Hiya.
I'm going to post a fairly long intro below, so here's the quick stats for the impatient:
Name: Luke Age: 26 Interests: Cartoons (mostly 80s/90s), comic books, Heroclix, superhero action figures, literature, movies, and now, Attacktix. Superheroes pretty much dominate my interests, but I've been known to surprise people. Skills: I'm an English major and an aspiring published author. My goal would be to someday write comic books featuring the characters I love, but frankly, I enjoy reading and writing so much that I'll settle for any job that pays me for it!
The long intro: I scoffed at Attacktix when I first saw them. "Lame!" I declared. That was pretty much all the attention I paid. Then Hasbro got the Marvel license and I saw the Attacktix previews. "Stupid!" I said as I turned the page.
Recently, I was in Chicago. I saw two Marvel boosters marked down, and on a random whim decided to pick them up, getting Thor, Gambit, and 2 Punishers. Examining the figures in hand, I was able to appreciate the sculpting I previously bemoaned, and found I actually enjoyed the forced perspective style that some of the figures had (Gambit especially). When I got back into town, I found that the local Wal-Mart had put all their Attacktix on sale. With a shrug at my new addiction, I scooped them into the cart. I read the rulebook, browsed the Hasbro site and these boards, and decided that the game was silly, but collecting the figures would be a blast.
Last night my friend Joe came over and saw the figures. He looked them over, browsed the rules, and talked me into giving it a try to relieve our boredom. We laughed, we chased missiles, we discussed the finer points of Skyblast's apparent immunity to death... and after a six-hour marathon, I am now firmly a convert. This game has that elusive quality about it that I like. You know the quality I mean: FUN. I think it's simply impossible to take this game seriously enough to not enjoy it even when you're losing, and that's a very, very good thing!
So here I am, with a bag full of extras to trade and geekiness to spare, ready to admit that I didn't know what I was missing, and I'm now ready to join in the fun.
Hello!

Welcome Whizkid, you are not alone. Many here (self included) thought Attacktix was silly and decide just to buy a few. But once a game is played it is very obvious how much fun the game is.
Glad to have you, feel free to ask any questions. We are a friendly group.

Yeah Whizkid, welcome! I also thought Attacktix was silly. I actually ignored the game until the TF series came out, then I got hooked!

Tell me, whizkid, do you live in Oklahoma? Because your profile sounds somewhat like one of my cousins...
Also, welcome!

Hi, I'm MadTix and I just joined this forum.
My real name is Justin, and I live in Tucson, AZ.
I wasn't really into Attacktix at first, but when I got the S1 starter set for my birthday back in '05, I was hooked! I only have SW 'Tix as of now, with no S2 or S5 at all!
I was a regular visitor to this site, and I finally decided to sign up. I hope I can get a warm welcome, and I look forward to posting on thsi site! ;D

Yes, welcome MadTix! Hopefully we can help you grow your SW collection, or even corrupt you enough to want TF/MV figures too! ;D

Welcome MadTix. I'm glad you signed up. It is nice getting more people out West on the boards. Perhaps you could even make it out to the next Comic-Con (?) . Hope you enjoy your stay.

Hi there! If you don't know who I am then you may feel free to guess. I have met Conachris, yodabreaker, greyelephant, malform (who royally kicked my butt), and superfly. I have also been in on the rules discussion from the beginning even though I am not a member of the committee and I am new to these boards. I chose this name because DH told me to pick something unique to me. I love researching cryptozoology and was very excited about a possibility of a fire-breathing dinosaur one day after reading an article. I got laughed at so much. I decided my belief in cryptozoology creatures (especially nessie) was pretty unique to me in the group I run in. The other unique thing about me is that I am supremely interested in education and am undertaking homeschooling my daughter in a classical education. Learning how to teach her in the classical methods is what I spend most of my time on. I couldn't think of a good name to go with that though. So here I am, a Yeti. I am pretty disappointed that most discussions are over now that I have decided to join. This hiatus really sucks, though it has saved me some money, I am sure.

You're a beautiful goddess that has descended upon this earth to bless us with your presence?
You're also the one I sent a donation of a significant amount to and it still hasn't gone through.
I give you Karma, you give me Karma in return.

Based upon my magical theorizing powers: Mrs. GE, correct? Cool. If I'm correct on your identity (which I'm pretty darned sure I am) and you go to TixCon, you have to talk to my mom. She's homeschooled myself and my two brothers although she only became interested in classical educations late in the teaching. So, since she's a bit late for us, she's always wanting to do it for herself . She's done a fine job with us considering my older bro and I both graduated today. Anyways, nice to see a new face and hopefully new Tix come out so we DO have some interesting things to discuss (and I concur on Cryptozoology being neat. Some of its bologna but some is very compelling stuff).
