Marvel Heroscape is now $12.48 at Target, at least the ones out here. Get 'em while you can. They might go lower after XMAS, but then again, there might not be any left.

Oh wow! That is a heck of a deal. I wonder if I should pick up another one of them?
I am kinda annoyed or, impatient would be a better term, with Heroscape. Man it's so hard to set up and start to play. I really miss new Attacktix. They are simplistic when it comes to start time. Heroscape you have to take the time to build the board, get out the cards, get out the dice, get out the markers, get out the hit markers, and the figures. Blah! And THEN you can start to play.
I like making the boards, that part if fun. It seems that I get bored a little once that task is complete though.
Anyone else have this problem?

That's one thing that kept me away from HeroScape in the past. "Back in the day" when the game was introduced, I was heavily into card games and video games. A friend of mine picked up one of the first starter packs and tried getting me into it. The time it took to set up a game seemed to take away from the fun of actually playing, so I decided that the game just wasn't for me. But from what I've seen, all set-up times pale in comparison to Warhammer.

Wow, $13 is a steal for this game. Personally, I like it a ton better than the regular Heroscape set that's collecting dust in our basement. My reasoning is that I prefer it because it has less tiles to have to mess with when building, less characters that you have to fiddle with, the characters are recognizable and not just "generic robot alien #7", and the game plays faster because you don't have to deal with multiple squads plus each character is much more unique with lots of fun abilities (Captain America FTW). For $13, you can't go wrong.
Although the main game isn't the reason I got this little ditty for Christmas. Ever since I saw the previews for Marvelscape one thing has been on my mind: Epic Duels. These guys are the perfect size for ED figures (just a head bigger than the average ED miniature) and would make for some fun decks. If any Epic Duels players are interested, I'll send you the decks as I make them.
However, the fact that this game is on clearance worries me. That means it might not have sold well which means the boosters might not be coming which means I'll only have ten Marvel Duels figures. That thought makes me sad considering that Punisher, Doc Ock, and some other cool characters were in the pipeline. Hope it's not true that another Hasbro Marvel game got hit by the cancel-stick...

I went to a Target in Asheville, NC on my way home from a trip, and they had it for $20. I went to a Wal-Mart yesterday and I got set for $21. You guys are lucky.

Went back to two different Targets and they were all sold out of the Marvel HeroScapes. Don't worry though, I think its Target doing its Clearance thing. Crossbow & Catapults Expansion & Armory packs were also heavily discounted, now all gone. Except the main pack, still $35. So who knows how they decide what to discount?!?
Update 1/3/08:
Checked another Target across town and MV HeroScape was $17.98. Go figure.

What's Epic Duels? I picked up Marvel Battle SliderZ at Dollar Tree and many of the figs are close in size to MV HeroScapes, especially Thing, Rhino, Galactus and a couple of others.

It's a Star Wars game that came out in 2002 that allows players to re-enact battles with either a major and minor character team or a major and two "grunts" team. Each preset team has decks of cards that are used to drive the action, and it's got an online following, five years after being discontinued. Cool I was able to take advantage of the deal listed in the original post, so thanks for pointing out the Heroscape Marvel clearance!

Yodabreaker took care of the main bits. If you're really interested, here is the BoardGameGeek page as well as the Epic Duels fan community Wiki. The game's price has inflated many, many times since its release and it's not uncommon to see it sell for $80 on Ebay. Personally, I find it to not only be a fun two-player game but also a fun party game, easily holding up to six players. It is also has an incredibly streamlined game engine that is very fun to build off of. I'd definitely at least check out the online version (which can be found on the linked Wiki). Back on main topic, I've played a couple of rounds of Marvelscape and can now say the following things: Captain America is broken at 220 points, Hulk is insane when you get him up to 11 attack, and it sucks when the game comes down to you with a melee only character like Hulk or Abomination against two ranged characters up on the warehouse upper floor. Stalemate sucks.

I found a few packs of those at a local Dollar Tree months ago... My family loved them, so I went back to buy more and they were all sold out! I've been to every Dollar Tree around here with no luck. I bought these when I had the chance: Spider-Man, Dr. Octopus, the Sandman, Thing, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Wolverine and Iron Man. Anyway, I bought Marvel Heroscape for full price when it first came out, and I really enjoy it. Quite a fun game! Of course, I was hooked on the original Heroscape to begin with...

I checked out Epic Duels on eBay, Grievous, and you're absolutely right, fetchin' $80 and up! (way up for NIB). Saw a Transformers version of the game, but no Marvel. Are you guys talking about using MV Heroscape figs to make your own Epic Duels? Yeah, Zincdust, the Battle Sliderz sold out real quick! I was lucky enough to get duplicates of most, which is why I'm interested in maybe turning some of them into HeroScape figs. And Grievous' Epic Duels is very intriguing.

Are you guys talking about using MV Heroscape figs to make your own Epic Duels? Yup, I'm currently working on using the Marvelscape figures to make my own expansion of ED. It's actually pretty fun and indepth since the key isn't to make the best characters but to make them balanced. And now I'm interested in these BattleSliderz things. How big are they in comparison the the Heroscape figures? Bigger or smaller? If they fit well, then I might just have found another source for characters...

It's got me kicking myself for giving my nephews a brand new set still in wrapper that they quickly destroyed.

Would it be alright to post some pictures of them next to the HeroScape figs for comparison, Grievous or is that going overboard? Some guy on eBay has his own custom MV HScape figs and cards. I sent him a message and he said the Colossus fig was from HeroClix and the base was from WarHammer. Don't kick yourself too much, GE, I've done plenty of stuff like that!

Well, a PM with the images would probably be less cluttering for the thread...
