I doubt Venom will get the Green Goblin 1 treatment. If they do it right, he's not an inherently evil character, and treating him as such would blow. If they played their cards right, they could even give him his own movies branching off from his Spidey debut. Also, be thankful that if Venom is being done in CGI that it's taking place now when it's had time to become more advanced. Heck, Spidey himself was CGI in large part in the first films. I just hope they go for a more traditional Venom whose costume looks more like a costume than a bunch of flailing tendrils and gigantic mouth like some of the newer depictions. I know you can't please everyone, though...
The Spidey series has done more justice to the franchise in my opinion than a lot of other super hero movies, but they still haven't figured out one important lesson - you DON'T have to kill off villains who have been in comics for decades in one movie to please audiences (the Joker, Shredder, Doc Ock, the list goes on...) Not only do I find that that takes away from the comic enjoyment of most of these films, but it really limits their pool of villains to use in future films. I still enjoyed the X-Men movies, and they re-used most of the comic villains from one movie to the next.

lanemyer would you perfer it be stop motion, claymation or something else? I'm sure the boys at Sony will make him like as nice as they can, but I'm not sure what you mean with that comment, I mean a lot of Spidey in the other two are entirely CGI and were really quite successful all things considered. As far as VFX go I think Sandman will be tricker to pull off then Venom being a 3D Animator myself.

Has it been confirmed that Venom, as in "Eddie Brock + Symbiote", is an actual VILLAIN in this movie? I've seen the images of Eddie getting latched onto by the Symbiote but that doesn't tell me much. I'm wondering this simply because I find it very hard to believe that they'll fit Green Goblin II, Sandman, Symbiote On Spidey, and Venom all into a single movie. If they attempt this, I can't help but feel that the movie will be far to cramped.
I personally hope that the movie will focus on Parker trying to overcome the Symbiote, Goblin, and Sandman all at once and then have it end with the greatest cliff hanger ever, the creation of Venom.

I personally hope that the movie will focus on Parker trying to overcome the Symbiote, Goblin, and Sandman all at once and then have it end with the greatest cliff hanger ever, the creation of Venom. Sort of like the origins of Vader at the very end of ROTS? That is a lot of villains for one film. Gaah...does anyone remember "Batman and Robin" with it's glut of villains (and poor acting, I might add)? Of course you don't because that movie was cluttered and unmemorable, not to mention way too cheesy. I think Venom and one other villain would have done the trick. One villain to show Spidey taking them on with the suit, then Venom after he gives it up. Never mind the difficulty of introducing the symbiot without showing anything related to the "secret wars"...

I was thinking it would break down like grievous stated, that Venom would be a cliffhanger more than a major component of this film, not many Series get to three and have a clamoring for a 4th (can you say X-men), but the creation of Venom could do that now that they have had all these classic villians in GG, Doc Oct, GG2, and Sandman.

Yeah...Spidey having to battle Sandman, GGII, AND reject the symbiote AND ruin Eddies career all in one film? That's a lot of content. I think Venom as a cliffhanger would be the best way to do it...

Yup, Curious I knew the synopsis but in the comic anyway was it Pete's fault or did Eddie just blame him?
