Just wanted to mention, I stopped by 7 Eleven today, the Iron Man "straw toppers" are near perfect sized figures of Iron Man movie characters for customizing...

IRON MAN 20 points - Warrior - Avengers - 6 Speed - Medium Base I cannot wait to see this movie. As I'm sure most of you have seen, the merchandise is in full effect. Well, imagine my surprise when I realized that the "straw holders" that 7 Eleven was selling were nearly perfect in terms of scale for 'Tix. As always, the labels make the finishing touches. This Iron Man is number 1 in his own series. I also have the Prototype Armor and Iron Monger on the way. A little more work than normal on the weapon, a trim and paint job really makes it shine though. I used the blue missile to match the blue and white "energy ring" on his palm and chest. And there you have it. One of the least expensive customs I've done in a while. No articulation yet, but, once I get another one tracked down I'm going to experiment with putting a magnet joint in the shoulder.

That is really cool. I saw a blurb on a comic book toy site (marvelousnews.com) about these guys and instantly thought 'tix but I wasn't sure about the size. Nicely done.

Absolutely love Iron Man! And the paint job on the launcher makes it even more fantastic! Already +1 K'd you last night.
Can't wait to see this movie too, we're making a day of it with some friends.

Odd...at first glance...this doesn't even look like any sort of custom. Perhaps a closer look... Hmmm...SI...SI, I wonder what that stands for... The Skrulls are here. The Secret Invasion is upon us!!! So as you might have noticed, I take a lot of pride in my custom labels. And I've been wondering, what would be a good project that just involved labels...is there anything worthwhile? And then the Secret Invasion storyline came along...and Elektra (already a 'tix) is the first invader to be revealed. So let's take another look... SKRULLEKTRA - (SI/1)
- 20 points
- Warrior
- Skrull
- 12 Speed
- Sai Slash Attack
- Small Base Defense
- Attackback - If White > Free move and attack for your Skrulldevil figure.
Hmmm. Interesting so far, but why pay 10 point more for this version? Perhaps the answer lies with the Skrulldevil figure her Special Power refers to. But first, a special note on the Skrulls. They all have a special rule: The [Skrull] Class counts as every Marvel Class for the purposes of resolving Special Powers and Effects. Well, there's a bonus. So how about her partner in crime? SKRULLDEVIL - (SI/2)
- 30 points
- Warrior
- Skrull
- 12 Speed
- Billy Club Uppercut Attack
- Small Base Defense
- Evade - If White > Your opponent may not attack any of your figures with Skrull in their name on their next turn.
Very cool. But again, we notice right away... Skrulldevil costs a full 10 points more again than his non-Skrull counterpart. Perhaps he has a new effect? And there it is. One of the few times it actually makes it more worthwhile to have a higher point cost. With this effect in play, your opponent's defeated figures become fair game for your Special Powers. And thanks to the special Skrull rules, you don't have to worry if you're not playing X-Men or Avengers. So there you have it, some easy to make customs that put a whole new spin on the characters. Check back week to week as we see what others characters in the Marvel U start showing up "in the green"...

Very, very cool. Nice take on a current story line.
Perhaps the next round of figures could have some bumpy green chins.

Love the theme and especially the SkrullDevil Special effect. Really, really like the Skrull head faction symbol. Great job!

OK, so this isn't a custom per se so much as a repurposing of some new toys for 'tix purposes. I was strolling through Target the other day and saw some cool Tech Deck street scenes. Here's what 4 various sets look like all spread out... I bought the one set to start, brought it home, fooled with it a bit, and thought, "Now this, this would work for 'tix." Here's a cool and simple layout for an example... A little bit more of a perspective shot... ...and from above behind Cobra Commander... ...and a bit closer to better see the scale... The only house rules are as such...stairs "cost" 4 speed, so even the slowest characters can mount them if needed. Ramps are at speed, with the "gravity rule"...if you don't have enough speed to reach the top, you slide back down and stand at the bottom at the end of your move. The small sets are about 10 bucks, the larger ones are about 15. This particular lay out used the bulk of three sets. Enjoy, and as always, feedback welcome.

Oh man, that is so cool!!! Looks like a ton of fun! ;D Do these sets come with little skateboard things, so basically you are getting dual purpose? Sort of gives Tix a Heroscape element would you say? Curious, who makes this, manufacturer?

Slick to be sure! I wonder, since you've delved into the skrull world, if ROM will be making an appearance? I made one out of a Scout Trooper and Stormtrooper, but the Enamel paint I used never dried, so he's gone by the wayside.
