Is Transformers Attacktix going to be the first collectable Transformers game of any kind?
I know they were trying to do a TF CCG a while back, but I'm pretty sure it never was released...

Wow, never heard of that one.
Is it collectable though? It looks like a boxed set that you buy once and have all the stuff.

I really have no idea. I frst heard about it a few months ago from some transformer forums where I was reading their comments on the new attacktix transformers. Allot of them would say that it looks as dumb as "what ever the game was"... They hated it because the figures didnt "transform".

It is an out-of-box game with everything included...not collectibe. I have a copy of the game that I bought at a KB Toys that was going out of business. I got it for $1.49 WotC was going to release a TF TCG based on the Armada line, but the popular rumor was that the fans wanted a G1 game and ont an Armada one, and those words of discouragement basically killed the game before it began. Personally, I have a rough sketch of a potential TF TCG that would start with G1, then have expansions to include other lines. If I could only get WotC to listen........

It makes sense that they'd hate the game since the figures don't transform, though you don't hear star wars fans hating it because Darth Vader can't force choke anyone and you can't use an X-wing.

Well, the Transform power is in this game at least, so maybe that's a compromise, maybe that other game didn't have the vehicle modes at all? The thing is, a lot of vehicle modes aren't setup for combat anyway, so I think the "giant robots fighting" aspect is well represented...

I have been on TF boards lately, getting a feel for Attacktix. The SQUEAKY wheels seem to think if it looks like a toy, then it should transform... because the only TF toys they have are because they enjoy the transformations. This is fine, you are allowed to only like the cool manipulations... but what they forget is that THESE are not toys made to TF. These are toys made to BATTLE where you relive the OTHER part of the cartoons and comics... If they spent the whole episode transforming that would be one boring show Remember, LOTS of Star Wars fans thought SW ATTACKTIX were stupid (me) until thwy played with them... and look at me now TF fans will come around.
