This is yet another reason I don't read Marvel comics.

I've read my fair share of Marvel comics, but never in my life have I read Captain America. I've learned way more about him from Marvel Ultimate Alliance than I ever knew before! That's one way to end the series I suppose, but it seems a bit unpatriotic to kill the guy off.

Did it just become unprofitable to keep him around?
I'm guessing we have not seen the end of Captain America.

Well, the E! article above has a Marvel publisher stating that while Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, is dead that doesn't mean there won't be a new one to pick up the mantle, or shield so to speak. It's also interesting to note the anti-comic tone of the article...
I doubt it'll be long before we see Rogers return, though. Everyone comes back in comic books, it is an unwritten law.
Finally, I wish I had both covers for this comic. The set was going for $50+ shipping on Ebay as of last night.

If you look at the 1602 Graphic Novel, 'ol steve is whisked away to the past just before death, and ends up dying (if I recall correctly). For any Marvel fans, I would unequivocally recommend the read, it is a phenomenally well penned (and inked) tale of an alternate past/present/future. And Cap'n America is my favorite, so <tinkle> on Marvel Publishing and their subsidiaries. They can go jump in a mutant infested lake. Wiki 1602: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_1602

Wiki 1602: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_1602I agree, it is a great read, by Neil Gaiman, who is a REAL best-selling author, not just some average comic scribe. I'd forgotten about Captain America being in it. And I agree with the above posts, Steve Rogers will come back. Sure, they'll fill his shoes with some guy for awhile, but eventually ol' Steve's body will polished up and reanimated.

Perhaps the US Agent will fill in for a little while again and bring back Steve...though it does grow wearying to kill of the lead so often

My bad, had no idea what the Agent was up to, just knew he was essentially a recoloured cap. Shame they offed Cap, is this supposed to be connected with the Marvel Civil War then?
