Note that there are some really nasty jokes being told in the background by some of GE's friends there in Match 3 section 3. Also, here's the Brackets for each tourney: 100 POINT LAUNCHERS ONLY: 200 POINT OPEN: CHOOSE YOUR OPPONENT'S TEAM:

Thanks for the brackets Superfly! GE took them home (probably to frame them and I forgot to take pictures before he left.

I would have to say that I'd like to see the best vs. the best at the next tournament: We should always record point counts and the people with the most points left should always play one another in the next round.
I noticed (in retrospect) that in the 100 point competition, the second tier matches should have been Jessica (100) v. Chris (100) and even if the top 2 players got a BYE because they were top tier, then Mike and Tim should have played each other since they were in the top ranks after Chris and Jessica.
Then in the 200 point matchup it doesn't make sense to me why even though the top person got a BYE the others should not have been matched more evenly - Tim(120) V. Dennis(90) and Chris (40)V. Mike(30).
It seems to me that if in the future we preplan the seeds based only on the starting positions and match positions there is a risk of very uneven matches (like me V. SinisterSyndicater where I beat him and only lose 1 battle droid).
Just a thought!

So rather than just give bye randomly, let someone earn them (even though that could be argued it was random because if you played against someone who wasn't very good - like the 2 guys GE brought who had never played before - you would have lots of points left). A tournament in theory should try to have the best players play against each other as late as possible, so by having higher seeds against lower seeds, you try to achieve this. And Superfly, I'm not sure what you mean in the 200-point... the top two first round winners got byes, then the loser with the most points (Jessica) the 3rd best winner, then the other two winners played. Tim got a bye and Jessica was who played Dennis. It's not perfect, but I thought it'd be more fair than just at having random matchups and byes.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I have no qualms since you and Tim were destined to stomp the snot out of me regardless.
If you have 10 people playing a single elimination tourney then there are 5 matches initially, randomized. There would be 5 winners from that, and likely one top winner. Depending on perspective, that person either gets a BYE or the lowest winner gets a BYE. Of the remaining players, the two top winners play one another, and the two lowest winners play one another. Now there's the original BYE guy, and 2 winners. Of the 2 winners who won the second match, the one with the lowest (or highest) score would go onto play the BYE guy. The winner of that plays the person who got the BYE the second match. This pits people of arguably similar skills with each other the whole way through so that everyone gets fair matches, right until the end.
As I remember, in the 200-pointer you changed me and Jessica up to play together so that 'the same people wouldn't play against one another again'. I think that the best thing to do is run the brackets based on merits rather than variety. That's all I'm saying, and like I said, it's no matter since we had so many freshies there (I think we really only had 4 people who had a lot of experience with the game) that it probably mattered naught. If you look at the charts it was really only a few people who were winning consistently which indicates that there were a couple (3) superior players dominating.

Though it'll probably take more time, the tournament that I'm planning at my local gaming shop, Wombat & Chips, is going to use Round Robin style match-ups. Everyone fights one another once, then the wins and losses are tallied to see how the players rank. Any ties will be handled with tie-breaker matches. Looks like I'll be able to avoid any bias since seeding isn't necessary. All in all, you did a marvelous job with the EIT, Chris. I said it before and I'll say it again: The lack of Tix at BotCon was disappointing, but the EIT made the 5 hour trip totally worth it.

I loved the way Chris did the seeding. It made me really want to not only win my first match, but also to do the best I possibly could so that I might get that bye.
It's like football. If you do good during the season, you get a bye week before the playoffs. Then you play the weakest team from the remaining group as an additional reward.
So if you compare it to that, I really like the idea.
Do you guys ever listen to your voice when your recorded and think "so that's what I sound like"?

Do you guys ever listen to your voice when your recorded and think "so that's what I sound like"? All the time. I hate hearing myself on voice mails, and I actually find my voice a bit annoying on the Attacktix petition YouTube video that we did (even though that's not my normal speaking voice).

We were all saying the same thing about you. I loved your Spidey voice. I'm telling you that when I heard it I immediatly thought back the the Spidey cartoons from the 90's. I loved those so much I bought the complete set of seasons.

Are you serious?!?! To even be mentioned in the same sentence as that Spidey cartoon is an honor, but to be compared..... I LOVED that show and, for me, that particular voice is a standard to which I've compared all Spidey actors since. The voice and attitude were perfect, and I'm thrilled that you think I came anywhere close to it, thanks!

I actually initially thought you dubbed it and chopped it almost. You had Peter Parker dead on amigo.
And GE I want COPIES!!!!!!
Regarding the discussion on bracketing, I wasn't aware that NFL did it that way, nor was I trying to illustrate bias - I was doomed from the start. To use the NFL analogy relating to Energon we had the Colts, Bengals, Eagles, Steelers in the same league as St. Ignacius High, Simon Kenton High, Hoover Middle School and the Peewee League All-Stars. I was just trying to point out that when all teams are of the same caliber it makes sense, but when there are wildly mismatched teams in a SHORT season, it's better to let the "B" and "C" teams play one another for more fun and a better shot at getting to play in the playoffs rather than getting stomped in the first game of the year and losing their star players to instantaneous beheading con lightsaber.

Shouldn't be a problem amigo. I still need to talk to the little lady about Memorial Day. So hopefully, I will have them for you then.

Thanks for the videos Chris. That guy with the blue and yellow hat is smokin' hot! And he has a huge attacktix collection, what's not to love? I think the little lady wants to be there on memorial day, as long as she gets to actually play someone other than the great GE who always wins and makes it no fun. But since I so rarely have time to practice, it usually takes me three games before my brain starts working in attacktix mode. Oh, and a whole game without a baby climbing all over would be nice too. ;D
