I would leave room or make a spot for a list of known variants...I'm thinking of two in particular...Electro (packaged with both "electric" yellow and red missiles) and IG-88 (with, without bounty hunter logo).
Also...supposedly the first biker scout/scout trooper might have had a misprint on some printings.
HOWEVER...by variant...I don't mean like "this one time, I got a clone trooper, and it's was on it's base backwards" I have seen a handful of odd misprints...but I'm thinking more in line with complete runs that have differences in them. For example, there are probably as many misprinted IG-88's as there are correctly printed ones...making that a variant in my book...would anyone agree with that.
And...d'uh..."chrome" base variants...I think it would be important to note those that have them.

Heh...true. I remember there had been a couple of threads about this, but SW S3 seemed to be particularly rife with variants.

Being that not all figures have variants, this section could be stashed away at the bottom of the page for those figures that do have them. That way, the character pages remain fairly uniform.

I think a section at the bottom of each, kind of like a Trivia section, would work fine for known PRINT RUN variants, as opposed to error figures. (No paint on left arm, etc)

(No paint on left arm, etc) Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Not errors on figures, actual full runs that were different than others, as IG-88. Errors on figures could get redundant, since people might label "slightly off-center paint jobs" and other minuscule details as errors. In that case, there would be millions!

Gold34 is in my opinion the most informed on the variants. There are 2 S3 Greedos, one orange, and one yellow vest. There are 2 Hammerheads, one green shirt, one tan. There are 2 S3 Luke Strikers, one with tanner clothes (if I remember right) and one with whiter clothes. There are 2 C3P0s of course, one with brown intestinal wires, and one with colored wires.
Let's not forget the Sai issue with Elektra as well, and perhaps a NEW variant that YB pointed out - the Ace Of Diamonds on Gambit's Force Blast is black, not red....perhaps that's the way it was intended as he is a cheat ;D

I have two ARC Pilots from S2, one has his face (the part that is visible at the bottom of the helmet) painted white, the other a peach-fleshy folor.

Does it really exist?

I have yet to see a picture of the elusive silver sai Elektra. Does it really exist? Yes it's true! - I have one Elektra that has silver blades and the other Elektras have blades that are gold.

Below are the Elektras... And here are the ARC pilots - focus on the bottom half of their face (sorry it's a bit blurry - but that's the best I could do with the focus) - look at the spot right below the yellow visor on their helmet and you can see the difference (one has a white face, the other peach colored).
