That's really tough to say...they both were good, and played a good part in the Star Wars Saga...I might have to think about it for awhile...

I voted for Mace Windu. I'll explain why (GEEK ALERT). Qui-Gon had a style that leaved him often vulnerable (swinging in big arcs for example), that's why he got killed by Darth Maul. Mace Windu had a style that never left him vulnerable and he always thought ahead. That's why he almost beat Sidious. The only reason he died is because of Anakin (grr). Plus, he's on of my favorite characters

Mace Windu hands down. As Nickvader already noted, Mace almost destroyed Darth Sidious (or did Darth Sidious really intend all along to get "beat" in order to draw Anakin into the fray and seal Anakin's loyalty to the Dark Side? hmmmm) I think Mace would eventually win, though it would be a good fight. Samuel Jackson rules.

I would like to say Qui-gonn would win but Mace is too powerful. I want Qui-Gonn to win because he is one of my favourite Jedi, only second to Plo Koon.

[glow=red,2,300]Id say Qui-Gon Jinn. The reason why is because he was probably in to the force longer than Mace.

Gideon[/glow] Well, as I understand it, Mace Windu had the second seniority on the Jedi council, with only Yoda having been on it longer. Windu used Vapaad, which is a very difficult and powerful form that focuses emotions in battle to make one stronger. You can see that in Windu's face during his duel with the Emperor. Windu would win because he had more experience in the force and mastery of a very powerful lightsaber combat form.

For all the arguments in Windu's favor above, Windu would win.
Qui-Gon couldn't beat Darth Maul with help... how could he beat Mace?

Qui-Gon probably wouldn't win in an actual fight, but he would in the long run. After all, look at it this way. Qui-Gon was one of, if not the first, Jedi to become one with the Force and retain their personality. Mace Windu, on the other hand, became one with the Coruscant streets.

Mace, all the way. Mace sat on the Jedi Council, and he was a great master, whereas Qui-Gon was not on the council, was not ranked as high, and was killed by a lowly Sith Apprentice whereas his NOT YET FULLY TRAINED Padawan killed that same apprentice.
So, the question can be pared down to this: Would Mace Windu be able to take Obi Wan when Obi Wan was a simple padawan learner? Absolutely. Not to mention that he beat Sidious fair and square (Maul's master...) until douchebag Skywalker came in and de-handitated him.
So....the winner is Mace!
<Edit> I just got Clone Wars Volume 1 (on DVD) and I now KNOW Mace would kick Qui-Gon's tuchus...he defeated a planet of battledroids BY HIMSELF, then stopped on a hill to get a drink, then went back to whoopin the droids! The man is a beast.

Mace: Awsome with lightsaber Qui-Gon: Force gifted enough to make himself more powerful after death, then Obi, Vader, and Yoda did the same

For all the arguments in Windu's favor above, Windu would win. Qui-Gon couldn't beat Darth Maul with help... how could he beat Mace? Well, Qui-Gon didn't beat Maul but that is only because of his age, as for Mace who is 7 years younger than Jinn is therefore more capable in terms of fighting. Also, Maul was only 22 and completely filled with rage and therefore strong in terms of Sith powers, and the only reason Obi-Wan beat him is because he became very arrogant and instead of Maul killing him he was just toying with him.
