I thought Megatron turned in to a tank, but in attacktix his vechicle form is a jet, and now the movie version of him...?

Actually Megatron from G1 was a gun, and the newest show Cybertron (and most before it) he was a triple changer from a car to a jet to a robot, or just a car to robot, or jet to robot.

No, not bad photoshop. It's actually from the movie. If you don't want to be spoiled don't read what I'm about to type... . . . . . . . . S P O I L E R . . S P A C E . . . . . . . . . Apparently the movie begins with archeologists finding a Transformer frozen in the ice. It's been there for thousands/millions of years and from the looks of the Megatron photos found today it is in fact Megatron. . . . . END OF SPOILER

My gosh what have they done to Megatron! While incredibly cool looking, Transformers fan are going to complain (and rightfully so) that Megatron looks nothing like he should. He still looks awesome, though.

I dont know... Megatron has been a gun, a tank, a giant mobile gun (as galvatron), a T-rex, a dragon (he was a dragon at the end of beast wars right?), a jet and a car.... I think theres room for another jet. Even that weird looking one.
*Its important to note, while all of these incarnations are named "megatron" they are not all the same character. I know, its weird. But the die hard transformer fans, I would think, should be use to it.*

Just like the Spiderman comic book is different than the Ultimate Spiderman comic book, which both are different from the Spiderman movies, which are all different from the various Spiderman cartoons. And I agree with you about this Megaton's jet mode. I'm fine with it being an alien plane I just wish it was more bad-ass! It looks like all the other TF's are getting earth modes in this flick. I guess Megatron is a Cybertronian snob.

But you see, much like Optimus Prime has almost always looked basically the same, so has Megatron. In both cases, bodies and the like changed but their basic head shapes and looks have always been the same. For example, I compared the Movie Megatron head to 5 other Transformers Megatron heads: I found a common theme in that all the non-movie Megatron heads had a sort of helmet encapsulating the sides of their faces. This is alluded to with "battle mode" Movie Megatron but it isn't as pronounced. Also, the non-movie Megatrons have the same basic slanted nose and their eyes are semi-large glowing slants. Movie Megatron's eyes are tiny pinpoints and he practically doesn't even have a nose. Good point, BUT it is refutable. While all the Spiderman universes are different, each Spiderman has the same basic look. Red and blue costume with a black spider on the front, large white eyes, etc. It's the same way with Megatron, as I point out above.

I wasn't talking about the look of each character in each universe just the fact that they each exist in some form of parallel universe. I agree with you in the fact that this Megatron is a huge departure from his traditional look.

Movie Megatron's eyes are tiny pinpoints and he practically doesn't even have a nose. I may be being picky here... I agree with your statement, but only partly. Yes, megatron has maintained a sort of recognizable head shape through the years. If you are not familiar with a toy line or cartoon, you most likely will be able to point out megatron just by the face and shape of his head. And yes, certainly this movie adaptation is a far step aways from anything the cartoons and toy lines have done with megatron. But I cant stop thinking about how optimus... Although he has changed over the years, hes remained very recognizable. Every toy or cartoon version of him that I have seen (with the one exception of the "Alternators" optimus prime that transforms into a pickup truck) are recognizable not only by the face and head shape, but by the colors, the shape of the legs, chest, arms, and hes always carrying a very similar looking gun. And in beast wars and beast machines, the autobot/maximals leader had a VERY optimus prime looking head, but a COMPLETELY different body structure. So they rename him optimus primal. So in my mind they are still following the same criteria that has been set up sense the beginning. Megatron gets overhauled in practically any way the visionaries behind the project want, and can get away with. The design of optimus (for whatever reason) must meet up with certain check points.

I've been on the various TF boards, and some people are going nutty over these pics.
Anyone remember back when they were making the first X-Men movie, and everybody freaked because the costumes were different? They saw these goofy test shots that didn't do the outfits justice, and they were ready to revolt.
Same thing here. No one has seen any of these in action, what they will really look like in the movie, and they are passing judgement left and right.
Hey, what I've seen looks cool, but you know what? It'll look a lot different in the movie. Maybe better, hopefully better still, but different.

To be fair, on the Transformers message board I frequent, there has been good reaction to the movie designs as well as bad. Also the movie designs are a completely different asthetic from anything we've seen before, where the vehicle bits are mostly unrecognizable in robot mode, and the very monster-like alien faces for the Decepticons. So I understand those who dislike them. I'm not even close to a die-hard G1 fan, and I'm still getting used to the movie designs. As for Megatron: In G1, he was a handgun In G2, he was a tank In Beast Wars, he was a T-rex, then a dragon In RID, he was a six-changer (but he wasn't desinged as a Megatron, in Japan he was Gigatron. Hasbro slapped on the name Megatron when the toys/show was imported from Japan.) In Armada, he was a tank In Energon, he was a jet In Cybertron, he's a "batmobile-esque" vehicle that can convert into a jet. And remember that is 4 completely different characters named Megatron (G1/G2, Beast Wars, RID, and Armada/Energon/Cybertron), and only G1/G2 and Beast Wars Megatrons exist in the same continuity and that is over 300 years apart. And now we can add movie Megatron to that list.

He looks awful. Though I'm not a big fan of many of the movie bots so far. Sure they're neat looking mech/robot things, but they look nothing like Transformers.
