Bumble Bee's face, it already has a petition. But don't worry supposedly he will look better with the CGI added.

I find that pic to be kinda creepy. The eyes look more "life like" than I would expect out of a robot.
They will start a petition over anything wont they? Like a petition will do anything...

Are these really what the transformers are going to be looking like in the movie? If so, Im sorry but I dont think I will be going to see that. Why are they looking like the insides of animatronic puppets. I mean, I had no problem with megatron not being a gun, no problem with prime having the fire paint job, and even no problem with scorponok not having a robot mode. But these new images of the transformers have just killed the movie for me. And if your a fan of the new looks, thats fine Im not going bash you or anything, I just wanted to see my old transformers in a cool live action movie, not a total reworking of what they looked like.

See, even though I'm a G1 fan, I really like what I'm seeing with these pics. This is a live action/cgi movie...and from what I've read, they are really trying to make the transformers robots as real world as possible...accounting for all of the mass of the vehicle mode in the design of the robot mode, etc.
Here's a thought...do you like the DC animated style, like JLU, Batman, Superman etc.? I do, I love it to death. BUT...I think it looks kinda dumb in stills...it only works for me when it's seen in the context of the animation.
I think the same is true of these cgi TFs, how they look in a still shot could be vastly different than how they look when animated.

I can understand how they would want to get the physics right in the live action movie with the mass and such, but that means no soundwave. If they look better while moving than in the stills I guess that makes up for it. But Im still not a fan of the pupils and the organic lookin faces.

Heh.. Another "no soundwave" cry... I had read somewhere that they were going to put soundwave in the movie. But they couldnt get him to a point where the fans were happy. Isnt that funny? You hear so many people complaining that they are doing this or that, and you kind of assume they arent even paying attention to what the fans want.
There is a character going to be in the movie named frenzy, who we all may remember was one of soundwaves cassettes. From the rumors I have read, frenzy transforms into some kind of stereo. I guess this character wasnt named "soundwave" because of course the fans would want that 2 foot tall stereo to transform into a 30 foot tall robot. And you know they arent going to do that.
I dont know if I agree that the faces are "organic" either. The only thing I have seen that would even come close to that description is bumblebee's eyes (when I fist saw them I thought they were very creepy looking). The rest of the face still looks very mechanical, as well do the faces of blackout, megatron and optimus prime.
Personally, I dont "like" everything I see leaking out, but Im not going to worry about it. I have to assume that the movie makers know what they are doing.
I have also been thinking allot about what webhead keeps saying about the "realistic" transformations and use of mass, as opposed to the rear of the truck splitting and forming legs. This is really the part that bugs me the most out of all the stuff I have looked through. I agree that it is much more "real life" for them to function this way. And I keep thinking "These are alien being that are supposedly more advanced, it wouldnt be logical for them to run around with the entire front end of a car as a chest".... But really the bulky look and chunks of cars here and there in the robot forms is what transformers are. These new incarnations just dont look like transformers! Besides, how in the world are they going to make toys of these?
Dont get me wrong about that last little rant, Im not complaining.. I remain very hopeful, and I am anxiously awaiting the release of the movie. That is just the one thing about these characters that bothers me, but I am still VERY far from signing a stupid petition.

FYI - Cameras and robotic vision systems DO have pupils and irises generally. Take a look at your camera, for instance. It has an Iris setting, and high-end SLR cameras have a pupil setting to restrict the amount of light allowed onto the film. This helps from 'blooming' when photographing bright subjects.

No, Soundwave isn't in the movie because Bay ruled that there would be no "mass shifting" in the movie. Mostly because people who weren't familiar with TFs wouldn't understand the idea of how a 40ft robot becomes a boombox. There was also a rumor list of bots that were going to be in the movie at one point, and Soundwave was one of them. Supposedly, it was just one of the code names they had given to some of the characters to help keep them secret.

Mostly because people who weren't familiar with TFs wouldn't understand the idea of how a 40ft robot becomes a boombox. I disagree... When I watched the live yahoo broadcast with the 2 writers of the movie, they talked about how they attempted to make soundwave work.... And how they just "couldnt get it right". And I dont believe the "no mass shifting" was a complete Bay call. I think it had allot more to do with these 2 writers. Bay follows everything they lay out, hes not writing it. And they are after all going for a REAL live action movie here.. And while the whole mass shifting thing worked for me when I was about 5 years old, I really think I would have great problems with seeing it in a live action manor. Also, I really hope they dont have a trailer appear out of no where when optimus transforms into a truck.

re: mass/size shifting...
Not only could Megatron, the second biggest Decepticon, turn into a gun, but the gun was different sizes...sometimes it was big enough for another TF to use, sometimes small enough for a human to use...
Like he said...that's fine when you're eight...but...

I wasnt trying for a "so soundwave cry" if anything I would be doing a "no ironhide cry". But I guess it did sound like that. Regarding the pupils, the old transformers just had glass covering their eyes, colored glass not pupils, but im not gonna complain all that much about it. Im really not liking the mouth on optimus though, the shield plate over his mouth is like his official trademark pretty much. Any way, I do miss the squared out cab up front optimus of my youth, but I cant have everything my way. By the way, in now way will I ever support an online petition to change a movie, especially this late in its creation. ;D
