I think having two dominant symbols for the TFs helps mitigate the fundamental "launcher-heavy" weakness of the line: special powers that depend on a particular universe faction will be applicable to an ever-larger array of figures. Personally, I'd prefer to see fewer factions in SW (with the Jawas, Tuskens, and Lando combined into a higher-order "Fringer" faction) so as to make their special powers more potent.

Then I'm part of that same minority, because I LOVE Battle Ravage! ;D Most people who aren't skilled with that figure would call him useless, but he's definitely a force to be reckoned with when in the right hands. He was actually part of my main TixCon team, and I didn't do too awful bad..... Besides getting creamed by Annointed1 and his squad of Optimus'. I remember someone else decimating you.....hmmm... Huh? In the TF universe double elimination, the now infamous Xavier handed me my first lost, which was close, and probably wouldn't have happened if I'd been more vocal about my displeasure of his sportsmanship. Annointed1 is the one that took me out of the tournament. I had no problem losing to him, he deserved the win.

Personally, I'd prefer to see fewer factions in SW (with the Jawas, Tuskens, and Lando combined into a higher-order "Fringer" faction) so as to make their special powers more potent. Well, one would hope that as the line expands, the launcher-heavy early offerings would get balanced out. Keyword: hope. I can see the call for less factions in SW; personally I've been scratching my head over why the Ewoks need their own. They aren't likely to see many more characters, they are very unlikely to see any launcher support, and in ROTJ they more or less joined the Rebellion the moment they became aware there was a side that wouldn't shoot them on sight. Gamewise, most players will likely field them with "Endor" versions of various characters, and if someone wanted to field an all-Ewok squad and couldn't figure out which ones are the Ewoks, the game is probably too complicated for them anyway... Regardless, my main qualm was that I think that a "generational" marking should be evident somehow as the line progresses, and it evolved into a division among the faction mostly because there simply isn't any way that the TF line can ever have as many factions as the other brands. Reducing the number of factions across the board would do the same job, and probably make more sense of things in the long run.

I played Xavier6 right out of the box (first match), and I did kinda think maybe he moved Scorponok up just a bit when he attacked and was thinking he was lucky when all his figures were white upon defeat - and then as the day wore on I wished I had said something when I had the chance!

I thought I'd caught up on most of the "history" around here, but Xavier is something unfamiliar to me. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that he was a big cheater?
Even in friendly play, my buddies and I show the bottoms to each other when they're white. It just seems like the courteous thing to do. Frankly, I would have assumed it to be standard tourney practice as well... or maybe it is NOW, eh?

Let's just say that he spoiled the day for my wife with his cheating - though I think hers was the first match in which his illegal ways were called out by observers - my wife didn't know enough about the rules to be able to call 'em on her own. His dad was very nice, though, and tried to encourage at least basic sportsmanship from his son (e.g., encouraged Xavier to congratulate my wife on a closely played game when she did that for him). The sad thing is, we'd basically talked about always having your opponent regrind a defeated figure to ensure that it came up white fairly. Let's put it this way: the kid was either incredibly lucky, was doing some hardcore Tix mapping, or had altered the bases of certain figures to make 'em come up white far more often than the base probability.

My problem wasn't with his SP percentages, it was with his super chuckin' Scorponok. He'd scoop your figure, "wind up" by taking a tix backwards, then toss it like a bowling ball at your other figures while making 4 or 5 tix forward. All in the blink of an eye, of course, but no matter how fast your hand is, you can't hide that "tix" sound. Oh, and he liked to reposition his figures after attacking, to make them less vulnerable.

Let him play me in one game and pull that sh*t and I guarantee you guys he won't do it again. GRRRRRRRRR! Sorry, we don't play that way around here and I'll be darned to drive 4 hrs just to let someone screw me outta the competition. This is neutral ground to me, so I plan to be vocal on things if they seem fishy. Showing whites should be manditory during tournament. My wife and I don't show eachother, but I really don't care if I win every match with her.

Oh, and he liked to reposition his figures after attacking, to make them less vulnerable. Hold up... it's bad form to move limbs after attacking? Or are you talking about turning bases? My friends and I rotate launchers, striking arms, and other assorted features after attacking all the time, mostly just to get them out of the way. In some cases (Boba Fett), it actually makes the figure a better target. Is this the sort of behavior that's frowned upon?

Not even to put it's arm down. A figure still in an attack pose is much more vulnerable than a figure that's been re-adjusted. If you reposition a figure, it is sturdier (in most cases... Stormtroopers suck either way! ;D) than it would be if you hadn't.

I can see that... but sometimes having to go around another figure's arm is the difference between having the perfect number of 'tix and juuuust barely not being able to make it. There's pros and cons to either mode, I think. Honestly, I can't say that I've seen a rule one way or another, either... I'm not questioning it, just wondering if there's a bunch of them I missed somewhere. If I messed up on that, lord knows there's probably a few other things I'm doing wrong!

In the Quick Start guide Battle FAQs section, one question reads: Can I turn a figure in a different direction to get a better aim?-Yes, as long as you do it before you fire. Once you've fired, the figure can't be moved. Now, in most cases "move" and "tix" are synonymous, but in this case, the person is specifically asking to reposition a figure, so the word "move" in the answer is obviously not referring to tixing, it's referring to post-attack re-adjusting. *Thanks to Yodabreaker for reminding me where to find this info.!*
