Talk to your Tampaneese friend, it could be that he is interested in making you a Press Agent for JoeAttacktix.com....

I wish I could justify going out to Kentucky.
It seems like the "Brand Manager" would be the same Brian from the San Diego con. It's strange that Hasbro said they didn't know, but there was probably just a communication error.
And I don't know if it will be only TF figures allowed, that's a strange circumstance. The game is designed to cross different realms (SW, TF, Marvel, etc.), but it is a TF convention, so I am curious to see how it will be run.
Also, somebody take a video of the con, especially Attacktix related stuff of course.

[ On the botcon topic though, for anyone who can go, if you like Transfomers at all, it's THE CONVENTION to go to for them. |sf>True. I've made it to three prior ones (I try to attend in even years.). I thought I'd pass along some news that I heard through the official Transforrmers club. The due date for mailing in Botcon admissions is September 1st (tomorrow) and paying via credit card (on the phone, I guess) is September 15th.

It might have been around 75 percent.). In the same light, I'd expect you'd have to use at least one Transformer if not have Transformers be x percentage of the squad. The reason for a rule like that would be obvious. For a good number of TF fans who have passed up Attacktix, this will be their first chance to see the game in action. If none of the squads use Battle Ravage, Optimus Prime, or Megatron, how else is an Attacktix Tournament supposed to encourage long-time TF fans to buy their own Attacktix collection? ;D If Hasbro reveals any new TF Attacktix "under glass," I'll take some photographs. However, I can't record video.

I'm sorry, folks, but that web page is about as flamboyant[i/] as any I've ever seen. For those who are interested in seeing this abomination : www.botcon.com/
Attendees: 9$ unless you're a kid, basically, but what that attendance fee entails, it's not entirely clear. They actually have classes on how to customize Transformers. Why drop the bucks in the class when you can go to JoeAttacktix.com and do it for free! (that was ad time, Joe)
Quote from Brochure: www.botcon.com/pictures06/screen%20brochure%20lex.pdf
Guys, looks like you MAY be able to get in for the 9$ and still play. That would be so fresh man. And whoop the inventor. Yeeah *gangsta accent* Now I'm gunnin for #1, Radar. I'll be taking that World Champion text bar. ;D I came in 2nd at the Supah-flah TNT Tournament, and them was some BMFs.
I'm in. I'll go and do this, but SOMEBODY make me a fake Press ID so I can talk my way into the private areas.

It's not as crazy as it sounds ;D My camera does 35 s video clips, but only in QuickTime format, and with limited quality If the whole "press agent" thing goes through, though, I'll do my best Not if anything to say about it I have! ;D It looks like the $9 covers only the sales floor, so unless the Tournament is being held on the sales floor and not in some separate room, it'd be a pricey entrance.

No worries, I have a nice pro-level SLR as well as a nice Kodak click-n-capture. I have a 2GB SD card, so I can capture about 4 hours of 30FPS 640x480 TV-quality video. As for the YodaBreaker bit, if there's any semblance of rules (such as no 10 Jedi Knights, or no 10 Wickets) you're through. I looked as much as I could at the brochure, but the details on what EXACTLY the tournament requires are non-existent. Maybe hit up Brian the Inventor, and see what the deal is.

For those who are going to the con from these boards, perhaps we could have a wee get-together for lunch at the con or something similar? I've been trying to ask in PMs to people individually, but I've had no luck thus far. Ideally, I'd like to gather somewhere that my wife wouldn't have to pay money just to get in, but if no one else is interested, I'm OK with that, too

In this instance, there is a Subway and an Arby's that are touching the convention center region. I can't tell which side of the street they're on though. I don't know if that's what you had in mind, but I thought I'd publicize that.

Actually, that's precisely what I had in mind - thanks! I'm more of a Subway person than an Arby's person (and my wife has a deep-seated disdain for Arby's, based on their ill-advised choice of a pitch man who is nearly universally reviled by Stargate SG-1 fans).

Guys, I was out there last week: The convention center is on the left side of the street (heading south) and there are pubs and restaurants littering the area. No worries on getting grub. The place is a madhouse of food and drink.
I like the idea of a pow-wow of sorts; I'll bet there's some tables around the foyer, and I'll bring my portable battle tabletop so we have some semblance of rules.
Sounds like a plot!

|sf>I just received my Botcon letter in the mail which includes the schedule for events. Here are the days/times for the Attacktix-related events as quoted from the sheet:
Friday, September 29
8:30 am-5 pm Walk up registration; late package pick-up
7 pm Game Night - this is new this year. This will be an opportunity for you to battle other collectors in the New Transformers Attacktix and other miniature or card based games. Bring your gaming supplies for this great evening of fun.
Saturday, September 30
9:30 am-10 am Attacktix Game sign-up
10:30 am Tournament Begins
Sunday, October 1
1 pm Attacktix Playoff
This answers a few questions we've had in the past. There will be registration at Botcon for the Friday events without having to do a preregistration, but no admission to Thursday events without preregistration.
In the past, there were very few events that were open only to preregistrants. This year, the 'preregistrants only' events are the MST3K on Thursday, the "Private Sales Room Preview" on Friday, and "Awards Party and Casino Night" (for the ones who ordered the action figure set) on Saturday.
YodaBreaker, you might want to e-mail the people behind the Botcon page about whether you can pay/sign up for Friday though Sunday on registration (ie. 27 dollars for the three days) and watch/compete in the Saturday Attacktix Tournament. I know admission gets people into the seminars and the sales room.
In 2004, the gaming tables were located within the dealer room and nearly everyone ignored them. I don't recall whether anyone mentioned them before hand. Furthermore, they dealt with the old Beast Wars board game and the Armada board game (neither of which involved collecting figures).
I hope there will be more Attacktix activity than there was 'gaming' at that Botcon, but it's a bit disturbing that Hasbro hasn't released Galvatron with the case yet. First, some Transformer fans will not want to buy a Star Wars case. Secondly, not having a case might discourage some people from bringing their figures. Thirdly, some Transformer fans might not even buy TF Attacktix figures until there's something Transformers-related to store them within.

Saturday, September 30 9:30 am-10 am Attacktix Game sign-up 10:30 am Tournament Begins Sunday, October 1 1 pm Attacktix Playoff Huzzah! Thanks much for posting this information. It's definitely something to think about. Oh, and I'm starting to doubt whether the TF Battle Case will be debuting anytime soon, although I definitely agree with your concerns about it not being around. In my mind, the main reason the SW Battle Cases failed at regular price was because they were priced about twice as high as they should have been (i.e., $20 instead of $10). We saw them drop like rocks on Amazon/TRU right before TRU separated from Amazon, so we know they can be sold for as little as $3.98, although I'm sure that's a fire-sale price. Truthfully, I'd like to see the Battle Case be released, mostly so TF fans can have good storage for their figures, too. IT looked like there may have been separate Autobot and Decepticon-labeled cases, which would have been truly nifty. Oh, and malform, Arby's pitch man used to be Peter Deluise, perhaps best known for the phrase "Take two for a test drive!" He also played Pete on Stargate SG-1, who was the abortive love interest for the main female lead character, Samantha Carter. He was widely disliked because he was a tool, and because he kept her away from her on-again, off-again romantic interest (and commanding officer) Jack O'Neill.

Why not just re-release the battle cases with a new sticker? I mean, WTF?
