Have a 'tix related question? Need a finer point on a ruling? Wonder what we were thinking when we made power x?
Here's your chance...
Rules Q & A
Q: What should happen if a figure under protection of Evade is knocked down? - YodaBreaker
A: From the FAQ -
Q: Does the special power thing on the bottom [the attacktix window] of the base have to be fully white, or not? - JW18
A: It has to be "mostly white" to activate an "If White" power. If there is a sliver of black showing, it's still white. If there is only a sliver of white, it's considered black. If it's hard to tell or if there is a disagreement...in a tournament call a judge. For casual games, without looking in the window roll the wheel once forward and once back (or vice versa), hopefully that should recenter the dial correctly.
Q: What if a figure's attackback is activated? Say Joey's Logray is killed and gets an Attackback for two Ewoks. Joey moves one of his Ewoks and kills Frankie's Clone Trooper. Frankie's Clone comes up white. Who goes first: does Joey continue with his Attackback or let Frankie take his Attackback?
A: Your example has an "illegal" play already... From the FAQ -
Treat Attackbacks like mini turns within a turn...move all of the eligible Attackbackers, then start attacking with them. If during the course of their attacks you activate an opponents Attackback, they immediately get a little mini turn within your mini turn to complete their action..so in your example, Joey would need to move both Ewoks first, and then Frankie would get his Attackback after the first attack was made against the Clone Trooper. If that Attackback takes out the second Ewok that moved, that would end Joeys Attackback. If not...he would then get his second attack out of it.
Q: If you have prodder wolverine(the one with the effect panel) & another X-men in play. (If you know wolverine's effect in order to activate it you must defeat a leader) [I'm famililar with it. ]You are up against SW4 Vader & another figure. You move wolverine up to vader and manage to knock him down, but he's white.
Technically, Vader fell, but is able to stand right back up, would wolverine's effect activate? - various
A: Vader was knocked over as the result of an attack (and not protected by say, Evade)...so he was defeated, which activates Wolverine's effect. The fact that Vader's power brought him right back into play instead of sending him to the defeated area doesn't change that.
Q: I attacked my own golden KAM which subsequently knocked over her golden KAM. Both were white. Who goes first? - greyelephant
A: There is a complex example of this in the FAQ...the short answer is that your opponent resolves their power first. Your wife would get the Attackback, then you.
Q: If I am playing somebody that is using Battle Droids and I have Mystique on my team can I put Battle Droids into my back ups in hope of possessing one of my opponents Battle Droids?
A: Sure...if you have no other use for your Back-Ups and you are using Mystique, then adding a popular recruit target could make sense. Certainly there are no rules against it. Personally I would pick Super Optimus Prime.
Q: ...and during a Tournament could I make this change (adding B.D. to back ups) half way through the Tournament?
A: I would not allow it. I'm not sure if we have added that to the tournament rules yet or not, but the only reason I would allow someone to make changes to their squad or back-ups during a tournament would be if there was figure breakage.
Q: What happens if terrain traps/blocks off a figure? - destroyer295
A: Currently this would fall under house rules. However, my opinion would be as follows...if terrain knocks over a figure after being struck by an attack, the figure is defeated. (This is how we played it at TixCon, even though I don't think it actually came up.) If a figure is isolated by terrain...can it be shot at? Can it shoot out? As a rough rule...I would say that if there appears to be a deadlock where neither side can attack the other due to terrain...either determine the winner by who has the most points worth of figures still in play, or move all figures back to the starting areas and continue the game as normal.
Q: ...My question is, does she get to decide the order of whites (specials) to bring in one of my defeated Jedi and thus rescue her G.G.? Or is the game over? - greyelephant
A: The controller of the defeated figures decides the order of the specials being resolved...see above for some complex examples. The second implied question seems to be "is the game over immediately once all chracters are defeated"...which is a no...the figures get a chance to use their special powers first.
