If you guys need something new to hold you over until the new stuff comes out, here is a great game that has just been re-released after more than a twenty year hiatus. www.battlegroundgame.com. No its nothing close to attacktix, but if you like launching projectiles across the room and building castles etc. and destroying them, then you'll love it.

I kinda had this game. I had the futuristic version, when the brand was owned by Tomy.
Played the same way, but it was robots and lazers.
Awesome fun, I even saw the expansion packs, which I don't remember as a kid.
EDIT: ON a related note, this also makes me miss Twookies

I still have Crossbows and Catapults from way back when. I also have two big sets of Weapons and Warriors.
Do you guys remember Weapons and Warriors?
I haven't played it in forever.

wow! thats cool, i didn't expect anyone else to remember this game. Check the original out on ebay and you'll be reeaaalllll sorry you don't still have the game. My uncle is a big gamer, and has four or five sets total. We set up these huge castles and play with sometimes up to six people. Of course this is just kill and demolish everything, we don't play with the rules.

Oh yeah... this game rocks. I spent hours upon hours playing it against my brother. Great...another thing we have in common, Chris.... ;D We were twins separated at birth! I picked this game up last night... I've got an old friend from out of town coming in today for until Sunday... I'm sure we will break it in. The rules seem a bit different from what I remember from the 80's, but it's essentially the same game .

OK don't everybody go out and buy them all up before i can get a set or four!!!! ;D i had to choose between school clothes for my 1st grader or the game...... i must have stood in walmart for hours deciding on that one. I downloaded the rules from the web sight and did think that the rules were very different. The old set had little floor mats that you built on ..and if i remember you had to land your carom onto a square on that tile. Let me know how the game works cona chris. If its as good as the original, i might sell my old stuff and get twice as much new stuff!!!!!!

LOL! Clothes for your kid or the game... that's a tough one!
My friend and I played several games while he was in town for the weekend. The game plays very well and we had a total blast playing it.
We played with a table that was a little longer than the rules showed. We thought the weapons were a little wimpy at first, so we double wrapped the rubber bands or did other conconctions in order to make them tighter to get a more powerful shot. We were quite pleased with the results!
There is no "Automatic Win" like in the 80's edition, I remember that if you knocked over the tower or if you got a disk on the treasure on the mat then you won... there's nothing like that here. You have to knock over all your opponents figures and then get his/her hero (a nicer looking figure) to win. It took us about 25 minutes for a game (sometimes the last figure was a little pesky to kill).
We went out and got all three expansion packs as well. If you can only get one, I recommened the one with the Knight Battering Ram. We thought it would be pretty weak, but it's quite simply DA BOMB. It was on the verge of being outlawed but then we figured out a defense that helped minimize the carnage from a battering ram attack. The Orcs team has the better weapons in the expansion packs (in our opinion) but the Battering Ram helps to even the score.
The Battering Ram also comes with the Triple Catapult which is pretty cool (although it doesn't cause as much damage as you might think).
The Knight Trebuchet and Orc Mortar was our second favorite expansion pack. The Mortar uses these "rocks" that are made of a hard spongy material - they bounce all over the place and often you get a lucky roll to knock over a flag or figure.
What we thought would be our favorite expansion pack turned out to be our least by far. The Knight Gatling Gun was very hard to aim and the Orc Double Crossbow was very wimpy... even with a tightened rubber band the disks wouldn't go very far.

Sort of an old topic but I figured I might as well get on here and bump it with a few questions. I'm considering asking for a complete set of this for Christmas (either this or Marvelscape if the boosters that come out are any good). However, I must ask whether or not is has much staying power. Can you play for awhile or does it get boring? Also, how strong are the weapons? Can they knock down an Attacktix figure or are they to weak for that (Yes, you know exactly what I'm considering doing )? Like I said, I'm thinking that I'll probably get this for Christmas but want to make sure I'm not chucking $80-$90 in Christmas presents away. I'm really looking for a new weapon-firing game since Tix is taking forever and this seems like a decent alternative so if any of you have it (Cona Chris, perhaps could help me out, it'd rock big time.

I don't think it has as much staying power as Attacktix because there aren't all the possible teams/combinations that keep it fresh like Attacktix. But, I do not think it's likely to get boring quickly either... one way to keep it fresh would be to only allow so many weapons for each team per game (instead of all 6). If you double wrap (or other ways of tightening) the rubber bands on the weapons, then they are pretty good and will definitely knock over Attacktix figures. Using the rubber bands as they come without adjusting them will leave you dissappointed (a trick I learned from when I had the original game 20 years ago). As a kid, my brother and I had the original game, which is similar (albeit simpler) than this, and we played that all the time until the weapons finally broke from overuse. So, bottom line, I'd endorse it for Christmas!
