My reactions:
Starscream, Bumblebee, Prowl, Soundwave, Grimlock, Decepticon Minicon: "WHOA! YES!"
Thrust: "What's with all these repaints? And this one is a repaint of a figure I never use!"
Super Optimus Prime: "Worst paint job ever! Did he get painted at one of those airbrush kiosks at the dirt mall?"
Dark Crumplezone: "Because we needed ANOTHER of the worst TF figure ever."

So anyone have any idea whats happening with the G1 Optimus and Megatron? I havent followed Attacktix enough to be familiar but whats the chances that a new starter set will be released, and even more slim, with those two figures plus others?

Well, there are 24 figures in Series 1, and they only show 18 for Series 2 so far. I'm hoping there are going to be more, because there were too many repaints!

Wow, that is a lot of repaints. Why just one Dinobot? I noticed something odd in the starter set instruction book - isn't Strongarm or whatever that guy with the axe's name is featured in the starter book for series 1 where it shows how to use a striker? I don't collect the TF series as much as SW, but I think they could have used a LOT more variety in this second series...

Yes, that is he.
Well, my first impression is one of "Whopp Ti Do". Then, I got down to Grimlock and cracked a smile. I love Dinobots and would really like to see more in the Starter Set. As for orange Optimus, well, you can keep him. 50 points, he better crack one heck of a punch to stay in my team. We might also see the G1 figures in the Starter Set as well. How cool would it be to see a (what was it called when all of the Dinobots joined together?) Mega.

With the Marvel Starter Set featuring Spidey and Goblin, they almost HAVE to have the big shots in the new TF Starter... I mean I love Dirtboss... but I don't think that hooked kids as much. Granted Megs and Prime were in the IG Pack, so kids did get to see them. Fingers crossed!

That Whirl also looks awesome. As for Thrust, he looks cool. The main reason why I don't use Skyblast is that he's an Autobot (My strategies often involve Starscream.), so having Thrust as a 'con... well, I might use him, depending on the effectiveness of the other 'cons and the number of points in play. Super OP looks like he was rolling in the mud from those dirty SW series 4 Stormtroopers. Dark Crumplezone might be an improvement as kitbashing fodder.

Yeah, it is cool to have more Decepticons, because my teams often involve Battle Ravage, and I'm weird about putting Autobots and Decepticons on the same team!

The Dinobots never actually joined together to form one huge robot...but there were other teams that did (see my new post for my ideas). I'm really excited about the next series and the mix of G1 TFs. I'm only hoping that the Optimus Prime will be painted differently when it is released.

|sf>Upon further review of the figures, I noticed some interesting things. First of all, Arcee, Grimlock, and Galvatron have the Leader class, not Optimus. This is important, given what we know about Strongarm's abilities ("Stand up if there's a Leader in play," right?). It's also interesting to see that Strongarm is now 30 points.
Secondly, OP's special is "Recruit" with Dark Scorponok having "Vanquish," which is the opposite of series one's Vector Prime "Vanquish" and Scorponok's "Recruit." I bet OP and DS will affect the same type of figure (It'll probably be either Decepticlone or Onmicon, given that the last set already used Minicons and Insecticons as recruit figures.).
Third, both Soundwave and Prowl have stun. It'll be interesting to see how that works (ie. whether it will work on a factional level or a class level).
Lastly, Grimlock's special lists "Vengence." Isn't that the same name of the special that the old Star Wars Yoda Attacktix has? Yet he's 20 points with a speed of 10?!? Interesting.

Yes and no. I am positive they are somehow referring to the same thing that paint job represents. It is known as "Fire Guts Ginrai." That repaint was made relatively recently, based on the appearance he had momentarily in a bit of Transformers Chojin Masterforce. It may seem odd, but the character you linked to isn't Optimus Prime at all. It is kind of an odd explanation as to why he looks so similar (other than the fact that they modified an Optimus toy to make it), but the short story is that it was a new body intended for Optimus that ended up with a human named Ginrai (and later seperated from the human). I was actually kind of annoyed when I watched Masterforce, because while they do answer the question, it is one of those situations where it leads to a much larger question. Then to make things confusing, there was a PVC toy based on Fire Guts Ginrai released in the US. It actually was called "Apex" Prime. So I wouldn't be surprised to find the word "Apex" used somewhere on the attacktix. I know this thing looks odd, but I am strangely more excited for this than I would be the more obvious Cybertron "Galaxy Force Optimus Prime" (dark colors) repaint. Imo, it shows more effort. As for the rest of this bunch, I am still a little shocked to fully generate an opinion. I never would have expected to see Whirl. That mold has been used 3 times, with Whirl being the most recent. But it wasn't really a main-line transformer. It definitely shows that we can expect some obscurity in the future. I am optimistic that the leaders at Botcon will be a part of a starter set.

I have to wonder why they would choose "Transform" for Starscream when that isn't the same Starscream from series 1. So I'm wondering if we will see an Energon Starscream robot mode somewhere. Then with the two G1 leaders not shown, I agree there will be more to S2 than what is here. If we are luckier, maybe there will be a G1 starter and a recent series starter. I already count us as lucky because I was thinking that we wouldn't see new attacktix that weren't based on the movie until after marketing for the movie.

It would make sense to have 2 TF starters at once, like Marvel (Spiderman/Wolverine set and Ghost Rider set). Hopefully those sets would include the , as of yet, unaccounted-for figures. I'd really like to see what that Energon Demolishor can do! (And of course, Prime and Megs)
