I'm not sure why there isn't a fourth option, which is the way it's written to be played - that the figure is brought into play from back-ups and is placed on the starting line, exactly the same way recruit is played. So here we're not trying to clarify the rules Hasbro has made, we're trying to improve upon them? The other two polls seemed to be clarification points. This one seems to be going against what the power already says. I'm not against Transforming on the spot (it does make sense thematically as has been discussed more than enough) but are we going to list this as a clear rule variation, because I don't see much dispute on what it originally meant. And sorry if I already missed some of this conversation, I was just following Phoenix's announcement and getting over here to vote

Hrm...when I voted for the first option, I thought I was voting for the new figure to be placed on the starting line, where a standard Recruit puts 'em. Given the way things have been reworded, I go with Yaggleberry Finn and vote "none of the above".
Really, it's not good to reword the options in the middle of polling, as you might dramatically change the intended outcome. That's why poll options (in the poll itself) are not editable.

Ditt of the o variety aimed at Joe and YodaB. I voted for option 1 only to have it evolve into something I wouldn't vote for knowingly.
Oh well, rule changes are now on my anti-post list so... see ya!

Not sure if this has been addressed in another thread - but has consideration been given to who can be brought into play due to Transform? Meaning, would you be allowed to use the robot mode or vehicle mode that isn't a match?
So for example, I have G1 Megatron (I wish) from S2. My S1 Megatron vehicle is defeated and comes up white... can I put G1 Megatron in? What about the S2 megas that are called "Megatron"?
The S2 Starscream is obviously the G1 figure, but his robot mode is not G1... can that robot mode come into play?
Can "energon" SOP be brought into play from the S1 SOP vehicle?
I would say "yes" to all of the above, but logically there are times when it doesn't make sense because the figure that comes into play via transform isn't always the exact same as the one that was just defeated.
Following this argument, it makes the viewpoint that "transformed doesn't mean defeated" illogical I think as well since you have figures transforming into other generations of themselves.
Just was pondering this and wondered what others thought...

Well, I'm of the opinion that if the nameplate says "Megatron", it doesn't matter if it's G1, Gwhatever or something that was never in the Transformers line that they just made up for Attacktix..if the nameplate is the exact same as the name on the bottom, it should work.
I was outvoted on that one in a recent vote, which is that there are special circumstances that MAY (hasn't been voted on or argued) change certain figures interpretation of SPs. I agree that transform = defeated as it is clearly stated on the underside that you need to Bring Back-Up. If it was meant to swap, it would say SWAP, like Mystique. I do, however, think that a figure should be placed at the stop site of the defeated figure, unlike Recruit. Just seems fair, and it was omitted at the end of the sentence. ;D

The only issue that I might have with the above issue is that the new S2 Optimus Prime is not "SUPER Optimus Prime", but instead "Optimus Prime"
I like the starting line addition.
So, figure is defeated, if white, goes to back-ups, regardless of series the named backup comes into play at starting line.

I like 2 the best because if it where white a lot your team might last much longer

My vote is for #1 because that is the way we always played it in my house. I also believe that is they way it was meant to be played. Just my 2 cents
