If I recall correctly, the GI Joe line was a more speculative one that was planned for release only after the Transformers line, and probably only if the Transformers line was able to hold itts own in the marketplace alongside the Star Wars line (thus suggesting the profitability of Attacktix generally, not Star Wars Attacktix specifically). Thus, we'll probably need to wait at least another six months (and I'd estimate a year, really) before we have much more word on the GI Joe line.
well its been almost a year since i started this thread and now I'm wondering if this year is the year for g.i.joe. With the 25th celebration coming up and a new line of special edition figures to commemorate this....... well i now start crossing my fingers!
I'll be at Toy Fair so I'll get all the dirt on this stuff. And this time, I'm going to take a good long look at all the Attacktix stuff and try and break down the series!
While you're taking that good long look shove a camera in front of your eye... TAKE PICS!! (If you can).
We've seen the new Star Wars & Transformers 'tix that are coming in the boosters and one Star Wars Mega but I'm sure ToyFair will show us some starter figures (2 starters for Star Wars?!?? 2 starters for Transformers?!?!! - I hope so), some Transformers Mega(s) (and another Star Wars Mega??!?!! - I hope so) and any other Attacktix suprises that Hasbro has in store for '07.
can anyone in this community shed some insight on why were still not seeing g.i.joe? i know g.i.joe isn't what it once was, but like i said earlier, its the 25th anniversary of the 3 1/2 inch figures . Theres a whole line of special editions coming out, wouldn't having the gijoe attacktix generation one fit in good with all of this? webhead? anyone"
If I had to guess,...I would say based on the sales of the Transformer line, they are going to hold off a little bit until the Attacktix line gets some momentum with Star Wars and Marvel. Star Wars and Marvel both seem to sell REALLY well and the Transformers did pretty good. If players can begin to trust the Attacktix line itself, not based on licensed brands, then all the Hasbro products may become Attacktix, but the last thing you want is to release a set, have it not do well, and not see it again for a long time.
One more reason is that we have not seen a G.I. Joe movie promoted. You may have noticed that the Attacktix sets, figures, and Megas tend to correspond with movies that are coming out (free advertising is fantastic). So, cross your fingers for a G.I. Joe movie. That would certainly increase the chances of an Attacktix set coming out for them.
If a G.I. Joe movie came out, that would be great! Not only will it most likely be a very cool movie, but there will be more Attacktix that come. Also, do you not think that if the Joes sell well, the Transformers will follow, since they are usually fighting each other, like in the new comics?
