Well, another fun tournament in Maineville (IMO anyways)!
Superflytnt came out of the losers bracket to knock off Travis twice for the 300 pt "30 and up" honors. Travis took second and The Big Fat Hairy Truth is Out There took third. In all we had 10 people participate. Very interesting teams! Travis had an all Bounty Hunter team. Wookiee Commandos were used! Yoda returned! TBFHTIOT broke two Vaders that weren't even hers (she captured them) - Oh my!
The Battle Royale was fun, and TBFHTIOT and Greyelephant came in 1st and 2nd (due to the Indiana contingent having to leave - GE conceded 1st place to Carmen, but she'd of whipped him anyway!). Superflytnt and Travis were battling for the 300 pt title during this match and thus didn't participate (we had to speed things up a bit for the Indiana folks).
Only four of us remained for the 200 point Main Event, Cona Chris, Superflytnt, NewButInto, and Dave (NewButInto's friend). We played a round robin, with Superflytnt coming out on top with a 3-0 record. Cona Chris was 2-1 (darn Superflytnt Electro coming up white at the end!), Dave was 1-2 and NewButIntowas 0-3. Both Dave and NewButInto gave me a good run for my money... I only had 1 figure left against Dave and 2 against NewButInto.
I'll post pictures later - I may not get to it for a couple days.
Thanks to all who came!
Thanks to Ionic Design for the labels for the trophy figures!
Thanks to Superflytnt for the trophy and T-shirts (which he just won back himself anyway!)

NewButInto (not Newbutino) is the name (200 point section)
Great time by all, and the real shocker of the night was Travis kicking everyone's butt mercilessly.
Thanks to Chris and Cindy for everything - you guys are the TOPS.
Great meeting Tad and Dave - really nice guys!
Good seeing the Indy folks again, Tim and Carmen are always fun, as is their cousin Andy who is a complete nut - maybe worse than me!
Thanks again to the hosts and the other participants - you guys are great!

Had a wonderful time! Once again Chris shows an uncanny ability to throw a great tournament. Travey did well. I was amazed with how many names and butts he was taking and kicking. Impressive, indeed. Carmen was an animal when it counted to place third. Tad and Dave were nice guys. It was a pleasure to meet you both. I hope to do it again with you guys. Prizes were awesome! In all we took home 4 figures. I look forward to being able to use them in your next tournament. Wish we could have stayed for the last match, but we just did get home as it is (11:00). Sorry we ran late. Traffic was terrible and the highway was shut down. We had to do an alternate route that took way too much time. C-ya guys next time. Until then.

Thanks for posting them. So was the 300 point melee GE's idea? If not why is his name on all the photos for that section? Just wondered. What is the figure in the clutches of the skeletal hand from Superfly's trophy, I couldn't quite make it out?

Shooter Venom - he was banned from the competition and thus he deserved to be in the hand of death. =D

What is the figure in the clutches of the skeletal hand from Superfly's trophy, I couldn't quite make it out? Actually it was my idea - I copied the wording from the first picture and then used that in typing the text for other people's teams and forgot to delete the "Greyelephant's" part. I did catch that and went back to change it, but I guess it didn't save them. I tried chaning them again - it seems to have worked this time!

I enjoyed myself immensely. Chris and Cindy are extremely hospitable and I felt right at home. Having a baby-break was great! It was the first time I left him that long. Pete, tell Melissa that he did not cry the whole time would you? She thought I was being cruel leaving him (17 months and not weaned yet) with my mother all day. I feel free now that I know he was fine. Loved the new category of 30 and up. It really made for some interesting matches. I am honestly pretty tired of the 200 point category. There is only so much one can do with it. I had a great time all around and really enjoyed spending time with everyone. It was really nice to have Andy along. Emily said she had a lot of fun with Hannah and wants to go back to play with her some more. I felt a lot less pressure to win this time which made the whole experience more enjoyable. I don't have sour grapes about any of my matches. I did not care at all to lose to Travey. He was so happy to do so well. I think I could have improved my game, but winning against him would require some impressive bowling, and I have to have major practice and some sneaky power striking to do that. I love the trophy figures. The new names were genius. My favorite is Samuel Jackson. I am very happy to have won the Transformers trophy figure as well. Travey was thrilled with his (but it stays here), don't want it busted. Speaking of busted, I have no idea how I managed to break 2 vaders. They must move totally different than Luke. I am hoping next time we have some more creative categories and maybe new figs to play with from the mod committee or dare I hope, Hasbro?