Q: I attacked Thing by putting DD's billy club between Things legs and lifting him off the ground...Now if I let go of DD's base, he will fall forward...So my question is. After I attack with DD, can I remove the defeated figure off of the end of his club BEFORE I let go of his base, or do I have to let go of DD's base first and see if he can remain standing with the figure straddling him? - greyelephant
A: Most strikers need to be held onto during the duration of their attack, lest they go flinging about the board in unintended ways. Likewise with Daredevil, once his attack has defeated Thing, Thing needs to be removed. Just hold DD down until you remove the defeated figure.
Q: Say you kill boba fett with your clone commander and he gets captured. On the next attack, you kill the clone commander that was previously yours but is now under your opponents control. If his special window comes up white, who benefits from the special power? - copes
A: The controller of the figure at the time it is defeated is the player that gets to use the special power.
About the Game
Q: [Can you tell us] the release dates for the Series 5 SW and TR Series 2. I know this may not be your department, but if you can it would be greatly appreciated! - phoenixflood
A: I cannot, because we don't have firm release dates...which is to say that Hasbro (as far as I know) does not require stores to "hold" the release until a certain date...they get them when they get them, and put them out when they do their restocks. Your best bet is to follow the release threads on this forum.
Q: What were your thoughts in regards to transform as a special in the design phases of TF1? - malform
A: TF1 was just before my time...so I had no input on it. However, I can comment that I feel that the Transform power works well within the context of the game, even though it may not feel like the best thematic fit. "Recruit"ing figures to the exact spot the previous figure occupied runs too many risks that the follow up attack could easily finish off the newly brought in figure...hence Recruit/Transform/Infiltrate all use starting areas in general for figure placement. Now...if you brought a figure in AND gave them an Attackback...now we are talking...
Q: When making Greedo--WHAT WERE YOU GUYS THINKING?
I mean, medium missile, 40% SP ratio or so, medium base... goodness sake, he's ten points!
A: He's definitely ahead of the curve in my book...don't count on seeing any more figs quite at his level.
Q: Are we going to see anything in the future that could possibly reverse the effects of Vanquish? - greyelephant
A: In theory...I could see a power/effect that targets figures that have been removed from the game, or are outside of the game. There are a few precedents like this already in card games..."Wishes" in Magic come to mind. It's always a possibility.
Q: Is there any chance of seeing Specials and Effects related to POINTS in the future? - turbomagnus
A: Yes...it has already been done. The new Hulk in the Marvel 2 starter refers to specific point costs. The existing Daredevil does this in part already also. The only thing I'm hesitant to use right now is base size as a condition.
Q: Do you think Hasbro will ever make a striking ROTJ Luke from the battle between him and Vader? - Luke Skywalker
A: I would like them to. The long odds would seem to be for it...Luke tends to show up in a lot of sets.
Q: Based on what you know of your level of input into the mechanics of the game, how likely would it be that something along the lines of [house rules thread] would have any effect on the information that's released and/or maintained by Hasbro itself? That is, how receptive would they be to proffering our suggestions and issuing various errata or clarifications, much as seems to be done for Magic: The Gathering, HeroClix, and Star Wars miniatures? And how likely would it be that they would publish such errata and clarifications, anyway?
A: Well...one of the big reasons I have the position I do is because I'm here day in and day out keeping an eye on what the concensus is on stuff like this...and I filter those ideas through. So, if your first question is "Does Hasbro listen to us when it comes to rules?" the answer is "yes, that's why you're reading this right now." Keep in mind though that the target audience for 'Tix is different from that of MtG, HC and SW minis, and younger players tend to have simpler questions, as you'd expect. For more complex questions...that's why I'm here now, trying to sort that out for you all.
Q: Is Hasbro considering adding any other "universes" of Attacktix figures in the near future?
A: I'm sure the higher ups have considered other lines, GI Joe has been rumored since the beginning. The only thing I can say is that I'm game for anything.
