A buddy of mine just got a Hulk and his spring action is sad at best. He can't get the barrel to even fly out of his hand let alone knock anybody over. Is this what everyone else is getting or did my friend just pull a bad one. I thought people who had a hulk said it was better than cherpa?

My Hulk is absolutely great. Actually, he's a bit to great. Rather than having the problem of "not throwing far enough" he has the "I fling barrels over people's heads" problem. Nothing a bit of work can't fix.
A friend of mine, however, has gotten one that had a very weak spring, so I don't think your bud's problem is a one-off.

I don't own the Hulk, but his barrel intrigued me (being a huge Chirpa fan and all). Does it have the potential to roll once it hits the ground due to it's shape? It looks like it should, which Chirpa's rock doesn't due really due to it's odd shape. Is there an actual name for the Chirpa/Hulk school of 'tix figure? Like tosser or something? I mean, if you described them as launchers, that sort of gives the impression they're like the figures with guns, which they're not...

I was able to get my Hulk to throw his barrel about fourteen feet (I have a video of it going twelve feet that can be seen here). Unfortunately, it loses most of its momentum when it does so and it doesn't really knock figures over but just pushes them out of the way instead.

My Hulk is as good/bad as Chirpa I thought he was going to be much better but after using him some I found that he is about the same.

My Hulks arms work just fine but when you put the barrel on and pull his arms back they hang. I think the barrel puts his arms in a bind. Anyone got a solution?

I just recently started playing with the MV figures, and just the other day I introduced another one of my friends to Attacktix. I hooked him up with some figures to get him started, and one of those figures was S1 Hulk. It took some time for him to get used to Hulk's attack, but he got better at it with each passing turn (and it also helped that Hulk is such a sturdy figure!). Towards the end of our first game, we were both left with one figure. He had Hulk, I had S1 Megatron (robot mode). We were kind of at a stale-mate, and suddenly on one of his turns, he pulled Hulk's arms back and nothing happened. He tried again and again, but still nothing happened. I suggested pulling the arms back further, but when he did that, the inner mechanism *snapped*, and suddenly the spring's power was completely gone. I tried rotating his arms in every direction to see if they would catch the spring again. A couple of times it did catch, but as soon as you tried to attack with him again, it would *snap* once more, and be as useless as before. This was frustrating. I've never seen this happen before. I pulled out another Hulk I had sitting around and gave it to him, but soon this Hulk was afflicted by the same ailment. Then it was time for some surgery. I took a knife and pried at the seam on Hulk's shoulders, and I was eventually able to crack him open. On the axle that Hulk's arms ride on, there's a space for the spring to sit, and a small hole for the spring's end to slide into, so it remains stationary. What had happened was, the hole had been ripped opened, and the spring was sliding around inside freely, hence the lack of power. Using a heated paper clip, I was able to melt a new hole for the spring to rest in, and then I re-assembled Hulk with some super glue and wrapped him up in a cozy rubber-band. Afterward, Hulk worked pretty well, though he lacked the power from before his "accident". This was my first operation on an Attacktix figure's insides, but I'd say that it went okay. He doesn't look pretty now, but atleast he's working again. I'll probably have to do the same thing for that other Hulk too. I thought that he would be like the other non-traditional figures, like upper-cutting Venom or Thor, that have the various positions that you can pose the arms for attacking, but apparently he is different. Maybe that's what broke him in the first place. Has anyone else had this problem with Hulk? Any advice?

Wow, that sux! I've practiced quite extensively with the barrel-tossing Hulk and have not experienced any of the difficulties mentioned above. My advice is don't press down on Hulk too hard. He's best used when you lightly pull back on his barrel, and work him back and forth until you "feel" the tension and then release. Using this "feathering" method won't destroy his launching mechanism. As far as getting a weak Hulk out of the booster, I can't say much because I've only pulled one Hulk. And the one I pulled works great - he's one of my favorite Marvel figures and can be quite devastating if you use him properly. I, too, have a tendency to launch his barrel clear over my intended target's head, and sometimes completely off the table! I love him and look forward to more tosser figures.

I have three hulks and two of them work great but the third one has a problem hanging when I let go of the barrel. I had assumed until now that if I applied some WD40 it would fix him but perhaps not. You might try just in case before you crack him open.

My Hulk has the common "multiple positions." It's possible there was some sort of running change in his design... Anyway, my Hulk was a pain in the butt at first. if I started with the barrel in front of him, it simply didn't get the momentum to leave his hands. If I moved it up a notch, his arms would hang. Using the WD-40 trick I found in the repair FAQs, I was able to loosen him up. He now seems to work pretty well, but I need some practice to be able to use him with any real effect. So... I suppose the first thing to do is find out if it has positions. Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to risk breaking him. If you can get his hands higher and the arms start to hang, try the WD-40 trick. If all that seems to fix him, start practicing!

if u first try it either slams in front of hulk himself or barely move. u can reposition the arm to fix that. thats waht i did. the other problem now is it goes over. so i keep him near the back so it will hit hopefully.

Personally, I like how Hulk slams his barrel straight down into the ground before it flies off in a undetermined direction before rolling off the table. We mostly use him for intimidation. Seriously, though, Hulk does make a pretty good striker if you get right next to another fig then SLAM the barrel down on top of their head - works pretty well.
