I quick game review...aimed at 'Tix players in particular...
Each booster is about 4 bucks, and has two characters, one Autobot, one Decepticon, and is designed to be two player one on one playable out of the gate. So, price wise, a little cheaper than an Attacktix booster, still two random characters, just guaranteed one good guy and one bad guy. Each figure is built from two punch out cards. A third two sided card has stats for each mode of the character. A separate card provides the three colored markers for each side (red blue green) as well as the autobot and decepticon logo "sliders" to track hit points. Rule pamphlet is included in each pack as well. So that's what you get.
If you've ever seen the Pirates game, or the Nascar game that is similar...you punch the pieces out of what is basically like a credit card type card, then assemble the figs. Each can be assembled in either robot mode or vehicle mode. Each fig has three powers for each mode. Hit points are tracked separately on each mode, with a piece being defeated when either side gets down to zero.
Start with your character in vehicle mode, with that side of the card up. Combat rounds happen with each player picking a color and revealing it at the same time. For example, your Red attack power might hit if your opponent picks Blue, and possibly vice versa. Successful attacks deal damage and possibly provide other bonuses, like "may Transform" or "move to Close Range". Ties go to a second round, where the underdog has a chance to score a critical hit.
So...the figures are used for two purposes...to track which "mode" they are in, and to indicate range, close or long.
Rules for larger and multiplayer games are similar and provided in the rules...each piece has a point value (like 37 or 52), so you would set a point limit similar to a 'tix game to make a full team.
Biggest plus - plenty of movie style characters
Biggest minus - "transformation" times may vary, can slow down what is otherwise fairly fast paced gameplay.

How do you have a 3D card? Isn't 3D=Action Figure and 2D=Card or paper?

I haven't played it, but I read on another site that the TF robot forms do not look good and the game is played like "Rock-Paper-Scissors", where you have a colored token in your hand and your opponent does the same. Then you both show the tokens at the same time and certain colors beat other colors. Then you use that color's power to inflict damage.
Can anyone confirm this before I go out and spend any money on this game? If it is really like this, then it looks like I'll have more money for the upcoming Star Wars Pocketmodel TCG...

I have no idea where you saw that but from what I have heard the game is just like Pokemon, you do something to allow youself to access the attacks and then use them. I don't know where transforming comes into the picture so we'll just have to wait and see.

Believe me, I hope what I heard was wrong. I was planning on playing the game, but am still gathering info on it. If what I read proves to be incorrect, I'll be the first to apologize for the mis-information.

I got to see the Star Wars Pocket Model game at c4, ...it was kind of neat if you like dice rolling, but I personally couldn't imagine paying for cardboard cut outs of vehicles. I can't imagine they would be good long. The guy at the booth did a "drop test" for me. It fell apart. He put it back together "good as new", but I still prefer my Battle Figures over anything out there.

I have never really been interested in card games. I'm more into figures that you can literally attack with. Maybe they could have big black circle things they could stand on. And different speeds, factions, and classes. And a they could have a point cost depending on how good they are. Oh, and maybe.....

I thought these were to be released on Saturday (6/2) like the other new TF merchandise, but I didn't see these things anywhere. I was hoping to get some, but it looks like, same as the Attacktix, we'll just have to wait.

I FOUND SOME!!!!! I picked up 4 packs last night at one of my local Walmart stores (the one that I'm usually cursing for their pathetic toy section!). They were in their trading card section (duh) and they had 12 packs out. I'm guessing that they just put them out, since 12 sounds about right for a case-size. At first I thought they were kinda expensive ($4.47 each), but once I got them home and opened them, I saw the real value. Everything you need to play truly is in one pack! Midnight Majick and I played a couple games and it's pretty fun! The transforming factor is cool, but time consuming and it tends to slow down the otherwise fast-paced game. It looks like I might invest in 2 of each character, as someone else on the board suggested (sorry, can't remember who!). That way you can just swap a vehicle for the robot, or visa-versa, without slowing down the game by transforming. Either way, I'll definitely be buying more packs, and probably be offering trades on the "Non-Attacktix trading post" to anyone else that's going to collect these. Overall, a very entertaining game!

Is there more to the game than the "rock-paper-scissors" rules I've heard about? I'd like to pick this up, but between the upcoming expansion release for the Highlander TCG, and the soon to be released Star Ward PocketModel TCG, I was leaning towards saving money for those 2 games. ...and Attacktix, of course!

I'd like to pick this up, but between the upcoming expansion release for the Highlander TCG, and the soon to be released Star Ward PocketModel TCG, I was leaning towards saving money for those 2 games. ...and Attacktix, of course! Well, this is how it works, you get seven cards in each pack, two stat cards and four to build the actual figures and one that has these chips and life counters. To play, you choose an attack on your stat for your figure and then pick up the chip you chose. When both you and your opponent are ready reveal the chips. On the stat card, it tells you what attack beats what so you know which figure will attack and which will take damage. Let's say that you lost the attack, and took the damage, you slide your little life counter down the card to indicate what life the Transformer is at. Even if you lose the attack though, it's possible that you will still be able to do something in response. For example, my Scorponok has an attack called Energon Stinger (which allows him to transform and allow him to deal 40 damage as well as move to close or long range) in vehicle/beast mode, it's a blue attack and it will lose to a green attack. Let's say that my opponent did use a green attack and did manage to hit Scorponok, I will then calculate the damage and then not activate the movement ability and not deal any damage but will be able to transform since that is an ability that is already blue and does not need for me to win the attack. I'm not sure if any of this made sense because I'm kind of tired but that's about all you need to know to play, I think. Also, Scorponok is great! Not only does he look cool, have good attacks but he also takes about 10 seconds to transform, unlike my dumb Mirage who takes something like 5 minutes.

It is a lot like Rock-Paper-Scissors, but it's still a ton of fun, and I'm sure if you'd use a large squad, rather than one on one, it would make things so interesting that you would forget about the simplicity of the game.
My advice is to buy atleast one pack. Try it out, everything you need to start playing will be in the pack. If you like it, buy more, if not, don't worry because you only spent about $4.50.
