Overheard on tfw2005We've received word that Hasbro has started pulling Transformers Attacktix products off the shelves of Target stores and WalMart stores. They are being returned to vendor. This is, apparently, to make room for movie line product. When we have more on this breaking news we'll let you know. But if you're a fan of Attacktix, we recommend you get out to the stores and purchase what you still need. As soon as possible. Stay tuned. -END- Anyone have any inside news about this???

Man, that would seriously be a big blow for Transformers Attacktix. They have Series 2 planned and it looks like it'll be delayed.

God, I hope not. Like spikeriley said, it'll be a serious, if not killing blow for series two to be delayed since it has a lot of ones people have been waiting for (Bumblebee, Grimlock, etc.) and it's gotten hard enough to find TF Attacktixs as it is...

I doubt this will kill Transformers Series 2 because I think I remember hearing that there will be a "tournament set" for the movie like they're doing with Spider-Man 3. I kind of have a feeling that TF2 will be considered as part of the movie promotion toys and they're clearing the shelves for those as well. That's just a feeling though.

Note that is ONLY Series 1 getting returned... Not that ANY of this is confirmed, but Series 1 is the only thing getting pulled.
Series 2 hasn't been canceled as far as they say.

What surprises me about this announcement is the glee it seems to be met with on that TF site. My guesstimate would indicate that for every post that's bemoaning the pulling of TF Attacktix, there's another post that's neutral about it and about three posts that are happy about it. I wonder if this sentiment reflects that of the overall TF community. If that's the case, I can see why they never tried a TF collectible figure game before.

If it is, then that means I'm one of the minority. I got into Attacktix in the first place because of the TF ones, then branched out into the other series when I found that I enjoyed collecting, playing and even customizing Attacktix in and of themselves.
I think part of what it might be is the old stigma about non-transforming Transformers that stretches all the way back to the eighties. A lot of people think that any toy Transformers related HAS to transform and probably dislike Attacktix TFs since they don't. Personally, I think they're missing out on something by thinking of them like that, but hey, it's their choice/loss, you know?

I wonder if this sentiment reflects that of the overall TF community. like most fan communities, Transfans are never happy. I'd have to say a majority don't like the attacktix figures because they don't have anyone to play it with, and because the already mentioned "lack of transforming". It's actionmasters all over again to a lot of the fans.

Also the newest pics from the Tranformer, Marvel, and Star Wars series have a low count of figures, so they could still possibly be keeping Tf Movie Tix unrevealed until the movie starts.

Just an update on this: when I visited my local Target this evening, there were no Transformers boosters on the pegs, but there were 4 TF starter sets on the shelf.

Local K-Mart had four TF Boosters and five Starters, regular priced (and a series one SW Booster in the clearance aisle, but that's neither here nor there....).
I'll probably be checking some of the local Targets, TRUs and KBs tomorrow, so I'll report back on that...

TF boosters are still all over the place now. Infact, they are about the only ones around here. For every 8 TFs you might see 1 Marvel, and absolutely NO SW-S4.
