I've been on here a while, and I don't recall seeing this discussion. After some reeeeeeaaaaaaaallllllly close and significant calls during last night's game, I'd like to hear others' thoughts.
Here's my query ...
I'd like to know what other people's house rules are when the special power indicator is less-than-fully white. If I recall correctly (please let me know if I'm wrong on this), it must technically be at least 50% white.
But, come on, I don't think my household is the only one where you come up with indicators that you honestly can't tell if they're at least half white. And, when you have to argue about whether it's at least 50%, it really takes the fun out of the game.
Right now, I'm considering declaring a house rule in which, if any white is showing, it counts ... but I don't want to make it too easy.
Any thoughts on this?

What I usually do is roll the wheel back and forth, but stopping before it acutally 'tix in either direction. In the back and forth rolling you can pretty much tell what color is present the majority of the time and that's the color we go with.

Here's my query ... Yeah, I'm not sure we've had this discussion on its own thread, at any rate I'm not sure where it has been published that the window must be at least 50% white in order to activate. But telling whether it's 45% or 55% - heck, even 51% or 49% - would be really onerous. I agree that it could lead to lots of untoward arguments. I'd blathered about this on rule 4.1.6.2 of my unofficial tournament rules, and it's generally how I play. Basically, if there's a question, I'll Tix a figure back 1 Tix, then forward 1 Tix in the hope that the window will resolve. If that doesn't work, go forward then back 1 Tix. If it's still unclear, assume it's black. Then again, that last assumption is mostly because I play with my all Jedi Knight team and assume that special pwors are never going to come up. If I played with figures that had higher probabilities of coming up, I'd likely want to have the assumption be that it's white. You might even have different assumptions based on special power probabilities (e.g., if a figure's normal probability of coming up white is less than 50%, assume it's black; if its probability of coming up white is 50% or greater, assume it's white).

The back and forth tix works very well, and I am nearly always able to tell by using that method. I've solved several controversies for my kids that way.

There is a SURE-FIRE SOLUTION. I've got this problem with my amigo Dave and he always complains, so here's the house rule: when a unit is killed, BEFORE turning it over, he has to look at the red/black window on top and if it's not 100% black or 100% red, he has to roll it forward or backward (no tix-ing allowed) to fill that window. Magically, there have been no "What the xxxx man this is Bxxxxxxx man I hate this game man this is garbage man" comments as it is ALWAYS 100% black or white on the bottom. At least in my experience.

I do the same think as sfx5000 and have had no problems.

I used to do the Sfx method of rolling it back and forth, but I really like Superflynt's method, that seems like it would quell any controversy.

I do the same thing as SFX, it is so much easier!

The best part of my method is that if you're playing with a punk whiner there's no way for them to cheat by seeing the bottom first and rolling it in their favor.
