So, the G1 Grimlock figure.... he wasn't on Malform's striker list. So, what is he? I only saw the small pic they have of him on the main 'tix site, but it doesn't look like he's a shooter. What is it he does, other than stand there all awesome?

There's lots of theories about ol' Grimmie. If you look closely at the image (which can be seen here) there is what appears to be a small button residing just above the rock on his base. The general agreement is that that activates whatever his attack function is by depressing against the rock when Grimlock is pressed down. There are two primary theories on the actual attack. First if that his mouth is hinged and when he drops down he "bites" an opponent's figure before lifting up and dropping them from whatever height. The downside to this theory is whether or not that would actually be effective in defeating a figure. The second theory is that he's just a fancy prodder that activates when is pressed down. The downsides to this theory is why go through the length to make it all fancy if he just prods, how dumb would it would look to have a T-Rex with a giant neck at any point in the game (even if it is just for an attack), and whether or not the prodder would activate before the head was actually in range. Basically, the two primary theories are six of one and half dozen of the other. Both have problems but neither are written off by the sculpt. We'll pretty much just have to wait until either we get fancy previews like we did for the last three sets or until they're released.

The only reason I hadnt included him in a list with strikers is because I am assuming that he is a prodder.

It's clear as day from where the welds are. I'd bet my last buck that this is a prodder, whose head pops forward.

I still think, until I see a pic from behind, he might whip his tail when he is pressed on the head.

The whole idea of him being a prodder is dumb. Prodders are typically the weaker of an attacks.
I want him to be a biter. Yeah, maybe he won't be that effective as a biter, but it has to be better than a prodder. And theres that wonderful feeling I get when I think about attacking with him and saying "Me Grimlock, me bite!"

Tail whip would rock. Too bad he doesn't kick. Like in the movie, "Me, Grimlock, kick butt". Ah, we laugh and laugh.

I looked closer at the image, and I think it's different that we are all expecting. As I am looking, I see articulating arms, a prod head (based on the welds and spacing), but MOST importantly, I see a switch that sits where his "Boy Parts" are...and no I wasn't looking SPECIFICALLY at his "Boy Parts". I now theorize that the method of attack is that you press down on the back of the figure, pivoting him downward, and he prods out while flat, parallel to the table. His arms probably flail or rotate during the action as well. Look: As you can see, he comes 'equipped', and when he bends down (as you can see, he's hinged at the hips) his 'equipment' hits the rock (OUCH ) and I am thinking that his head pops forward, his arms flail mercilessly, and MAYBE the tail wiggles too, but that's just conjecture.

Oh, now I'm getting greedy. I want ALL the dinobots in dino mode for future figures. If they look half as sweet as Grimmy, it'll be awesome. Oooo, a Sludge mega.... drool.

I dunno, the toy or cartoon never reflected this, but his bio talks about how big he is. Besides, a real Apatasaurus is bigger than a Tyranno. I think.

Actually we've been speculating about the button (boy part) since the pics were released I think I have Grimlock figured out. He's a BITER!! Look at the button on his 'stomach' it's right above that 'rock' in front of him. I think if you tip him forward, rotating at the hips, that button will be compressed by the 'rock' causing his mouth to close. Perhaps you then stand him back up and release/drop the opposing figure or give the base a twist and throw the figure. It looks like Hasbro liked my Rancor ideas I'm steering away from my 'biter' theory (it was more like a wish anyway) and thinkin' prodder. But where I disagree with you in in your idea about '"pushing down on the back of the figure" If anything you would have to lift the back of the figure or push down on the front of the figure. And flailing arms and tails might be wishful thinking. Other figs have articulated arms/heads/etc. that don't do anything. Plus Hasbro seems to follow the K.I.S.S. design method with these figures (Keep It Simple Stupid). Having the arms, etc. move would be a trick of engineering I think they would steer clear of.
