Thanks! I'm probably done for now, unless I decide to get some SW ones specifically for kitbashing.

This one will require a bit more explanation, since it's not a character from mass-media. The North American Combine, or NAC, is one of the supra-nations in my Academy of Super-Heroes fictional setting, a sort of future sci-fi superhero deal set in the 2020s, a generation after a massive disaster killed all the superhumans and about two thirds of the regular humans. By 2025, there's enough new superhumans that the mid-power ones are being used a super-cops, with the NAC reviving the idea of the U.S. Marshals. Each NAC Marshal has some superpowers, but is either at the lower end of the power scale or too focused on just one area (as opposed to being well-balanced in offense/defense/movement) to be on the main national superteam. Equipped with bodyarmor, a sidearm and extensive training, the goal is to have a squad of them in every major city by 2028. I built this from an AT-ST Driver figure. I cut off both forearms and reattached them in new positions using pegs and glue so that he'd hold the gun in just one hand. I also filed off the edges of the gun's handle so it could be held pointed straight out instead of at a slight angle. I cut away a lot of the helmet, and then used Milliput epoxy putty to build up the new details (helmet, neck armor, chest armor, shoulderpads, elbowpads, knee armor, belt buckle and pouches, holster). I decided not to make a shock baton to glue to the other hip, although one is a standard part of the kit. And, of course, a custom label. I decided to leave the special power (Attackback: Leader) alone, as it works fine for a Marshal supporting superheroes. ---Dave, also got an IG-88, but Lucas droids are hard to work with.

Dvandom, you should make a custom Cobra Commander. When I first saw your custom, I thought it was a weird expanded universe version of Cobra Commander.(Cobra Commander is from G.I. Joe, and normally has two different Costumes Helmet or cloth)

Well, I try to avoid making customs of figures I'm pretty sure we'll get official ones of (hence no Galvatron robot mode, despite having a spare Megatron). And JoeTix are on the calendar, aren't they? Now, I wouldn't say no to eventually making a "helmet off" Cobra Commander once we get a regular one. ---Dave, did get an idea for IG-88, and it even fits the Capture power Iggy has.

Khadam is the main fictional rogue nation in my Academy of Super-Heroes setting, founded shortly after WWII by expat German soldiers hiding behind a front of native tribes in the vicinity of Ghat, Libya. It got a boost of tech by finding a crashed alien ship in the desert, and made a name for itself as a supervillain haven in the 1970s before being forced to officially kick them all out (onto an artificial island they helped make in the Mediterranean). Their mooks are divided into three categories, based on the three colors in their national flag. Gold troopers are the elite, guardians of the Citadel at the heart of Khadam. Not superhuman, but equipped with all sorts of nifty tech, some of which is reverse-engineered alien stuff. White troopers are the cannon fodder mooks, and Green troopers are more of a scummy merc arm that patrols the city of Ghat and culls people for use in genetic experiments. I might make a Scout Trooper into a White and another AT-ST driver into a Green if I buy more. Anyway, this Gold Trooper is made from a regular Stormtrooper with a lot of putty and a lot of cutting. The backpack is from a box of old GIJoe accessories I have (my mom gave all my old Joes to Goodwill, but the boxes of accessories survived that purge). I modified his power to work on Khadam forces rather then Empire ones. ---Dave

Looks like dvandom.com is down for a bit. Hopefully it'll come up soon. Like, before I finish the IG-88 mod. ---Dave Edit: It's back up. The modem cable had come unplugged somehow. And no, the server owner does not have cats.

Dr01d is a mix of physical robot and hard light tech, created using remnants of technologies salvaged from Haven, the old artificial island once inhabited by supervillains (as mentioned in the entry for the Khadamite Gold Trooper). The extra arm is from the old 1990s Mojo Toy Biz figure. The chest is a missile pod from a set of plastic mech minis I got online. The boots are parts of a cheap Bic pen with hot glue injected for solidity. The left hand came from a Mechwarrior figure, and the "eye" is a wheel taken from a Mechwarrior vehicle. I painted it almost entirely in neon paints. Those paints are gloppy and cover poorly, hence the lower level of detail. Even the darker blue neon paint requires a half dozen coats. I painted the head of the missile in neon green so it'd glow too. The missile plastic doesn't take paint well, though, so I expect it'll shred off after a single impact. ---Dave

Holy mackerel - way to bring your universe into the realm of Attacktix! And if that's the lower limit of the detail you put on your figures - wow. Just - wow.

Totally awesome, as usual. I hate working with neon paints too but you still did a great job. You must have a very steady hand.

Thanks. One nice thing about Milliput putty is that once it cures properly, you can carve pretty fine detail into it. There's actually a new generation craft putty out there that's even better, from what I've heard from other customizers, but it's only available online in fairly large quantities, so I'll stick with the Milliput I have for now. Currently turning a Tarkin into Dan "Grind" Tracey, using Squadron putty (softer, but easier to work with in small amounts) to smooth out Tarkin's face and add hair. At some point I'll probably want to do a trade of the figures I can't use (like the chrome-based Wicket I got today, or Admiral Akbar) for more simple human figures. But I'll wait until after the holiday postal crunch. BTW, the ASH Gallery and ASH Kitbash Gallery have a lot of other characters in them, for those interested in seeing some of the things I might make in the future. ---Dave

A somewhat simpler mod this time. I used Squadron putty to flesh out Tarkin's sallow face and add some hair, I dremeled off the jodphur thighs and chest details, and added some details with styrene (rod bits for the buttons, a piece of strip for the rank insignia, and a hole-punched circle for the shoulder patch). Dan Tracey, aka "Grind", got his nickname/codename in school, for his tendency to have his nose to the grindstone. Not literally, though...the scar across the bridge of his nose was acquired relatively recently. He's the field commander of STRAFE - Superhuman Tactical Resources and Affiliated Field Experts. A SHIELD-like organization. His power is to be practically perfect. Like Captain America, but with mental aspects as well as physical. Needless to say, he tends to be kinda hard on himself. And yes, now I can grind Grind. ---Dave

Well, I can't do a sex change on a figure, so unless there's some non-Leia female figures in Series 1-3, I won't be able to make the women of STRAFE. And sculpting a white guy's face into a black guy's face is probably also beyond me, so Tony Drake of STRAFE is probably also out. ---Dave
