Well, the AT-AT Hoth Imperial Walker mega is complete! I've painted it all, acrylic clearcoated it, and I am done. Never again. Stats: Imperial Walker (Hoth) Points: 80 Point Mega Speed: 6/7 Special: Rescue // Return this figure to the starting line if you have another figure in play (15%) Weaponry: Dual Medium Missiles So, here's what you've been waiting for! Still photos: Front Base View 45 Degrees from rear to right And for those who are interested, I've also made a short (4 Min) tutorial on how to make these: video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7299782849906514425

Nice! I like the more thematic base. I almost bought the original that was at TixCon but I was to cheap to buck up the cash ;D.

Thanks...I like this a LOT better too. It Tix a lot easier (glides like butter) and the base is a wee bit lighter. Also, the head is a LOT steadier due to using 2 'pony-tails' rather than one, and the targets are a bit larger.
The reason this is taking so God-awful long is that I had the desire to hand paint it (BIG BIG MISTAKE) and I've gone through about 6 layers trying to give it a 'dirty military vehicle' look since someone told me that it was WAY too clean looking last time.

Was the AT-AT originally a model or did you build it from scratch? Either way, it looks really good.

This really puts my idea for a 'Deluxe' sized STAP to shame....
(I say 'Deluxe' since it might not really qualify as a full 'Mega', but will probably end up larger than a normal Large based figure...)

Megazarak - Yes, this was a model originally. This is the "Return Of The Jedi" (which makes NO sense) AMT/Ertl Level 2 model kit.
Imvader3 - This will pop up and whatnot, but as for falling over, I haven't tried it. Generally speaking, I try not to have them tip-able because in my view the tip-ability factor also makes for an easier 1-hit kill with a striker, which I wanted to avoid. I just can't see one guy with a lightsaber killing an AT-AT....uh, except Luke. ;D

Very nice job! How did you get the base to be white and get all of that wreckage stuff in there? Are you going to post it's stats soon?

JW18: Thanks Man!
SammyCakes: Look at the tutorial video, otherwise, I removed Spiderman's tower, then the 'guts' of the mechanism were completely exposed. I took some bubblewrap (the small bubbles) and popped some at the edges after sizing, then superglued them over the mechanism. The mechanism looks a bit like a rectangle with a square sitting on top of it, pushed all the way to the back. Then, I took another piece and put it across the first, but widthwise to cover the sides. It ended up looking like a cross, but with a really fat upright. Once that was superglued, I used low-temp hot glue to cover the bubblewrap, and I moved it in circles and used a fan to cool it faster so it would stay put. Then I used the (Thanks SO SO SO SO SO Much Dvandom for the help with paint choice) Apple Barrel paints on top of Testor's Acryl (the basecoat) to paint. 9 coats it took to get that color and sheen. Finally, I assembled the legs by dry-assembling the whole thing, determined where the legs needed to be in relation to the base, and drilled holes in the feet and the base. I took 1-penny nails and nipped the ends off for rods, bent them with a pliers into a "C" shape, and stitched them in. Super epoxied them all together, and added the snow drifts interconnecting the base and model. Then I realized that the back leg was a bit too flimsy, so I fashioned a steel rod to hold it to the base, drilled/epoxied and then hot glued to make that snow drift between that rear leg that hangs back and the base. This thing is so so solid.
More paint, then clearcoated it to death (made my dog puke from the fumes) and here we are.

TNT,you say your dog puked from the fumes did you remember to keep a window open? Also, you did a phenomenol job on the AT-AT's new paint job

Man, I just saw this. And what can I say, but great job! The base looks great, and so does the color of the AT-AT itself. It looks like you a put a lot of time into this, but it was well worth it. You really are one of the best customizers on the board. Now get out there and crush the rebel scum.

Wow, this really is an awesome job. You put a lot of work into this and it shows! Great custom! I am so Freakin' jealous, I'll have to just express it with criticism. It looks like it's mired in melted marshmallows and the snow is "way too clean looking." Ha ha, I'm just ribbing you man. No, but really the AT-AT is my favorite vehicle and you've done a wonderful job customizing it!
