I was going to just update the old thread for this (the open source attacktix database thread), but this thing has grown into an entirely different beast. Thanks to Cona Chris teaming up with me, this thing has developed many more tools and functions than I ever dreamed possible. We were also thinking about holding off releasing this until the new figures came out, so that the figure list could be as up to date as possible. And well, with talks of a hiatus, may not be a better time than now!
My fellow board members, Chris and I are very proud to present to you, the first ever version of TixTool.
“What is this TixTool, and whats so special about it? You may be asking. To sum it up, TixTool is THE utility for the attacktix enthusiast. With TixTool you can keep track of your collection, you can enter in data from games played to hone your teams, you can track trades made with people on the forum, and you can even easily make custom labels. Here is just a quick rundown of the features of TixTool.
1. Main Interface 2. Collection Sums 3. Game Data 4. Label Maker 5. Reports and Charts 6. Trade Track 7. Web Browser
Download Access 97 version Download Access 2000 + version
Download Access 2007 runtime version - This download uses the free runtime version of access. Using this install file will show you where to download access runtime if you do not have access installed on your PC.
I also have an install file that will install TixTool and runtime all at once. Very nice and simple, but at 55 meg I cant upload it to my box.net account. If anyone needs this version I will mail you a cd if you paypal me $1.00 to cover mail cost, PM me if interested.
As another option, you can download a trial version of MS Office 2007 here.
Please feel free to post any questions, think of this thread as tech support, Cona Chris and I will help you out as best we can. Also, please share any and all ideas for features you would like to see in the next release of TixTool.
Thanks to Joe Mazno for creating MASS, which has been an important part of TixTool from the beginning. And Also To Pete Ruth, who has been a great consultant in the past several months.

Very cool! I tried downloading th earlier version of this, but it wouldn't work . Thankfully, this one works fine. How long did it take to make it?

No, TixTool is 100% free to download. MS Access however does cost money.... That is, unless your one of those Jack Sparow types.

I actually started laying the foundation more than a year ago. This past 8 months Cona Chris has been a MAJOR player in building this first floor... The sky is the limit from here.

If anyone is interested in keeping stats of their games, there is a printable blank scoresheet on the TixTool which you use to write down all the stats in an organized manner (which allows for easy input into the TixTool).
The Game Data entry for your stats will have lots of checks to make sure that things are balancing properly too (i.e. if S1 Vader is defeated 4 times but you didn't input that this special power was ever activated, the TixTool will tell you)!
It takes a little bit of patience on learning how to keep the stats, but after a few games, you get the hang of it and I now find it very easy to keep game stats without having to interupt gameplay too much.

You need to have Microsoft Access to run the TixTool - which is not a program that is on most people's computers unfortunately.

Well, the tool is at it's heart a database, and MS Access is the most common database program around. We are trying to make it so that the Tix Tool can be made into a stand-alone program (so you would need no program to make it work) but haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Well actually that is not entirely correct. MicroSoft has the problem since they've not released the Run-Time that would allow this to be a standalone.

Let's see...malform noted that this project started over a year ago, and Cona Chris and he have been working on it together for the past 9 months...and they said that they can't figure out how to export it as a standalone program...
I doubt that a month is a realistic timeframe.
You might want to reassess the tone of your posts about this tool - ultimately, it's no skin off your nose if they programmed it in an environment that's available only to certain people. Now, if you'd like to sponsor their purchase of MS Office Developer Suite to allow this conversion to happen, that might be a different story. Alternatively, you could sign up for a trial of MS Office Professional (which includes Access) or try out Office in your browser if you use Internet Explorer.

YB, thats some great info, thank you very much....
Over the past many months I have tried many times to find some kind of free MS Access reader, but have not found one that would allow anything more than table viewing. Believe me when I say we are trying to make it as available as possible. We have put a TON of time into this application, and we are still planning on putting a ton more in. Please be patient as all the time spent on it is our own personal time.
And really.... If you want to run it bad enough its not all that hard to get access for free... Dont PM me about it, I wont help.

I'm really not sure - we haven't been succesful so far at converting it, and honestly after all the work we've put into this so far I'm not terribly eager to try converting it again anytime soon.

You guys made me download the entire Microsoft Office 2007 package just to get Access so I could run this, but I will say, TixTool makes it worth it. This thing has an insane amount of features and information. I haven't even looked at everything and it already has impressed me. Great Job, Malform and ConaChris.
And, Malform, in the gallery, did you take all of those pictures yourself?
