www.megaconvention.com/And of course, there will be a tournament held there for Attacktix - see tournament thread for details. I went to MegaCon last year and having been to comic/horror/sci-fi shows my whole life (my dad used to run a comic store and was a big geek) this was by far the most unique show I've ever been to. Much better than Wizard World shows if you care more about content than buying 'exclusives.' Plus it's about 50/50 male:female ratio which is pretty awesome.

Well, I'm in my hotel room after having a couple of days at MegaCon, which I enjoyed tremendously. In particular, I really liked introducing a couple of people to Attacktix, though I know now that I need to keep my competitive streak in check. I think I'm much better as a facilitator than a demo-er Anyway, I was able to find a couple of Stargate SG-1 pins for my wife at 40% off in the closing minutes of the convention. I was going to get her patches, but I realized she wouldn't really be able to use them. Thus, when I saw the pins, I was quite happy. A couple of tips on convention buying that I figured out there: 1) Scope out all of the dealers before buying anything. Prices for the same items can vary wildly between dealers (e.g., I found the same Brak's Family figures marked for $3 and $15 at two different dealers). 2) If you can, wait until the last half-hour or so of the con before actually buying. The dealers are often desperate to unload stock at that time (so that they don't have to transport it back), and you should be able to get between 25%-75% off many different items.

Who won Sunday's tourney?

Sunday's Tourney was actually not as packed as the Saturday. It can down to Tay and YB and one other guy, so we didn't get to really run an official tournament!
So we did it so that everyone played best out of three, and Yodabreaker swept everyone. I am not sure of the Tay vs "Watson" matches, but I am pretty sure Watson had fun, if nothing else!
We had LOTS of new comers to the game both days, but closing time on Sunday is a bad time for Tourneys I guess. i wish more of you could come... I hope to get SOMETHING else together in a few months.

Yes, it sucked that there was an entry fee for the con, but trust me "I" didn't see any of the money I hope to have something soon, that is a lot closer to free!

The con was a great time for me. Bought some great comic book trades for 1/2 off which was my real goal. The Anime there was kind of the main event though. Saw some B-List celebrities too. They all looked pretty miserable except John Schneider (dad on "Smallville" and also from "Dukes of Hazzard") - he looked pretty cheerful and really stood out. He stood up the whole time taking picture with fans which was cool.
On the Attacktix front, none were being sold at the Con. I looked!
Overall, less interesting than last year but I think it was because there was also a big New York comic con this weekend which took precedence for most companies.
