That's ridiculous!! And, sadly, someone will probably buy them. But why would you want those? You can't put them into play, they don't look good to be displayed... and I doubt any of us can replicate them. Crazy.

Don't know if the Prototypes will work, but I just noticed that the Tournament Figures have 3 available of each, so you MAY be able to get one for around $20... but you gotta beat George first! ;D

Let us know how it is when it arrives - is it thick? thin? brightly colored? the picture of it is so little on the auction and I dont think it reflects it's coolness.

The goofiest one is the Darth with the long, wilted light saber.

Yeah, they look goofy. However, they hold the possibility of becoming extremely valuable if this game truly takes off. There is the chance that 10 years from now people will be spending hundreds of dollars to have one of the test figures that started it all...but I'm still not bidding. -Radar

Yea, they are a little silly lookin'. But, there is a factor in owning them beyond the fact that they might be valuable one day. In having a prototype you own an almost secret little piece of this thing that you love, something that not everybody will be able to have. Kinda makes them special. I know from which I speak. Some of the older folks around here might remember the "Centurions", a toy line from the 80's... one of my favorite toy lines from the 80's. The first series had 3 good guys and 2 bad guys. The line was supposed to expand with a second series introducing 2 new good guys (who had made their way onto the cartoon). Unfortunately, the Centurions line was cancelled before these new figures could be produced or released. Over the course of the past 10 years or so I was actually able to track down and purchase Kenner hand-painted (they look much better than these Attacktix prototypes) prototypes of both of these figures! They are the pride and joy of my collection. They could be worth $5.00 (doubtful) or $5,000.00... I'm not sure, and really don't care. Just having this little rare slice of a treasured childhood memory is worth all the money in the world.

I just want the Vader with the droopy saber! I never really had any prototype toys. I did have a test deck of Marvel's Overpower card game.
I doubt they are worth any more than the paper they are printed on!
If anyone DOES buy one of these, I'd like to know if it is SUPER strong. Or if it even works. Only Plo has a bid so far.

The only aspect of these prototypes that interestes me is that you can see precisely where the joints between pieces are on them, and hence where they're likely to break. I'll probably download the pics of the figures tonight to have this information.

I'm not sure that this guy's to be trusted. He's got less than 30 positive feedback and..... That just looks like an unpainted Vader while... looks like a prototype. Both of them are listed as prototypes. Anyway, all I'm saying is to be careful. -Radar

The first one is a prototype as well. It's actually evidence of the clear plastic lightsabers and missiles shown in the Series 1 booklet.

after collecting gijoe 3 3/4" prototypes for a while i find these pieces for auction interesting
i wanna add that just because something is a different color than production doesnt mean its a true prototype there have been instances of hasbro employees after hours when noone is around using their molds and random colors to mimic the look of a prototype and selling tons for profit
if anything the first vader seems more the the sure deal for exactly the reason stated above the clear saber hand is as the one used in the hand painted prototypes in the original booklet
im going to go out and guess the saber/hand was decided to be a separate piece because they needed it to be not painted and if it was it would rub off in heavy play if it wasnt separate and not painted it would be the color of the character's arm (agen kolar would have a tan lightsaber etc)
as far as the clear sabers/missiles vs the opaque ones actually produced: hasbro makes clear plastic toy pieces in 2 strengths rubbery (think 3-3/4" x-wing pilot helmet) and stiff as heck (think jedi force blasts) the rubbery wouldnt work in knocking figs over and the stiff would just snap off so they went with the middle plastic that is opaque its stong enough to knock figs over yet bendable enough not to snap in two
anyhoo
my 2,000 cents -G
