The head shot works for almost everyone I've found except The Destroyer Droids, Tusken Warlords, and Lograys.
For the Tusken Warlords and Lograys, hit them in the back of the head (since they are weighted heavily int he front with their prodders).
The DD needs to get hit in the shoulder for optimal effect when knocking it down. Sometimes the head shot will make it wobble but not fall down.

Its kind of cheating, but I sometimes tend to move the prodder's tip ever so slightly into the opposing figure. Not enough to move its base off the ground, but ever so slightly push it from its resting position. I know I shouldn't, but I do it.
