Well at least I enjoyed it! And I am SURE you are mistaken as I don't talk trash to ladies, ever, period. If you are talking about when I stated that you were "Out of your mind" for calling me on a powerstrike THAT I TOOK AGAIN and your husband agreed, then I do apologize. Granted, you did have some ruddy luck on the specials activating, the reason I won is that I didn't miss many shots, took out your KAM early before you were in range. and that my strategy worked better than yours that match. That's not to say that you couldn't beat me next time, just that this time I played better. You are indeed a capable opponent!
I have to disagree on KAM though - I think timing is everything. If you get a KAM picked off early it really hurts, irrespective of the outcome. That hurt me in other matches, and what's funny is that the only time my KAM came up white was against you. All day my SPs were not coming up, and my new Gold Vader only came back 3 times in all the matches I played.
Sucks when the whites don't come up...that was killing me all night! My biggest gripe the whole night was Venom. That guy just won't die!!! I had Venoms all night long (I think every team had one on it in every event where he was allowed) coming back up OVER AND OVER!!!!
Well, I am glad we all had fun, and I can't wait for the photos!

Ahhhh A great competition indeed, the Battles were fierce, the victors over exaggerated. Great tourny...

Again, thanks to all who showed up, especially IMVader3 and his family who came from NORWALK, CT to play. Debbie is a really lovely lady and a great mother, and IMVader3 really played well the whole time as did his sister Hannah. TNT Sorry, wrong kid. Vicky was my sister. And Greyelephant, I think Katie probably had the best time there, even though I don't think she even won a single match. We had a great time this year, and hope to come again. I was really expecting Vicky to get some kind of place, cause she did great at the BotCon, although I think they were all beginners there...Anyways, I'll try to get up as much of the pics that we took as I can, and hopefully find out how to get the video up this time. As far as I know,we only got a few battles, and hopefully all the winners. I know that I took a few pics on some of those new transformers, and all the prototypes that were in the auction, but I think we did use a 2nd camera. Pics will definitely be up this week, but no guarantee on the video.

I don't think she meant "trash talk" as much as you just got in her head.

the victors over exaggerated. Great tourny... LOL yeah, you pegged it! But the boards are fun because of our great writing skills right?

Well at least I enjoyed it! LOL! I think I really needed a break at that point. Constant battling and baby care were taking its toll. Not to mention providing nourishment for him and not getting any myself. I am going to blame my loss on the hunger of a nursing mom. That way no one on the boards can argue. LOL And I am SURE you are mistaken as I don't talk trash to ladies, ever, period. Granted, you did have some ruddy luck on the specials activating, the reason I won is that I didn't miss many shots, took out your KAM early before you were in range. And that my strategy worked better than yours that match. That's not to say that you couldn't beat me next time, just that this time I played better. You are indeed a capable opponent!! "Talking trash" was the wrong thing to say, and I apologize. I could not really think of the right phrase.... still can't. Sorry. You worded all of this very well. Thanks. Yeah, you are right. It would not have made much diff if my KAM was white, as you knocked him off on the first turn of the game. Good move mixed with luck on your part. Sucks when the whites don't come up...that was killing me all night! My biggest gripe the whole night was Venom. That guy just won't die!!! I had Venoms all night long (I think every team had one on it in every event where he was allowed) coming back up OVER AND OVER!!!! I had only 2 whites on most games and KAM was only white one time... against Jess. I planned that team based on the fact that the percentages of whites were high, so that was very dissappointing. I got 3 or 4 when I played you, which was better than my other games but still not what I expect out of that team. They should have been about 50%. And venom was only white for me one time the whole night!! Well, I am glad we all had fun, and I can't wait for the photos! I am so excited about Attacktix now. I am planning teams, practicing shooting, thinking of new customs to create, even hoping to host a tournament. All in all tournaments are a great thing, and this one was exceptional thanks to Brett.

I was wondering if those who placed would list what the trophies were specifically. I was curious as to what playable trophies Brett came up with. I will start a new thread for that so my ADD brain can follow it easier. Thanks in advance.