Q: I think I remember reading something that said there will be a new addition to base sizes for non-Mega figures, "Huge". Is this true? - Leumas
A: There are no plans at this time to add any base sizes to the Small/Medium/Large standard sizes for the "normal" figures.
Q: Has the design team considered making a Rancor mega? Is there a chance we'll be seeing any more SW vehicles? - phoenixflood
A: Personally, I would like to have a Rancor. I'd also like to see more vehicles, especially those that can be done a little easier in scale, such as speeder bikes and STAPS. Whether or not those will be made remains to be seen.
Q: Just a couple of questions, how is it that they decided to use solid missiles and light sabers instead of the clear missiles and light sabers in the series one figures pamphlet. Was it more expensive to make them that way? Also, would you consider releasing a clear missile replacement pack? - phoenixflood
A: I believe that cost and durability both were at issue at the time. Since Electro has the more translucent missile now, it appears that they have worked out the kinks.
Q: What was the thinking behind the names "Luke/Han Solo as Stormtrooper" and "Han Solo on Hoth"? Was this just an "oopsie" of excessive figure name text that inadvertently created confusion about special power and effect application, a conscious decision to exclude certain figures from powers and effects, or something else? - Yodabreaker
A: My understanding based on the answers given in the past was that this was done to add flavor to the figure names and not to effect gameplay in any way. I know there is precedent in other games that involve Star Wars that it is to be understood that Chewie means Chewbacca, etc.
Q: I doubt you can truthfully answer this question and keep your job but here it goes: awhile back one of the Attacktix makers (I forget at which event/Joeattacktix.com interview) mentioned we could expect expanded universe figures in upcoming Star Wars boosters. Shortly after this, however, The Force Unleased was revealed as was more details on Hasbro's plans for the Clone Wars television series. If at all possible could you clear up if this remark was referring to making characters based off appearences in these two new expanded universe tales or if it was meant to tell us 'yes, Mara Jade and Darth Revan are coming, just you wait and see.'
A: All I can say is this, that my understanding is that the Tix line would have access to any character that the other Star Wars lines put out by Hasbro would have.
Q: On Venom's special it says "Choose and remove a figure from your opponent's defeated area, then stand this figure back up"
My question is, why must you choose and remove one of your opponent's defeated guys? What's the point? So that a Rally SP will not take effect? Doesn't seem all that helpful... - Leumas
A: It does prevent Rally type powers from working. It also limits when the power can be used...it doesn't work at all if you haven't defeated anyone yet, and it can only be used a finite number of times.
Q: Will there be more specific requirements in the future? By that, I mean like "Recover if a Rebel (Star Wars Class) Leader (Attacktix Class) is in play" and such. - turbomagnus
A: Yes...referencing multiple classes lets me further refine the way certain powers works, and typically the more specific the requirement, the greater the ratio I can assign. It's a power level balancing tool.
Here's your chance...
Rules Q & A
Q: What should happen if a figure under protection of Evade is knocked down? - YodaBreaker
A: From the FAQ -
Q: I have a figure that is benefitting from the Evade power, what happens if he is knocked over in an attack?
A: If a figure that is protected from attacks by the Evade special power is knocked over during an attack, stand that figure up. (Grind the figure before standing them up.) If multiple figures are knocked over during the same attack, those not protected by Evade are defeated normally, regardless of which figure was "hit" first.
Example: Matt's Darth Vader (Force Blast) defeated Rachel's Wicket last turn, and the Evade ability activated for Ewoks. This turn, Vader's attack hits Chief Chirpa (an Ewok) knocking him back into and also knocking over Luke Skywalker. Chief Chirpa stands up, Luke is defeated.

B. Move all then attack all (like a normal turn)... Move 1,2,3 Attack 1,2,3.
A: The attacking figures need to be declared as soon as the power comes up. Option B is the proper order. Move all, and then attack all.
