Why didn't this happen? That's a good question. The simple reason is that this is bigger than any of us can appomplish on our own or together.
To gather the thousands upon thousands of people that would be required to have a national tournament, we would need to get dozens of people coming out to each regional or local tournament. I suppose if each of us got a ton of figures and arranged with a comic shop to host a tournament (for a game that is not on the market right now) it may be possible, but frankly it is hard to gather people to a tournament even in your local area. I think all the people here that have hosted tournaments would agree that it is a struggle to get people to play an Attacktix tournament without a demo.
I think ultimately it is going to require Hasbro to say "We are having a national tournament" and "here is a list of all companies registered for 'Saturday Night Attacktix' (not to be confused with Friday Night Magic)". I mean really, I can put out hundreds of fliers and get a reasonable result, but if Hasbro advertises tournaments on millions of packages, we will see some real surges of competitive players.

Indeed. I would LOVE to be a part of expanding the game via tournaments.

And if memory serves, he said that national tournaments were something they wanted to do with the relaunch. So, perhaps in time some of us will be hosting Attacktix tournaments at local comic shops and toys r us'.

There's never been a true National Championship and there likely never will. I really think (sad to say since I was one of the last holdouts) that this is a dead game and we're the dinosaurs of the garrison holding down the fort.
If they do one, it will be at Gencon for sure, in Indianapolis, since that's the mecca of all gaming and realistically that's the best way to get people there since they're already going to be there for other games.
Note to Brian Wilk: You really, really should log on to this forum and let people know if this is really a 'hiatus-ed' line or if it's just a HOPE that this will re-emerge. Your support base is waning here and if the hard-core holdouts leave your ranks it will be a waste of money to bother revamping the line since it will be starting over from scratch.

I would be more than happy to set up tables at Toys R Us and host a tournament. It would be a labor of love. All we would have to do is keep track of who wins in what categories and have a system set up to enter the information into the computer. I still believe that doing a tournament at Gen Con would be the way to go. There's tons of people that go there for nothing but gaming. What better place to advertise and compete? That would be nice. However, I'll still show up even if it's another year from now and buy everything in a couple of stores when they relaunch. And maybe even then some.

If Hasbro doesn't get it together and relaunch attacktix with the new clone wars cartoon then I feel it could be the end for our beloved game. In the hay day they launched the toy line with a movie and it worked very well. That is the best/last chance Attacktix has capture a new group of fans. CRoss your fingers gang.

how bout trying a tv show
A really good attacktix player(or team) can get a bus ride around the country and receive challenges from players. the player or team goes to the challengers house or somewhere they can use and the challenger chooses the rules and they play
It could be mostly a highlights show.

I think both "clever" and "unlikely" are more appropriate words for your idea than stupid. It is a really good example of thinking outside the box, frankly I'm impressed. But unless there was a variety of games and huge cash prizes, I don't think it would have a big following of TV viewers, making it hard to sell expensive commercial time, making it unlikely to last on TV. But, REALLY creative idea! That was cool.

If not a T.V. show, how about a youtube / blog type thing. I young guy and his pals and hot girl friend (the hot girl part is very important) hit the road to bring attacktix to the people of our great land. Taking RT. 66 across the usa. Running from the law and dispensing whoop ass on all attacktix challengers. Who wouldn't watch that.
