Well, it's official, Marvel Battle Dice has rolled its last...word came down yesterday. I'm bummed...my friend Matt Forbeck was the game designer for that game, and I thought it had promise with DC on the horizon...but it appears it just didn't work out for the company (Playmates).

That is a bummer.. I never got into the game, but I had to fight the urge to buy them several times while hunting for attacktix.

I think Target has them on clearance...now might be the time to pick up Series 1 at least. It encompasses most of the main characters from the Marvel U.

All the Targets in my area cleared out of them with the August rush. I bought a starter set then, but I guess the mechanics of the game just weren't as appealing as they could have been. I thought it was an interesting premise, but it just didn't appeal to me as much as actually knocking other figures around. It was also not as intuitive as Attacktix, in which the special powers are written out on the base, as opposed to described in cryptic symbols to the novice that require some decoding. It seemed like a "minis-lite" game that may have been too complicated for the young'uns and not substantial enough for the hardcore gamer, with a bit too much complexity to keep the interest of this middling gamer. ETA: Here's the announcement.

I for one loved playing this with my kids. I was looking for something not as huge as the Attactix line and a little more portable. This did the trick well. I did pick up a few Attactix figures and it is a fun line as well.
But, I am trying to rally some support to get the makers to change their minds. If anyone would send a comment to toys@playmatestoys.com[/u][/color] to let them know what you think of the game and their decision maybe we can see it make a revival.

Yeah, it was too bad to hear... When I was doing contract work in Idaho over the summer, I bought quite a few of these. It was a fairly fun game.
