I'm glad you guys like the relay idea. Here are some other ways we played as well. Point Value. You play 1-5 games/matches against different opponents. After each round you add up how many points you have left standing. For instance say you are playing a 100 point game. You have 2 Plo Koons (40x2=80 points) and 1 KAM (20 points). After the game is over you have only 1 Plo Koon standing. So you are awarded 40 points on your first round. Next time you may lose. You gain nothing, you lose nothing. After the five rounds are up you total up your points with a possibility of 500 points being acheived. Whoever has the most points wins the tournament. If there is a tie, then you have a tie breaker game. What I like about point value is that if you have a bad game you still have a chance to redem yourself. In the game of Attacktix sometimes you get no help from your specials, while your opponent seems to have luck on their side. If you lose your first, bah! You still have 4 more to gain as much as you want. It's fun to watch it come down to the last round and seeing who could win. You really start rooting for people to win so that it improves your standings. ChessAt the begining of the game you choose one of your figures that are to become your "king" figure. That figure is secret to your opponent. You play the game, but if your opponent at any time knocks over your "king" (even if he has recover) then the game is over. We did this and I had 10 JK's on my team. I assigned one of them my "king". My niece went first and wouldn't you know it, my first figure she shot over was my "king". Game over! But we had fun with this. As you play you are wondering if you can just make a quick game of it like what happend to me or if it's going to be a slug fest. My wife and my nephew went down to their last few figures before the game finally ended. Anyway, these are a few of my ideas. I hope ya like them.

Good stuff Greyelephant, I like all of your ideas but especially the relay. We plan on playing for the first time in months tomorrow night, maybe we'll give that a try.
As far as TixCon goes, I'll have to talk to the guys about it, but at this point I think you can count us out. I'm all for another road trip, but I only have about -> <- much interest in the game right now. Like I said, we're playing tomorrow night, so maybe a spark will be reignited. But at this moment, all of my Tix are actually packed away in storage.

Here is another way you can make a tournament go a little bit faster. This could work well in the gunslinger competition, as it seems to me that this one in particular drags out a little bit. Once you finish with your match, you are only allowed to advance the figures into the next match that survived your first game. This goes on until the last match between the two remaining people. The nice thing is that it makes the matches go faster and faster as they advance. Once you get down to the last match each person will probably only have around 1-3 figures remaining to face each other with. So if you are looking to cut some time out for opportunities to hold other competitions like the main event, curling, relay, or strikers only (strikers only could use the same rules as well), this could help. Yags, I feel ya man. It's hard to keep up enthusiasm when nothing seems to be coming out any time soon. Hopefully the newer stuff will be here before Christmas! That sure would increase interest.

How many people showed up at Tix Con this year? I think there were about 30-35 or so actual participants, plus maybe 10 or so non-playing family members.

1. Will you attend TixCon 2008 if at all possible?
I can't promise anything without a solid date, but I'd certainly like to give it a shot.
2. How many in your group, including non-playing family members?
That's even harder to say... probably 1-2 others, depending on who I can rope into coming along to drive and such.
3. Would you be able to stay for two days of play (Saturday and Sunday)?
More than likely.
4. Are there any other games you would like to see scheduled besides Attacktix and HeroScape?
I'm a big fan of the Heroclixing, but looking at the other responses, I don't think that really interests a lot of people in this crowd, and I have to agree that anything that could take attention away from Attacktix = bad. So no, probably not.
5. Are there any events from last year you consider a "flop" that we could do without?
Not applicable.
6. Do you have any ideas for new events this year?
None offhand.
7. Would you be willing to volunteer to run an event or some part of the con?
Probably not. I'd like to have a participation/observation outing before I try any of that. Now, when TC '09 rolls around, we may be able to talk.
8. Would you buy a TixCon t-shirt?
Honestly, I'd want to see the design before I commit to that. Even a mock-up of possible designs would be nice, but I'm not going to promise anything sight unseen.
9. What would you suggest to improve the event?
Nachos. They make everything better.
10. Any other comments or suggestions...
None offhand.

Mid July, mid July, mid July..... I'm using my Jedi Mind Force and wishful thinking. Otherwise I'll be there in Jedi Spirit unless airfares are ridiculously cheap and I ref alot of Soccer games for the extra dough.
