I was just wondering what people think of the games they are making for the Transformers movie. I'm especially interested in the ds games.

As long as the game gets decent reviews (average of 7.0 or higher, preferably), I'll be buying the Wii version of the game. It looks like Mercenaries but with giant, transforming robots! With that sort of selling point, I'd buy it even if it wasn't Transformers and was just some Mechassault type brand. The TF license is just an extra bonus to me. Seriously, I'm going through "Blow random **** up" withdrawal at the moment and this game looks like it could very easily fill that gap at the moment .

Yes, the DS game looks great. I do not yet have it but I'll own it soon, if you want to know some opinions on the Transformers games you could go take a look at the Gamespot or IGN forums or their player ratings.

It looks really cool how you can transform whenever you want and have free roam and stuff... I'm saving up for the Wii version as we speak .

I don't trust reveiws too much unless i don't like the game from the start. Example, how FFXII for like a perfect ten, yet the game sucks harder Mega Maid.

yet the game sucks harder Mega Maid. Nice Space Balls reference! ;D I have both version for the DS, though right now I'm only playing the Decepticon version. You start out in story mode as a generic Decepticon (which you name) and have to scan a vehicle form. I could only see one truck available , so that's what I scanned. After that, it figures, that there are a ton of other vehicles just sitting around for you to scan. You are still able to scan their forms, but they just get stored in your memory. I haven't found if it's possible to switch forms after you've chosen. It's possible that after you beat the game in your original form, you may be able to go back through in whatever form you wish. I'll have to do some investigating on this... The gameplay is very GTA...except for the fact that you are the car! And it's also better to pick up and smash other vehicles, rather than steal them. You're able to rip lamp posts out of the ground and use them as weapons, and your character gains experience and levels for defeating enemies. Even the puny human cars that you wreck give you some EXP! There are a bunch of generic Autobots running around trying to beat you up, as well as the local police force, which varies in power depending upon your "Threat" level. Level 1=Police cars, Level 2=cars and armored vehicles, Level 3=same as 2, but in greater numbers, Level 4=everything from previous threat levels, plus tanks. I like to pick up the tanks and toss them at the clusters of cars! It's pretty fun and you even get to play certain missions (those directly related to the storyline) as the main characters. I played a mission as Barricade and had to pursue Bumblebee in vehicle mode, and then fight him once I caught up with him. It's fun so far, though I'm not sure it's for everyone. I'm a devout TF fan, so things that would bother normal people about games don't really affect me, since I'm so busy drooling over the robots. If you think you'd like to buy it, I'd recommend testing it first in the form of a demo, or if you have a friend who already owns it, then make him give you a chance to play.

Yeah, but if one doesn't do research on a game, of which reviews are the primary information givers since previews are generally candy-coated, one could easily buy a "Drake of the 99 Dragons"-level P.O.S.

They either candy coat it, or rip it a new blow hole on things normal gamers don't care about.

Alright, I bought Transformers: The Game for the Wii last night and have played it for about two hours since then. I almost didn't buy the game due to the sub-par reviews it has been getting (5.6 or so from IGN, 6.0 from Gamespot, a fair amount of trashing on message boards) but then I took a look at what they said and thought it through. Graphics, pshaw it's a Wii game and if I wanted graphics I'd have gotten a X360. Annoying leader telling you what to do while trying to free roam, turn down the volume. Repetitive, aren't all games repetitive at their core (run here, shoot there, solve that puzzle, hijack that car, rotate that Tetris block)? Controls a bit finicky, I'll get used to them. Indestructible trees? I've played Mercenaries so don't go telling me about invinci-trees. I just guess the game designers are closet treehuggers ;D. Camera is annoying, I've seen annoying cameras. So, after buying the game, how much of this holds water? Graphics are great for a Wii port of a PS2 game and the perfect level of detail I'm looking for in a game. The "leader" has only popped in on me four times and it really isn't that annoying. A bit repetitive I guess but I sure do love blowing up robots and buildings real good so I don't care. Controls are fine and I don't see why reviewers are complaining about the cars swerving all over the place. They handle fine for me. Finally, the camera is the biggest issue I have with the game. It just seems to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time. However, this can be fixed via liberal use of the "camera reset" button. Now, what is good about this game? Let me count the ways: 1. You are a giant Transformer that can blow anything up. 2. It is awesome to run around with a giant doughnut, tossing it at enemy Autobots. 3. Playing as Scorponok, burying underground, tunneling next to an enemy, then popping up and unleashing dual machines guns is fun, fun, fun. 4. You are a giant Transformer that can blow anything up.5. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop and then, once you slip or get bored, changing into vehicle mode mid-fall and screeching away with turbo. 6. I never knew a tree, fence piece, cop car, or field goal post could make for such a good weapon . 7. You are a giant Transformer that can blow anything up!8. You can point and shoot to aim (Wii version only). Awesome! 9. Driving down the road and having a car suddenly transform into an enemy causing a sudden throwdown between good and evil. 10. You are a giant Transformer that can blow anything up!Do you catch my drift as to what the main selling point is? I have one complaint so far and that is the fact that it is currently unknown how to free roam with any character you want once you beat the game. I hope it is discovered since I'd love to run around as Blackout in the Suburbs rather than Barricade and I'd love to free roam as Scorponok again but even if you can't change, the game is very fun as is. I highly recommend this game to anyone who wants some mindless fun. No, it's not the best game ever. Yes, it is moderately repetitive. Yes, the timed challenges can be a bit annoying. Yes, the camera sucks. However, if you take it for what it is (giant robot explosion fest) and make your own fun, this game freaking rocks. 7.5-8/10

I only have a PS2... I'm so technologically backwards. You can bet I'm getting it, though. I just hope Frank Welker's Megatron voice over made it into the mere PS2 version.

Lots of "Blow random **** up" there, and then you can tell the other guys playing how lame they are for not being able to stop you, just before you plug a hollowpoint in their cerebral cortex.

Yes, but can you blow stuff up as a giant, transforming robot in a free roam world where everything is destroyable, even the giant Hot Dogs on top of a restaurant which you can then toss at Megatron in order to inflict a large amount of damage?
Can you go shooting off of a ramp and transform in mid-air, launching missile after missile into that government complex across the street?
Can you start off a multi-building fire just by launching a few rockets into some poor saps apartment building which then causes the other building nearby to catch fire and explode as well, eventually causing an entire city block to become nothing more than rubble?
Sure, Transformers doesn't have online play but it certainly does remind me of an old joke. What do you give an 800 pound gorilla? Anything it wants. What do you let a multi-story robot do? Anything it wants.
Great, great game.

Indestructible trees? I've played Mercenaries so don't go telling me about invinci-trees. Hey I think the trees in Mercs 2 are destructible. But yeah, this game looks pretty good, and the graphics look great for a Wii game. I may only rent this one because I am going to get Pokemon Battle Revolution...

Ok today my kids at summer camp (5&6 yr olds) gave their reviews on the movie game it went something like this: Yeah well when I play transformers on the Playstation on the TV I can drive and blow things up. Yeah well when I take my big brother's DS I can throw things. Well on the Playstation I am Bumble Bee. Well I can be whatever I want to be on DS. So you can see where this was going. Basic idea everyone loves Transformers gaming.
