I still feel Attacktix's blind packaging (when packed correctly) is a great system, if you have a community like this.
Since you should always get a C,R,SR then you SHOULD be able to trade for something of equal rarity.
In theory, a completist could by 15 boxes and have enough material to trade for a complete set, without going crazy.
Unlike blind single packed figures, where you could get a lame guy, or a Super-Chase Variant Special guy the BEST you could get is a chrome, (and for players-only that doesn't matter)
OR even worse, with multiple blind boxes like Star Wars miniatures or HeroClix ARGH!!!! You can get a box of Thug, Medic, and Crap-Man! Hell I got two generics in ONE box before.
So, if Hasbro must do blind, they sure picked the best way to do it. And it DOES keep costs down, because figures that WOULD be seen and NOT bought, get bought. But you can read all that in the Palisade thread. Hasbro's system is the best one from all the games I've experienced!
ETA: Blind packaging is just very popular right now. It allows for more figures to be produced. But Attacktix is also like action figure versions of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards... which come in sealed packs. This makes it fun for kids to collect... There are not many adults who collect Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards just to have them all and not play (from what I saw in my retail experience) So because Attacktix is a game first, it gets packaged like the card game system.
Also, the TWO playable figure games that did NOT come blind (Wizkids Shadowrun Duels and Toy Biz Showdown) are doing pretty bad. Now is that because of the game play? Maybe, but it doesn't support the case.
Basically, you can blame it all on Pokemon. Gotta catch 'em all... even when you have no idea what's inside.
