Oh, about Whirl. He first appeared as Thunderclash in Europe, during the year there was no TF line in the US. Then he was recolored (and his gimmicks neutered for safety reasons) as Sandstorm in the Machine Wars line in 1995. He got recolored again as Whirl for the Universe line a couple years ago. That's three uses of the mold as a toy, not as an Attacktix. ---Dave I hate to be a nit picker and I didn't read if anyone else corrected this, but The original release of Universe Whirl was Called "Storm" or "Rotor Storm". Thunderclash was the Original release of Machine Wars Optimus Prime.

The S2 starters are out at Toy Fair. G1 Prime, G1 Megatron, a recolor of Starscream as Cybertron Skywarp, and a fourth figure who's not really visible in the pics I've seen.
Edit: I'm told the fourth is Landquake, the white recolor of Landmine.

Im looking forward to whirl the most. I really like the flying figures (G.G. more than boba), so getting one that fires 2 missiles seems like a real treat.
Im keeping my fingers crossed that strongarm is a striker with better than average power, as the transformers desperately need a good striker. But at 30 points hes not going to help that much no matter how good he is.

Star Wars S2 Starter Obi-Wan is a good striker for 30 points on it's own merits, but when you look at a 69% "Get back up if a trooper is in play" special power, he becomes a one-man lethal overdose of adrenaline fueled skullbusting. ;D The TF (and for that matter Marvel) lines really need one or two really good strikers capable of crowd-clearing kills to be a potential adversary for tourney play, don't you agree?

[quote author=malform board=trans thread=The TF (and for that matter Marvel) lines really need one or two really good strikers capable of crowd-clearing kills to be a potential adversary for tourney play, don't you agree? I agree, although Scorponok is available (he's got serious crowd-clearing skillz) but he's a bit pricey at 30 points, and can't recover. Maybe the Dark Scorponok will be able to recover or at least Sacrifice. That's the best striker the TF and Marvel lines have to offer right now (excepting Omega Supreme).

Well.. I was thinking of a striker that is all around good enough to start a competitive curve in the positive for the whole line... Just a start.
So even IF strongarm turns out to be a very powerful striker, I dont think it would really tend to help the whole line that much, because hes 30 points... What transformers is in pretty desperate need of at this time, is a 10 point striker with just above average power. The best thing would be 2 above average 10 point strikers, one for each faction... That would certainly start transformers moving in a better direction.