Tixcon 2008...my first official convention and it was completely and utterly AWESOME!!!! I had so much fun. Thats all me, GE (uncle) and TBHTIOT (aunt) could talk about on the way home. Playing some of the guys that i had met at Cona Chris's was great. I got to play chris and pete...both fantastic players, again. Defenders posse came along as well. Although i did not get to have a rematch with Dennis, i did have some unforgetable matches against mike, jason, and larry. Anna and i duked it out with our rebel teams...i cant wait to have a rematch with her as well. However, i ended up having to face both my aunt and uncle in the 200 point matches. That did not end well. =( My uncle and i had an AMAZiNG match. My lukes kept recovering but he strategically outplayed and beat me with his last standing figure...Venom. Then there was Carmen....DUN DUN DUN!!!! Her figures were coming up white relentlessly, whereas mine....black as Barry White. With my team of rebels, black is not the color you want to be seeing, and so.....*tears up* i was slaughtered, aka...it wasnt pretty. Nonetheless, i did still get a pretty cool bronze boba for getting 3rd in the 100 pt. star wars and i am happy that i at least put up a good fight. I look forward to seeing and playing everyone again and soon. Thanx so much to webhead for all that he did to make Tixcon happen and for making sure that it ran as smoothly as it did. Cant wait for the next one!!!

12. ConaChris shooting over my Venom from about 12'' away. What an amazing shot! I wish someone was there to record it. You just can't appreciate it as much without seeing it for yourself. Great shooting Chris! Ah - that was the highlight of the day for me... With Superflytnt standing right there saying quite sarcastically "Good luck with that" when he saw how I was trying to shoot Venom, and then getting the knockdown on GE's Venom (who thankfully came up black).

Another great TixCon event is in the books.
After months of planning, things got rolling Friday night...after meeting Chris for dinner, we were able to access the tournament room and begin to onload and setup. Just about the time we finished up with that some of the players were beginning to arrive. I stuck around for the meet and greet in the lobby, then headed home early (10:30ish)...I still had some loading at home to do.
Early Saturday I finished packing and headed to the venue. My buddy Rob (who would be helping run the event) and his daughter Hannah (who would be playing in her first tournament) met me there in the parking lot.
Unload and setup went really smooth...Chris dropped back by to lend a hand, and my mum arrived early to get check in and registration setup.
Our first room had registration, the auction, customs, and scenario playing boards setup. The second room had all 6 tournament boards and the giant whiteboard that allowed us to really draw out our brackets as needed.
Play started with three separate round-robin universe tournaments. With three events running at the same time, we had two boards dedicated to each unvierse. Everyone got to play a lot of games, and in the end, there were three undefeated winners...Tim in Marvel, Carmen in Transformers, and Pete in the Star Wars event.
With those opening events in the books, we broke for lunch. Pizza was brought in for some, while others went out for lunch. In between, folks browsed the art work of the customs and played some casual pick up games on the scenario boards.
After lunch we voted on the customs, with Carnage beating out Godzilla on a tie-breaker. And then it was time for the Masters Open event. A double elimination bracket was posted, lots were drawn, and we got underway.
One by one, players were eliminated, with every match being hard fought. Two of those eliminated players, Tom and Casey, were honored with the Sportmanship award for the day.
As the Masters event closed in on a final four, some of the staff and eliminated players began a monumental 9 way battle royale (with cheese!) This giant event used a huge playing surface, 12 feet long by 4 feet wide. In the end, Dennis would win the informal event with some good prizes to show for it.
32 games later Tim, our Marvel winner, would again claim a prize in the Masters Event. By this time it was late in the day, so we setup one more event, a 100 point single elim launchers only tournament.
That event boiled down to Larry and Jason if I recall correctly, with Jason winning in the end if memory serves. In the meanwhile, many players were just relaxing and playing pick up games or watching the action on the launchers tables.
And then it was over...everyone cleared out their gear and their winnings, said their good byes, and headed out on their ways home.
I really have to say I was incredibly happy with how the event worked out this year...the tounaments really ran themselves...because we could more clearly post pairings, I found that many players were more than capable of finding their opponents and getting started on their own. Even with a good mix of older and younger players, as well as more and less experienced ones, everyone seemed to enjoy the level of competition. With only one ot two rules questions all day (and several line calls, to be expected)...I really was just impressed with the level of play amongst all players.
One other note...as a group we raised over $100 for Toys for Tots...no mean feat. I would like to thank those of you that donated for the cause.
I need to thank Cona Chris for his help setting up and working on brackets during the day.
I would like to thank by good friend Rob for helping out as a tournament organizer.
I also need to thank my mum who was good enough to help with registration.
Finally I need to thank my wife Julie for all of her help behind the scenes and for allowing a whole room of our house to be taken over as the TixCon planning area for the past couple of months.
Until next year....
- Brett

Don't take this the wrong way Brett, but I thought your mother was your sister, she's a very wonderful and beautiful woman. I really regret that I didn't form a better thanks to you for putting together this tourny. The community here is great. These are not thingyy people, not elitist, no one really had put downs, all games ended with hand shakes. Although I was super tired. I hope this game last forever, because in my world... the world of video games.. everyone is an elitist, all have something to prove.. Here.. we all prove our merits through battle instead of victory, the way true warriors fight. Thanks Brett...for the chance to compete.
