This idea for this poll was greyelephant's and I give him the credit for the thought to make this thread.
With Transformers Series 2 having a stunning ten repaints in the boosters (over half) and two repaints in the starter set (pretty sure), there could be some major fan backlash with the upcoming set.
Personally, unless some of the re-releases turn out to have effects or good powers, I'm going to probably end up just getting the figures I want off Ebay and I'll probably get some boosters as well since I'll hopefully have a job by then.
My worries about TF2 is that, since the Transformers community seems to have rejected the Attacktix line as a whole (not everyone as this board's TF members show) and Attacktix fans will most likely not enjoy the massive amount of repaints, this set will not sell well. If TF2 crashes, what does that mean about the possibility of a TF3? Even further, could the crash of Transformers Attacktix send a shockwave through the Attacktix line that could cause cancellation or pull backs?
I don't want to sound apocalyptic but this could happen. TF already sits on the pegs and that set actually has new sculpts and new ideas (scorponok, ransack). If TF collectors don't buy and Attacktix players don't buy then TF2 will clog up the pegs even more. I really want TF to survive at least until they get Beast Wars or G1 figures out since those would be awesome and would probably sell well.
So, I have to make up my mind between not buying and showing Hasbro my disinterest in repaints by not giving my money or buying in an attempt to avert a catastrophe.
What do you guys think and will you buy Transformers Series 2 or not?

I voted "Yes, although I am disappointed with the set". I like transformers, and I want to see the line continue on. So I will be buying them just for that reason... And because whirl looks freakin awesome. But, the chances of my buying TF3 is pretty slim if it shows the same lack of creativity.... I say that, but Ill probably still buy them... And complain about them.

I say no, but that's because I've never been that interested in this line. The first of these I got was Team Hasbro's TF set, and I only bought booster packs because of webhead's tournament. Whirl and Strongarm are likely the only ones that I'd want initially, though Galvatron and Dark Scorponok could be interesting, too. I'll also probably trade for some S2 Minicons, as they might play nicer with the striker Decepticons I've got right now.

I went with Maybe. I think that I will get a few of them, but not all. I really don't need more Decipticlones or any of the "army builders". I might get 1 or 2 of them and just forget the rest (army builders that is). As for the SR's I might get D. Scorponok, Whirl, G1 Megatron, and a few others. I don't want all of them though. However I might change my mind once the time comes to actually purchase or not.
If this continues to S3, I know for a fact I will not buy any more TF's.

I am slightly dissappointed due to all the repaints, but I love the G1 figures like Prowl and Soundwave, and then the starter set having the original Optimus and Megatron as well - so I'll definitely be getting them. But, I may end up not "having to have them all" because of all the repaints... unless they have a good special power or something. I actually think I say that about every Attacktix line that comes out, and I end up getting them all anyway.

I voted "Yes, I'm a huge TF fan and have to have them".
I collected the original G1 Transformers and about 5 years ago I sold them to a collector (I kept my Optimus Prime and Soundwave, though). While I got good money for them, I've always felt like I shouldn't have sold them. Especially with the G1 Classics in Series Two, I will be collecting it.

That's why when I recently sold a bunch of my Star Wars collection that I kept the things that I knew I would regret. I just boxed them up and put them in a closet out of the way. This way if I still want to sell them I can, but if I don't want to atleast they are out of the way.

I think that theres is just enough iconic characters in the set to redeem itself to be great

As dissapointed with the set as I am. The few new sculpts they have is enough to make me want to buy them. Though I still wish grimlocks robot form was in the line.

I voted yes, because that Soundwave figure is one of my major wants. ;D
And about weak because of repaints, I would suggest you lay off it. It may be mostly repaints because Hasbro is possibly either trying to save money so they can focus on marketing the toys for the upcoming movie or just to reflect what they do to molds late in the series.

Again. may I cite the fact I've mentioned buying Barbie Attacktix if they ever came out?
I really could care less about the repaints for TF (though I wish Ransack was among them as I have yet to get one) and will buy it for being a huge Attacktixphile, granted if hell freezes over and all three come out at once I'll have to limit myself to:
Trip One: 2 SW 1 Marvel 1 TF
Trip Two 2 Marvels: 1 SW 1 TF
Rinse and repeat
Just like last time I'll keep buying TF until I get the figures I want (this time it's Checkpoint, Starscream, Grimlock, Prowl, and Whirl) then buy it sporotically until I'm done (but focus more on SW and Marvel).

"Yes, I'm a huge TF fan and have to have them" I think that theres is just enough iconic characters in the set to redeem itself to be great I agree. Regardless of what/how many repaints there are, I'll get the whole set and build an army as large as my TF-S1 army! Plus, I've been collecting Transformers for a long time, so I've learned to expect repaints. I'm sure I'm not alone with that sentiment.
