Okay. Found a review on SuperHeroHype about this movie. I pretty much predicted everything in it except for one thing - Galactus is a huge cosmic cloud. I mean, seriously, what the heck? Are they trying to anger all the big-time fanboys? Fans went crazy over this rumor over a year ago, why wouldn't the company try to avoid repeating the criticism they got from Doom in the last one? Thankfully Marvel is going for in-house development in future Marvel films. Sure, Galactus' purple hat and armor isn't exactly what viewers want these days, but they could at least make something like this. Plus, Galactus doesn't actually eat the planet, per se. According to Wikipedia, the book of truth, all he does is suck the energy out of the planet. So he doesn't actually have to be this massive hunk of a man to do his planet eatin'.

Well, I just got back from the movie and must say that I loved it. I really liked the first one and if you did to, you will like this one better.
Galactus was different from what I expected, but IMO it didn't detract from the movie.
The surfer looked awesome!

Well, sort of, not by choice. However, I believe later he chooses to become one of the good guys.

Huge..... cosmic...... cloud. Sigh. I was hoping to see a huge mountain of a man. I didn't bother to see the first one. I kinda have higher hopes for #2, but I don't know. I might wait till the dollar show. I still hate their casting choices- except for Thing.

Not really sure what you mean by "casting choices"? I thought they did a great job representing their respected characters. Jessica Alba wore too much make up in this one.
Johnny Storm was brash, thingyy, and arrogant. Thing was callous but with a big heart. Mr. Fantastic was still learning his role as leader. Sue Storm was the female touch that was necessary for the team.
I don't know about Dr. Doom. He seemed like a different person than from the first one. However, I still liked him.
Silver Surfer was incredible! Loved him. Well, not love as in man/alien love. More like love as in he was cool. ;D

Joe and I checked this out today. Great family movie overall, very fun and it didn't drag anything out (it clocks in at 1 hr. 29 min). I personally liked the way they represented Galactus, I could do without the ridiculous purple outfit/helmet representation. The Silver Surfer for me stole the show. Of course the team has lots of cute quips toward each other while saving the day.
If you liked the first film (I did), then SEE THIS ONE.
My favorite superhero movie of the year.
SPOILERS BELOW:
Also, I avoid spoilers but I was presently surprised to see Dr.Doom again.

I saw it the other day. I thought it was pretty good, but I agree with everyone that Galactus should have been a giant dude and that the FF AND the Surfer should have fought him at the end.

Annointed1 and I saw this movie this afternoon, and overall I thought it was outstanding. The Silver Surfer was my favorite comic book back in the day, and they did an excellent job with him. The Galactus-cloud didn't bother me too much, especially since at the end there was a "glimpse" of his head in the cloud.
For the first half of the movie I thought Jessica Alba was terrible. And it was like in the first scene with her they tried as hard as possible to make her blonde hair and blue eyes look fake. Ioan Gruffudd (Mr. Fantastic) didn't seem as good as he did in the first movie, but he was passable. Thing was about the same, and again I thought Chris Evans (Human Torch) was far and away the best actor of the four.
I was a little annoyed when I jumped on the theater's website to find the show times and found the blurb about the movie revealed who else would be appearing in this movie (listed earlier in Phoenix's post)! Even though it's revealed in the first ten minutes, I was pretty annoyed to have that spoiled. I did think he was much better this time around, a lot more of a megalomaniac this time around.
Those are the only critiques I have, overall I loved it! And after the scene between Mr. Fantastic and the army general (if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about) I wanted to stand up and cheer for Mr. Fantastic!

My wife and I just got back from seeing this. We both thought that Ms. Alba indeed looked odd in the first half of the movie (distractingly so, as we tried pointing out exactly what features were off with her appearance), and her acting seemed off, too. For me, the movie just didn't cohere as a finished product as much as I'd have liked. I could have used another 15-30 minutes of "connective tissue" to assemble the various narrative threads into a more meaningful whole. We didn't like this one as much as the last one, though the effects shots were darn cool, and the Surfer was portrayed with a sufficiently cryptic but noble stoicism as to be an intriguing character. He's one I wish there had been more of.

I know we're behind the times, but MidnightMajick and I just watched this for the first time tonight. I thought the first movie was good, but a bit slow. This movie, however, went by quickly and was more action-packed than the first. The bonds each character had with one another seemed to be more of a focus in this film, and I definitely thought that was a big improvement. The Silver Surfer was everything that I remember him being in the cartoon that I grew up with, and Doom was a pleasant surprise. Galactus was different, but not in a horrible way. The few shadows and silhouettes were enough for me. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but the movie was really good and I'd like to see the Silver Surfer spin-off become a reality. .....Anyone know any details about it? I'm not sure if IMDb's listing for it is 100% up to date, since it's listed for a 2009 release and I haven't really heard anything other than that. And after the scene between Mr. Fantastic and the army general (if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about) I wanted to stand up and cheer for Mr. Fantastic! I loved that part too! Nerd power!
