into you there.
Also, in the last picture towards the center, there's a banner with a picture of an Uruk-Hai on it. Do you know what it's for? Are they pumping out the hype for The Hobbit movie already?