I hope some no name unknown comes and whips you all! That's pretty much what happened with Travis our 13 year old nephew. He won a match against everyone he played.

Gawd! That kid had a GREAT team - I am really surprised we hadn't seen that before. He had me KILLED in the first round along with everyone else, and we all thought that there was no way to beat him. I watched his matches and how he played everyone else - everyone was really pretty aggressive against him. On my first match I clumped up and attacked first with my Vaders - what a huge mistake. He captured them both and proceeded to whip me stupid with them. The second round was a different story, though - I figured out the way to beat him was to clump up my figs to make them 'bulletproof' and then use my Lukes to do the dirty work so he couldn't Recover them if they lived. I then proceeded to stack 2 figures next to one another and then kill his Bossks one at a time (Chris's idea) and if my attacker got captured to use the stacked guy behind my attacker to kill the fresh captive on my second attack; if not, to pass on my second attack. This worked well the first time but it was mostly luck - he only got 3 whites out of all his figures. The second match was easier because I did the exact same thing except I went from left to right with all my figures, boxing them in and getting easy multi-kills (without use of the dreaded powerstrike, I might add) since they were only an inch or two apart at this point. All in all, Travis was a class act the whole time and really did well against a slew of seasoned Vet-Tix-rans. Hats Off!
The real surprise for me was that GE didn't take it all with his 5 Vaders. I thought for sure that they would kick some butt and he got some great multikills against me right in the beginning scaring the piss out of me. His masterstroke was killing his own Wookiee Commando to get a free move and attack for a Vader which was VERY effective - killed 4 of my guys in one saberstroke.
Of all the matches, the closest had to be Chris - he had me down to one Electro, boxed in to the left corner on my start zone and he had 2 Grievous bodyguards - 1 of each series. He killed my Electro and by the GRACE OF GOD ALONE he came up white. I put in another Electro on the opposite corner and picked off the first. He slowly advanced with the other but I got a good base-shot in and whacked him. Funny thing is that if he would've had R2-Q5 he would've won!!
I felt bad at the end playing Dave and Tad - I killed them both in 2 turns or so with the Gold-Kam Suicide on the second turn, had my 3 JKs murder the whole crowd, and then had one more attack before they could respond. Both were good players indeed but they had never seen GoldKAM in action, and that was a rough way to learn about them.
The "LUCK OF THE IRISH" moment happened when Steven had 5 Droidekas and a Gold Nute all locked up in a ball and I hit them point blank with a S3 Luke. I killed his WHOLE squad in that one shot and ALL BUT ONE CAME UP WHITE.
All in all, great times, no controversies, and GREAT FRIENDS HAVING FUN.

Gawd! That kid had a GREAT team -Yep, GE is a team building genius, and I didn't even help with this one! I am really surprised we hadn't seen that before. It was that effective because the captured figure was always a 30 or 40 point figure. It wouldn't fare as well in a normal match up with lower figs, higher numbers. KWIM? He had me KILLED in the first round along with everyone else, and we all thought that there was no way to beat him. I watched his matches and how he played everyone else - everyone was really pretty aggressive against him. On my first match I clumped up and attacked first with my Vaders - what a huge mistake. He captured them both and proceeded to whip me stupid with them. The second round was a different story, though Yes, I think I could have done better if I had a chance to learn from my mistakes. I did have 2 Lukes come up black right away though, hard to recover from that regardless. - I figured out the way to beat him was to clump up my figs to make them 'bulletproof' and then use my Lukes to do the dirty work so he couldn't Recover them if they lived. I then proceeded to stack 2 figures next to one another and then kill his Bossks one at a time (Chris's idea) and if my attacker got captured to use the stacked guy behind my attacker to kill the fresh captive on my second attack; if not, to pass on my second attack. The second match was easier because I did the exact same thing except I went from left to right with all my figures, boxing them in and getting easy multi-kills (without use of the dreaded powerstrike, I might add) I am not so good at the striking, which is why I like Goblin and Megatron so much! ;D since they were only an inch or two apart I noticed that he was moving them all up together... and that it was a mistake. I did not want to give him pointers though, Gawd, the team was tough enough!at this point. All in all, Travis was a class act the whole time and really did well against a slew of seasoned Vet-Tix-rans. Hats Off!
