I was so excited to see that they were making ghost rider movie. Well my hopes were up that they would get somebody good for the role. I watched the trailer and saw Nicholas cage, NICHOLAS CAGE of all people how thought it was a good idea to hire Nicholas Cage to act ghost rider. I was wondering if any of you agree and who you think would be a good actor for the role.

Eh, just because he is in it does not necessarily mean the whole movie is going to be bad. I mean........ well yeah he is him, but he may surprise us all. And if he movie does turn out to be a flop, then read the comics, I hear they are great...

I, like my brother, am not liking the previews of Ghost Rider. Another point is how silly they make the characters look in the scenes shown during the commercials. Specifically, there's the "Do you smell something burning?" scene and the overweight goth scene. While the latter can get away by trying to bring a dose of humor to the movie, the "Burning" clip is so darned stupid. Ghost Rider is the freaking Spirit of Vengeance, he's not going to make some stupid face when someone mentions burning, especially when he's not in GR mode. Another one is the "So later tonight you're just going to [imitates flame noise]" part which isn't nearly as bad but is still annoying to see.
In conclusion, I think they tried to add a bit to much humor to the movie. Also, for a good actor, the guy from Punisher would be good. Unfortunately, he's already been used in a Marvel movie.

Nicolas Cage is a great actor, one of the best of our times. Yes, he does strange things like marrying Elvis' daughter, and names his son after superman's kryptonian name, hes a weirdo. But as an actor he always seems to deliver.
The list of movies he has been in is lengthy, and the styles and budget for these films varies drastically. I personally tend to prefer his lower budget appearances, I would much rather re-watch "lord of war" over "national treasure".. But I always like his presence in the film no matter what it is.
Anyway, if the movie does bomb, I certainly dont think its Nicolas Cage's fault. Its certainly not his fault if anyone thinks there are too many jokes cracked in the script.

I'm not saying that he is a bad actor. What I'm saying is that I think they could of picked someone better to be GR. Nicholas Cage doesn't really (In my mind) yell Ghost Rider. There are better people to play the role. Yet again Hollywood never made since to me.

I do agree with Malform that Nicholas Cage is one of the better actors of our time, and I think that he gives the movie credibility. Both with him and Sam Elliot. Is the movie going to be true to the comics. Probably not. Most are not. I still think that the movie looks awesome and the first time that I had seen the trailer last year it blew me away. I for one can't wait to see it. It may end up being a big let down, but I certainly am not going to make that determination before even seeing the movie.

Nicholas Cage isn't playing Ghost Rider, he's playing Johnny Storm. CGI animators are playing Ghost Rider And I'm not particularly interested in Johnny Storm, so it's not a huge deal to me who is playing him. Hopefully Ghost Rider gets plenty of air time - what I've seen of him in the previews looks outstanding.

I disagree with the point about Cage playing Johnny Blaze and not Ghost Rider because that's exactly the same as saying Tobey Maguire played Peter Parker and not Spider-Man.
As far as Cage being a good actor, my dislike comes from the fact that he just plain annoys me, mostly because of his facial expressions. He also just doesn't seem to fit the bill of "The man who turns into Ghost Rider". Tobey Maguire looks geeky so he's perfect as Peter Parker, Hugh Jackman appears rough around the edges so he's perfect as Wolverine. Nicholas Cage just doesn't scream Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider to me.

It's been a while since I've read Ghost Rider, and I was into the Dan Ketch version, not the Johnny Blaze version, but I was always under the impression that the human was just a host, and that Ghost Rider himself had his own personality that was separate from the human. So in that case it is much different than Tobey Maguire, because there's no alter-ego going on, and that actually is Tobey in the Spider-Man suit.
I think Cage is a good actor and I would agree that perhaps he's not the actor most suited for this role. But so far the only concerns I've seen with the previews had to do with the script, which Cage has nothing to do with. Either way, Ghost Rider himself looks awesome, and I'm very excited to see him in action.

Even assuming that they're separate characters (to tell the truth, I've never read an actual Ghost Rider comic book, only done research on the character via the internet and the Marvel dictionary my library has), Nicholas Cage is STILL acting as Ghost Rider. If they had a different voice and all that jazz, it'd be another story but according to the credits Cage is both Blaze and Rider. It's still the same core concept. Cage will be acting as Johnny Blaze and will provide the voice of Ghost Rider, therefore Cage = Ghost Rider holds up.
I completely agree with the point of script problems. I can deal with a single actor I dislike if a script is really, really good but even the script looks bad, at least based on the previews.

Well I for one won't really be paying attention to J.B.'s face. Hopefully he'll be on fire most of the movie. It's the Rider (And the cycle) we love, not Johnny (And the Harley-Davidson)
AHHHHH!!!! I just found out something!
According to producer Steven Paul, Cage had found out about Depp being a possibility for the role and contacted the director to express his own interest, being an avid Ghost Rider fan
Cast:
Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider Eva Mendes as Roxanne Simpson Wes Bentley as Blackheart Sam Elliott as Caretaker Peter Fonda as Mephisto Donal Logue as Mack Mathew Wilkinson as Abigor Joel Tobeck as Grissel Daniel Frederiksen as Wallow
Caretaker?

I don't know what the movie plot is ,but I'm with Yaggleberry Finn I think Ghost Rider is possessing Johnny in the comics isn't he. Ghost Rider is a demon but on the side of good somehow. Correct? Kind of like Spawn.
