I've devised a set of house rules for implementing coordinated attacks using captain and leader figures.
If a player attacks with a captain figure during his attack phase, the player may attack with an additional figure of the same faction (that is not a captain or leader). This secondary attack must be played first, then the captain gets to make his primary attack. Secondary attack + primary attack = 1 attack for the player during his attack phase.
Leaders can coordinate up to 2 secondary attacks in addition to its primary attack (totaling 3 separate attacks to count as 1 during a player's attack phase).
These are just some general guidelines in order to get more effectiveness out of armies with a commanding presence. I have more complicated rules outlined for this in my ever-expanding "booklet" of houserules, but I thought I'd throw this out in a more simplified form to see what the general reaction is to this radical use of captain and leader figures.

That looks like a great idea that could be a lot of fun. I can't wait to try playing this way.

That does sound like a good idea, it would definitely make me select my team differently and give more value to the "ranks".
I think though it works better for just captians. Captians seem like a unit that could use some help, this would add to their popularity. I do like the limit of the "same faction".
You could limit each team to have only one leader, and Leaders can coordinate up to 2 secondary attacks (like you said), but the secondary attacks can only be for captians.
You could also do this with the captians, where their support can only come from troopers. This would encourage having an army with an actual hierarchy.
Even further, when leaders order an attack from their captians the captians can also order their troopers, giving a player 5 attacks as 1 normal attack. This would make your leaders and captians prime targets for your opponent, for if the kill your leader it limits your number of attacks (simulating an actual battle, cut off the head the body dead, sorta).
I don't mean to pervert your ideas, these are just some suggestions, i know i'm gonna try these out my self though, to see if they work, or if they just create a juggernaut of an army.

That was good input Notacomputer... Worth trying out these ideas and see if they work. I can see where it would be a problem getting all these attacks if you're playing a 100 point team (a single team could wipe out its opponent first round), but I think these guidelines for coordinating attacks would be more appropriate for large-scale battles like me and Attacktixrulz are used to (400 points or 500 points). Plus, it would encourage much more strategy on the battlefield and in picking your figures. Me and Attacktixrulz will definitely do some playtesting with large battles..

I'm a fan of these ideas; it'd certainly help out a lot in making teams with higher point value figures more powerful. I'm not sure exactly when I'll be able to try this out, but with a large enough army (i.e., at least 200 points, in my estimation; probably more), it seems like it'd make for some fun war games, especially for Republic/Separatist or Droid Army and Rebel/Empire battles. In particular, it'd finally give the Series 1 Clone Lieutenant a reason for being! However, it would really disadvantage Sith-based teams, if they didn't have Warriors (e.g., Series 1 Vader, Darth Maul). Then again, perhaps that's the nature of the Sith It's interesting to contemplate how this ruleset would work (particularly as modified by notacomputer) with the Jedi team, too. Without the trooper/captain only mods, the Jedi could just have lots of Jedi Knights that would be the beneficiaries of the extra attacks. However, I believe they'd be limited to the Starter 2 Clone Commanders for extra attacks (and only from Jedi Leaders like Starter 1 Kenobi) with the notacomputer mods.

Ya i have alot of clones (i just think they're cool) and thats kinda what i had in mind. A large "regular army" (i.e. clones, stormtroopers, ect.) doesn't seem to be as effective as it should (with the exception of the droid arm, they're real balanced) With these mods big battles could be real fun, and like you said give purpose to some "unpopular characters"

My expanded house rules allow only launcher figures to be secondary attackers for leaders/captains. That way, strikers cannot be used in coordinated attacks since this would imply that they would get another move.
Also, me and Attacktixrulz often allow factions to side with other factions. Wookie, Rebel, and Jedi factions for instance, often work with each other. And Empire and Sith do as well. That way you could have that Al Mundi Jedi guy coordinating attacks with some launcher troopers that have sided from another faction. Or you could have Count Dooku coordinating attacks with some super battle droids.
